Music/RadioI Have Already Started Working On A New Album – Wizkid by Naijacircus(op): 3:33pm On Jun 16, 2017

Starboy Wizzy, is letting us all know work just
started as he doesn’t seem to be sowing down at all.
Wizkid , who was recently featured on US Based Hunter Magazine, talked about a couple of things to include his music, he international market and more. .
The COME CLOSER crooner on music, explained that although his goal is to make music for the world, he is however contented with his fanbase at the moment.

Having been the but of many jokes as to him
trying to live and act like afrobeat legend Fela, Wizkid made it clear that this isn’t the case., He explained that although he idolizes the afrobeat legend, he however isn’t trying to live like him.

On being tagged as the face of Afrobeats:
I’m not really seeing myself as the one champion of the movement. I’m just contributing my own little part. Keep the movement moving, and take it there, you know? I’d say we make afro-pop.

I don’t just make afrobeats… I make music. I draw inspiration from all over. From dancehall reggae, afrobeat, American music as well. Whatever I listen to, I draw inspiration from.
On the similarities between himself and the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti: Every artist has that one person that inspired them, or a group of artists that inspired them.
Fela happens to be a very big inspiration to my music, Bob Marley as well. So I’m just here
spreading good vibes. I’m not trying to live like Fela or do what he has done. I just appreciate everything he did when he was alive and I am here to create my own legacy.

On expectations from his music on the international scene:

The aim is not really to cross over. I just want to make good music for the world. It’s really not in my mind to cross over to America. I have my own fan base, which is Africa. And I just want to keep feeding that fan base and hope it grows.
EducationWe’re Set For Supplementary UTME – JAMB by Naijacircus(op): 11:55pm On Jun 15, 2017
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2e/Official_JAMB_logo.png

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Thursday said it had concluded arrangements for its supplementary 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin said that the examination, scheduled for July 1, would give candidates with issues of late registration and others opportunity to write the Computer-Based Test.

The results of the examination which earlier took place from May 13 to May 20 have since been released. JAMB, on Wednesday, June 14, also announced the cancellation of results of no fewer than 50,000 candidates over examination malpractice and other alleged infractions.

Benjamin urged candidates for the supplementary examination not to panic, but remain focused and confident. “The board is using the opportunity to charge affected candidates for the rescheduled examination not to panic, as text messages will be sent to their telephones, with which they used in registering for the examination, to the effect of their qualification.

“There is really nothing to be afraid of or worried about. To this effect, therefore, they should be expecting such notification before 12 midnight of Thursday, June 15. “Messages will also be sent to their e-mail addresses.

Their profile will also contain the information as it had been updated. “In the same vein, all candidates whose results had been cancelled outrightly following their involvement in examination irregularities will also be notified through their e-mails, text messages as well as their profiles.

“This set of candidates is not eligible for the supplementary examination,” Benjamin said. According to Benjamin, candidates for the rescheduled examination will also be notified of the date and venue on or before Monday, June 19.

He said that candidates could check their result status to avoid being extorted by fraudsters who might want to seize the opportunity to exploit them. Benjamin noted that the examination body was taking extra steps to contact all rescheduled candidates for the examination to prevent them from falling prey to fraudulent persons.

“Sequel to this, therefore, the board is calling on members of the public, especially candidates, to avail themselves of the open door and inclusive policy of the board to seek clarification where the need arises, from any of our offices nationwide.

“This rescheduled examination became necessary to ensure that no innocent candidate is unjustly punished,” Benjamin said.

BusinessNaira Records Further Gain Against Dollar, Trades At N365/$ by Naijacircus(op): 10:34am On Jun 12, 2017
https://www.360nobs.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Nigerian-currency-Naira-Notes-640x431.jpg

The naira has recorded further gain
against the United States dollar on the
parallel market, closing at N365/$.

The local currency closed at 367/dollar on
Friday, after closing between 367/dollar
and 368/dollar for most days of last week. This is even as the Nigerian currency had closed at 371/dollar the previous week, after rising to 374/dollar from 382/dollar.

Reuters reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been intervening on the official market to try to narrow the spread between the official interbank and black markets.

It is also understood that the country’s apex bank has sold over $4bn since February, improving dollar supply and providing support for the naira.

Also lending voice on the development, the Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, said there were plans by the apex bank to make necessary interventions in the forex market this week, in line with its earlier resolve to achieve forex rates convergence and liquidity in the market.

Currency experts and analysts have said
they expect the naira to be stable across the board in the near term on increased dollar supply to both the official interbank window and the black market. Also, the recent gains recorded by the local unit have brought the CBN closer to its plan to achieve rate convergence.

However, economic experts have said that whichever way the regulator wants to achieve this convergence – either around the lower band of N305/dollar, mid-point band of N320/dollar or around the upper band of around N360/dollar – the country has a huge price to pay.

They further argued that achieving convergence around the official rate of
N305/dollar will take a long time as the CBN
does not currently possess the stock of
forex to push the parallel market rate from
the current N380/dollar to the official rate level of N305/dollar.

