Bonjour à tous! glad to have come across this thread. God will continue to bless the facilitator and all others that have put in time and effort to help those on this French-for-immigration journey. The quality of information here, and then the way everyone is willing to help where they can. I also started an online class about 2 weeks ago and it’s a bit comme ci comme ça, lol. I judged it from my residual French knowledge from secondary school. I’m considering IEF online since I don’t live in Lagos and would like to know if anyone has enrolled for the online and how they find it being that their program is divided into prerecorded sessions with a zoom class follow up. Baton Rouge as well, anybody currently enrolled? Finally my own little beginner tip is to MAKE SURE YOU DIGEST those foundation lessons and if you find it difficult, French with Alexa may come in handy. As advised on the group, also listen to French, read and try doing what legends here have suggested which Ive come to call “long distance immersion “. We shall pull through victorious! |

Hello house! Good to see that there are still good people out there sharing there “missionary” experiences. I arrived Baltimore a few days ago and would once again like to share my experience. I renewed via Dropbox in Abuja and I was of course called for an interview which was rigorous! Officer asked for receipts from Atlanta and I made sure I carried zero balance, pediatrician receipts, doctors receipts, birth certificate. I got a discount for prompt payment as a self pay patient and I had to explain that to the officer as he assumed I Posed as a low income earner. I explained to to him carefully(making reference to an agreement the hospital sends even before traveling) that a person is entitled to a certain percentage of discount if they’re able to make a payment of a particular amount. I was issued at the end sha, cos he even made correction that while filling a birth certificate info next time, I should state Nigeria as country of residence and not an address on the US which was my mistake. I have used the visa to travel for holiday with the kids and I’m now back to have my baby. POE was Dulles(the queue was loooongg) but I had my 3 year old citizen and sister with me so the stress was a bit less. Spent 3 hours cos their system was not reading fingerprints. Finally finally it remained just 3 CBP officers that attended to almost 50+ travelers. Transcript went thus: Me:hello officer CBP: hello ma’am, passports pls. Are you all coming for a holiday? Me: no, I’ll be having my baby here while my sister is back to school CBP: to sister, you have your i20? Sister: yes( hands over i20) CBP : and You’re sure you have just 9700 and not more than that? Me: yes sir, that’s the exact amount. And that’s it, he just stamps us in and we didn’t even go to secondary even though I declared we brought food stuff. I dont know what is happening with the Abuja embassy sha, my husband was denied last month Ok the day they shut down the embassy. The officer didn’t look through any documents, he was just like” if your wife is having a baby why isn’t she here?” To which my husband answered that we had renewed over a year ago with our daughter” and then he handed him the pink slip. Any idea what could’ve gone wrong with such an abrupt interview? I wish all the expecting mamas( and papas) the very best of luck in this journey! It is not easy! |
Hello nairalanders! Please does anyone have any information regarding minor study visa and accompanying parent? I've seen in the Canada visa website that they issue study permits to minors which lasts 1 year and can be renewed and also an accompanying parent on a trv without study or work permit can be allowed same duration as child emphasizing the willingness to return home after duration if not renewed has expired. Anyone? |
Thank you very much for the response. I forgot to ask what type of visa I will be applying for myself as the accompanying parent. |
Hello, I would please like to know the possibility or otherwise of going to the US with my kids, a 7 year old who is a Nigerian citizen and a 2 year old who is an American citizen to continue/start their education respectively. Father works in Nigeria and will be the one sponsoring. |
Hello people! I'm back to share my little piece after the delivery of my baby at Northside hospital atlanta. Everything went smooth thankful to God. I was able to get the birth certificate with 5 days after which I made an appointment at the pAssport agency and guess what! We got the passport same day because the date I booked for my return to Nigeria was just a week from the day we had the appointment( planned on shifting the date depending on the number of days the passport will take). Requested the SSN at the time of filling the form for the bc and also got it in the mail about 5 working days after we collected the bc( it said on the form that it takes up to 5 weeks for it to be out), we also applied for a Nigerian passport at the consulate and got it in 3 days. All in all it took less than two weeks to get everything. Thanks be to Almighty God for it could be a totally different story. If anybody is considering atlanta and has questions, do send an email and I will try my best to response! P.s also got my zero balance from the hospital and even a refund of $255 from the hospital as my bill didn't reach the estimate they gave before I made the down payment which qualifies me for the discount they give to self pay patients. |
@kaecy5 I'm sure the officer meant the United states govt insurance not the international one from ones country. ![]() |
Hello nland mamas n papas to be! Let me start by saying I've been following the thread from January wen I was searching for info on child birth in the U.S. and as others have rightfully said, there is a wealth of info here, God bless the person that started it. I had already known from asking a few friends that I was leaning most toward Atlanta and finally decided in Northside, I contacted them for quotes and went ahead to look for docs affiliated with the hospital, seems there are many doctors within different price ranges. I Renewed my visa via the Dropbox service and proceeded to make plans for the trip, apartment hunting close to the hospital and all planning that comes with the trip. as advised on the thread I made a file of email correspondence with the hospital and doctors, statement of account via I didn't want to carry too much cash at one time etc. to cut the story short l have arrived Atlanta by the grace of Almighty God and this is my poe story Cbp: hello, who are these with you? Me: hi, my mother, daughter and sister Cbp: okay, where are you going from here? Me: Atlanta is our final destination cbp: and reason for your trip? Me: here to have my baby Cbp: alright, how much do you have? Me: about 9000 between us and rest in credit card. Cbp: calls us to scan our fingerprints and didn't send us to secondary inspection. When we reached the last officers to submit the blue form we were taken to sec inspection probably cos we declared food. 2nd cbp: hello, what's the purpose of your trip? Me: child birth 2nd Cbp: how much do u have? Me; about 9000 between us 2nd cbp: do u plan on using any form of insurance? Me: no, paying all bills by myself 2nd cbp: that's good, because using any form of insurance in the United states by a non citizen is illegal and Can lead to a jail term, do you understand? Me: yes I do. 2nd cbp: alright, do u have food and vegetables? Me: no vegetables but we do have dried food stuff. 2nd cbp: bring your bags here And he hands us the clearance card without checking the bags. A lady mentioned compression socks somewhere here, God bless you! That's all folks, next is hospital story. Praying for it to be as favourable. |
@Rama24 you can also visit awhg.org/com to find docs affiliated with Northside. |
Hello vo! I would please like to know what it means for visa status to be on "administrative processing" through the Dropbox program as it said on the consular website that application through Dropbox will be adjudicated and retuned within 7-10 business days. Thank you. |
Hello vo! I would please like to know what it means to receive an email invitation for fingerprint after Dropbox. Submitted with that of a minor and also recieved and email saying that the child's passport should be picked at the dhl office. Email said that time for fingerprinting is from 1:30 to 2:30. Should I be worried about a possible denial or it's just part of a random procedure p.s have been ten printed at the embassy for last visa issuance. Thank you! |
