During the 1970s, the National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS) was founded. 10 years after in the year 1980, The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) was founded to replace The National UNION of Nigerian Students (NUNS). National Association of Nigerian Students, is an association functioning under the Federal Government of Nigeria, The association has different zones in diaspora. The NANS Turkish zone inaugurated on the 23rd of March 2015 at Girne American University. Kyrenia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Is to champion the welfare of Nigeria students in 17 countries namely:

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bulgaria

Kosovo

Moldavia
