Christianity EtcStop Paying Your Pastors Less - Apostle Suleman Warns His Fellow Pastors by NaijaNewsTrend1(op): 8:49am On Oct 24, 2025
The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has cautioned church leaders against neglecting hardworking ministers under their care, stressing that even the most loyal workers can walk away if they are not properly treated or rewarded.

In a recent sermon, the cleric emphasized the importance of valuing and supporting what he described as the “Jacob kind of men.” people who are dedicated, innovative, and productive in their ministries. He said that while these individuals are assets, they can easily leave when they feel unappreciated.

The Jacob kind of men, the problem with the Jacob kind of men is that take care of them, they will go. If you start using them, they will go,” Suleman said.

He criticized the practice of paying pastors and church workers poorly despite their large congregations and contributions to the ministry’s growth. According to him, many ministers are compelled to leave not because God told them to, but because of hunger and hardship.

“I can’t understand a pastor under a mandate, under a ministry, under a commission, pastoring 1,500 people, that’s his church, that’s the attendance, and they are paying him less than a hundred dollars. You want him to stay?” he asked. “There are people that hear voices to leave not the voice of God, but the voice of hunger.”

Apostle Suleman made it clear that his advice was not an encouragement for laziness or entitlement. He distinguished between those who are genuinely productive and those who expect rewards without contribution.

“When I say taking care of people, I mean those who are productive, not somebody who just sits down doing nothing but expecting much,” he explained.

Suleman’s remarks highlight the growing conversation around fairness and welfare within ministries. He insisted that leaders who value and support their workers would enjoy stability, loyalty, and growth in their organizations.

The preacher noted that care and recognition are not merely acts of generosity but vital responsibilities that ensure the success and sustainability of any vision. “If you can’t take care of productive people, you will lose them, and with them, you lose progress,” he added.
