Following this year’s Isese Day celebrations on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Lagos, Oyo, and Ogun state governments have declared the day as work-free for public servants.
The Lagos State government made the announcement through a circular issued by the state’s Head of Service, Bode Agoro, and addressed to top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, commissioners, chairmen of local councils, Local Council Development Areas, permanent secretaries, and heads of state agencies, among others.
According to the circular, the declaration was part of Sanwo-Olu’s reaffirmed commitment to promoting indigenous culture, tradition, and heritage while strengthening support for traditional institutions across the state.
Also, declaring the day a public holiday, the Oyo State government, through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, in a circular dated August 18, 2025, indicated that the governor approved the work-free day to mark the Isese Day Celebration.
It would be recalled that August 20 was formally declared a public holiday in 2023, following a motion passed by the Ogun State House of Assembly and the concurrent approval of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The day is set aside to celebrate Yoruba religion and traditions. In a statement, the state government said the introduction of Isese Day as a public holiday reflects Abiodun’s recognition of the vital role that Yoruba heritage and practices play in the state’s identity and cultural landscape.
Racoon: Namibia, Ghana, South African and other smaller African nations have long put this to use but your country's ruling part and government are obsessed with the criminal analogue way of electioneering because that is the only way they can remain in the structure of criminality.
After the last presidential election, a popular Obi supporter, Mark Essien designed a website to alternatively collate results according to the IREV. Obi's supporters volunteered and they started but they shut it down when they found out that INEC was right and Tinubu won.
During the court case, none of the people who contested the election including Atiku and Obi claimed to have won or that the results brough on paper was different from the one on the IREV that was transmitted electronically.
See, the results were transmitted both electronically and manually to avoid errors.
The electoral act has not made electronic transmission of result compulsory. It only provides IREV as an option to observe results when there is a conflict or disagreement
Noted. But if you say Okowa is corrupt yet he was Atiku's running mate.
Atiku was second and that means an alleged corrupt man would have been vice president. So the PDP chose a corrupt man to be our Number 2 citizen? So of all the people in PDP, Atiku chose a corrupt person(according to you) as his running mate. That is even an indictment on his ability to chose people to work with
Okowa's defection is an indictment on Atiku's leadership and abikity to hold his ranks. It someone who was your running-mate can defect less than 2 years then something is seriously wrong somewhere
