The bridge was vandalised. It was closed for restoration. It was reopened with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

How hard is it to understand that?

It wasn't a routine maintenance, I have written the story of De_Peters who noticed the vandalisation many times on this forum.

I think I made a series about that nonsense.

I never heard about this nonsense until the 2000s, but some Nigerians say that Nigeria is the only place in the world were projects are commissioned. That is so much nonsense!

All through the 1970s, '80s and 1990s I knew that projects were commissioned all over the world.

I listened live on the BBC World Service as Queen Elizabeth II and President Francois Mitterand commissioned the Channel Tunnel in 1994. It reminded me of what I read in my encyclopedia in the 1980s about how Queen Elizabeth and President Eisenhower commissioned the St Lawrence Seaway in the 1950s.

I KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE CELEBRATED THE REOPENING OF THEIR HOUSES AFTER MAINTENANCE!

There are also very many public examples.

Notre Dame Cathedral caught fire and had to be closed. The reopening was celebrated in the presence of the President of France and so many guests.

When new roads and bridges were being built, people complained that old roads were not being maintained and that every single road in the country must be maintained before any new road or bridge is built.

When roads and bridges are being maintained people complained that nothing should be said about it, afterall it's just maintenance.
