Although it is true that a lot of development came to Nigeria after we got Independence (far more than when we were still colonised) a lot of the things that you used to support your position are not true. Firstly, there were electric power plants in Nigeria before Kainji Dam was built. Secondly, Ikoyi was not developed until much later. The Europeans lived at Marina before the Onikoyi gave them some land. In fact, Electric street lights were introduced to Lagos Island in 1898, before some European cities. Electricity was introduced to Lagos in 1886, through the use of generators. In 1919 the Colonial Government built the coal wharf at Ijora. Coal was mined in Enugu, taken to Port Harcourt and then shipped to the coal wharf at Ijora for use by the railways. The government then built the Ijora Power Station shortly afterwards. It was a coal fired plant that initially generated 20 mw of electricity for the railways, Ijora and Lagos Island in the 1920s. Its capacity was increased in the 1940s. You can still see that plant today on the Mainland side of Eko Bridge. Its twin smokestacks are unmissable.

End SARS Flag Boy is a protester who, in the aftermath of the 2020 End SARS riots, staged protests by waving Nigerian and End SARS flags from prominent positions like bridges, tall buildings and the top of trucks. In recent months he has changed his online usernames to Obi Flag Boy and he now waves Labour Party and Peter Obi flags from prominent positions.

Akin Olaoye @akintollgate @ObiFlagboy narrating the brutality he suffered at the hands of thugs along with a number of park officials in Oshodi. We call on the @PoliceNG to investigate this issue and bring the perpetrators to book. Freedom of Association is a right owed to every Nigerian.
