The VC keeps complaining of funds but he keeps employing people without due process. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/03/agonies-of-fupre-africas-1st-petroleum-varsity-10/amp/ |
The Joint Action Congress (JAC) of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Effurun, Delta State, commenced a three-day warning strike over allegations of massive cuts in their salaries. JAC is the umbrella body of staff unions in the university, which include Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Union of Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Associated Institutions (NASU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). The workers in a circular dated April 6, 2017 and addressed to the university’s Chairman of Council, expressed dismay over the development since 2016, pointing out that whereas there was no cut in the allowances of council members. In the circular signed by the University’s ASUU Chairman, Agbalagba Ezekiel and four other union leaders, the workers also passed a vote of no confidence on the Governing Council. They alleged that the council has been unable to attract the needed funds for the institution’s infrastructure development since inception four years ago. According to circular made available to newsmen, the unions also protested the abandonment of two student hostels, which it alleged has gulped an unjustifiable amount of money spent on it so far. The university registrar could not be reached for comment as telephone calls to his mobile phone were not taken https://www.today.ng/news/nigeria/287333/crisis-looms-fupre-alleged-salary-cut

profhezekiah:I am from naija oh. I'm just tired of the injustice in the FUPRE system. I should have gone to BBN instead of working for my daily bread that I can hardly afford ![]() |
profhezekiah:We need them to account for all the salary cuts they have been taking. They have no conscience, staff and students are suffering. |
Last time we complained, they said staff are not complaining......

The school had to reschedule exams for the students. No meeting has been called for staff yet. Instead staff are being threatened. Mods pls move this to the front page let's create awareness ![]()

As soon as he assumed duty the VC employed about 70 staff without advertisement nor interviews. Most of this staff are senior level staff, mostly directors and senior lecturers whose salary can pay five to ten staff in level seven. He further went ahead to employ his wife as principal registrar with an official vehicle and a staff driver. He equally created a research unit where he fixed his son and other five close family relative who recently finished NYSC in the university. Most of these new staff including his son are currently abroad "studying" fully funded by the school coffers. We implore the federal government and especially EFCC to come and look at the activities of these management and council to help unravel what is going on in FUPRE. Please help us!!!!!!

The Federal University of Petroleum Technology FUPRE has resumed exams and school activities after a 3 day warning strike held last week. Staff and students alike had their schedules disrupted when matters got to a head on 6th April 2017. The Joint Action Congress decided that continued salary cuts, mismanagement of funds and poor infrastructure since the inception of the school must be addressed by FUPRE management and council. Staff are suffering with almost 45% cut off from their monthly salaries. Where else does this happen in a federal institution? #onlyinNigeria? The school Marco Polo bus was used to block the gate on Friday, but 'compromised' SANU and NASU union leaders conspired to remove the padlocks and the bus on Saturday. Staff took matters into their own hands to continue the strike on Monday, tied Juju to the school gate and sang solidarity songs for the 3 days. The police where present, but made no arrests as the protests where peaceful. Sadly, nobody came to address them. Instead, there have been threats of sacks and dismissal as the union leaders have been bought over and names are being parried to become scapegoats. The school recently held its first convocation with dignitaries like Atiku and Kachukwu present. The Chancellor, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Attahiru Mohammad, CON, Emir of Zamfara, Zamfara State was also present along with other dignitaries. Many present decried the poor infrastructure in the school. The VC Prof Akii Ibadode keeps boasting that nothing can be done to him as he continues to buy over and blackmail anybody who stands in his way. Please help to read broadcast until this whistle becomes a vuvuzela!!!!!!!