PetsDog Loses Police Job, Becomes Governor’s Companion by Naijacircus(op): 3:31pm On Jun 08, 2017
https://punchng.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/08144044/Dog-Gavel.jpg

A police dog has been sacked from his job, though it’s for the best reason possible. One-year-old Gavel had been enrolled to be trained as Police service dog, but his temperament was regarded by his employers as being “too friendly” to be in the Force.

The puppy is said to just love rolling over and having his belly rubbed rather than standing to attention and looking menacing.

The police dog-in-training failed to make the final cut for Queensland Police Service in Australia because of his overly sociable temperament.

But luckily for the cheeky canine, he was offered a new role welcoming visitors to Brisbane’s Government House as Governor Paul de Jersey’s official Vice-Regal Dog. And German Shepherd Gavel, who has struck up quite the bond with Governor de Jersey and the many Australians he greets every day, is now a social media star.

A spokesman for Queensland Government House said: “Gavel arrived at Government House in April last year as a six-week-old puppy.

“It was intended that he would undergo a training and socialisation programme preparing to become a Queensland Police Service Dog.

“But like many aspiring QPS dogs, Gavel did not display the necessary aptitude for a life on the front line. “Not all dogs display this, and Gavel proved himself to be quite sociable.” He added: “He is better suited to life as a ceremonial dog and will instead now spend his working days at Fernberg, where he has become a much-loved part of Government House life.”

Gavel was brought to the prestigious 40-acre Fernberg residence in Paddington, Brisbane as part of the 16-month dog squad training and socialisation programme.

He was one of 40 budding police hounds sent to foster homes across Queensland but was the only one to not be fostered by a QPS officer. Instead, Gavel was officially presented to His Excellency the Governor of Queensland, the Honourable Paul de Jersey and wife Kaye de Jersey.

But despite having a prestigious family bloodline which saw him related to five current working QPS dogs, playful Gavel didn’t make the cut and was let go by the Force.

But when the pooch hung up his Queensland Police Service coat for the last time earlier this year, staff at Government House couldn’t let him go.

They created a brand new state position – Vice- Regal Dog – especially for Gavel and gave him the official title Gavel VRD.

Now his official state duties include welcoming the building’s thousands of callers, attending functions and formal ceremonies with the governor and even sitting-in on briefings.

Gavel wears a specially-made Government House coat emblazoned with the Governor’s Personal Standard and the brolga, the official bird emblem of Queensland.

And to avoid him being startled by the fanfare trumpet salutes which can frequently be heard in the building, he has been familiarised with Australian Army Band music.

Gavel even enjoys donning a scarf in the official state colour, maroon, in support of Queensland’s sporting teams.

Last April, Sergeant Dean Hansen of Brisbane Dog Squad, QPS, said: “Gavel is confident, with no nervous tendencies, and shows a willingness to retrieve, prey drive and ball drive and can be motivated by food for a reward.

“Police dogs can be taught many skills, but they need to have these basic traits already in their personality.”

SportsLiverpool To Break Record For Van Dijk by Naijacircus(op): 3:22pm On Jun 06, 2017
https://guardian.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Virgil-van-Dijk.jpg
Dutch international defender Virgil van Dijk could become the world’s most expensive defender and join English Premier League giants Liverpool from rivals Southampton, according to British media reports.

The 25-year-old — who joined Southampton in 2015 after impressing at Scottish champions Celtic — would cost around £60 million (69m euros, $77m), according to reports.

However, BBC Radio Solent and other media outlets reported later on Tuesday Southampton were unhappy and had asked the Premier League to probe whether there had been an illegal approach by Liverpool.

Van Dijk would be Liverpool’s most expensive ever signing — striker Andy Carroll having cost £35 million in moving from Newcastle United in 2011. Celtic would be in line for 10 percent of the fee having included a sell-on clause in his transfer to Saints.

David Luiz is presently the most expensive defender in the world having been sold to Paris Saint-Germain by Chelsea for £50 million in 2014.

According to The Sun, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has convinced the Liverpool owners Van Dijk is deserving of earning a weekly wage of almost £200,000 (230,000 euros, $258,000) — which will make him their highest ever paid player.

Van Dijk — who also caught the eye of both Manchester City and champions Chelsea — is keen on a move to Liverpool not only for Champions League football but to join compatriot and close friend Georginio Wijnaldum.

Southampton have become a favoured hunting ground for Liverpool in the past three years having signed five players — including Adam Lallana and Senegalese star Sadio Mane — for a total of almost £100 million.

SportsBarca Aiming To Win Everything – Messi by Naijacircus(op): 12:36pm On Jun 06, 2017
https://punchng.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/01014454/Lionel-Messi-new.jpg

Lionel Messi is targeting a clean sweep of trophies under new Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde next season.

Barca won nine trophies of a possible 13 in three seasons under Luis Enrique but missed out on both La Liga and the Champions League this year.

Former Athletic Bilbao boss Valverde begins his quest for success with the Super Cup against league winners Real Madrid in August, and Messi said, “Our objective at the beginning of the season was to win everything. “We’ll try again next season.

The objective is to get back to winning everything.” Messi was speaking at the launch of the Leo Messi Experience, a theme park in Nanjing, China, that opens in 2019.

His promotional commitments mean he has not yet had a chance to meet Valverde, but he said, “I don’t know the new Barca coach personally, but we’ll meet in the next few days.”
