NIGERIA INDEPENDENCE; THE OLD CHILD CELEBRATES 57.
NasarawaReports - Ikpontu N.

Today marks a significant day in the historic book of the giant of Africa, as she marks its 57th year anniversary since her independence from colonial leadership in 1960. However, as we celebrate this day, it would be wise for us to reflect on the challenges that have torpedoed the socio-economic and socio-political structure of Nigeria.

Notably, several people and groups have frowned at the present situations facing Nigeria and the need to be relieved from the webs that have choked the nation's growth, as well as its inability to live up her old-age since independence.

Recently, the stronghold of Biafra agitation has left series of cracks on the national bridge of our independence, the killings by Fulani Herdsmen and several cases of religious, economic, ethnic and political permutations have also questioned the structure that binds the nation together.

Over time, we have holstered situations that contradicts the values which stirs up development and growth in a nation; we have dwelt with the mentality of apportioning blames on each other; the people have accused their leaders for embezzling the Public Treasury Account, on the other hand, the leaders have blamed the people for lack of skills and vigour that could accelerate the advancement of a nation.

However, the recent political tension and revolutionary pressure facing this great nation has established the need for a collective engagement towards securing a better future for our generations yet unborn.

Obviously, we have gone a long way as nation; the time to make a sustainable paradigm shift from the present structure and system is imperatively paramount. To achieve this, we must imbibe the spirit of patriotism; we must work together as a nation; engage in sacrifices that opposes our personal interest, but upholds nation building, import strategies that can explode the values of our resources and continuously initiate the changes that we want to see individually.

Therefore, the exposition of insecurity, corruption, poverty, defunct economic strategies, low education, electoral deformity and a dilapidated democratic structure should be redefined so as to create a soft landing for the sustainable growth and development of our nation.

We are 57 years today, we are strong, we are growing though at a snailish pace, we are vibrant and we are Nigerians; the giant of Africa.
"Happy Independence Day".

God Bless Nigeria.

BIAFRA; IGBO COMMUNITY SHUNS ENGAGEMENTS WITH IPOB.
NasarawaReports - Godson Ikpontu

Chief Godwin Onemaka, leader of the Igbo community has trashed the agitation of the Indigenous people of Biafra, urging them to reflect on the collateral damages and prevailing consequences which the movement will expose.

He commended the south eastern governors for reviewing the weight of the matter. Chief Godwin Onemaka, made this assertions during an interview at Adamawa state with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) today. Onemaka cited the devastating impact of a civil war and the need to shun the movement so as to maintain peace and unity in Nigeria.

the leader of the Igbo community said that the Biafra agitation has failed and there is no need to restart it; the agitators should consider the interests of the Igbos in other parts of the country. “We are looking for a way of developing ourselves and the country while most of us have invested much outside south eastern part of the country, he says.

However, he cleared the air on the position of Igbo community in Adamawa state, he says “we want to distance ourselves from the agitations, we have lived in the northern part of the country for years and our children have studied there, most of whom are graduates now,’’ Onemaka said.
The leader also commended the south eastern state governors for intervening in the matter but expressed concern about declaring the agitators as terrorists.

NasarawaReports gathered that the Ndigbo Peace Movement and Arewa Groups have stressed on the need for peaceful co-existence not-withstanding our ethnic and religious differences.

IPOB HAS BEEN DECLARED A TERRORIST GROUP
NasarawaReports.

Finally, the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted an order declaring the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist organisation.
According to Sahara Reporters, this order was filed by the attorney-general of the federation, Abubakar Malami on Wednesday, September 20. He stated that their activities reflects terrorism and illegallities.
Some Nigerians have reacted to the judgement by the Federal high Court to be fair, but the truth remains that what has to be done must be done early enough to prevent any further activities by the group.

HERDSMEN AND IPOB; WHICH IS A TERRORIST GROUP?
- NasarawaReports.
Terrorism is a deliberate act of violence by any group or person to create an emotional response through the suffering of civilians in the furtherance of a political or social agenda. However, with the above definition we can clearly decipher which among the Fulani Herdsmen or IPOB is indeed a terrorist group.

Nigeria has experienced several local crisis ranging from religious mishaps, tribal misunderstanding, sectional problems and political crisis. Amongst these crisis fuelled by various group is the recent killings perpetrated by Fulani Herdsmen in the north, and the movement by the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) for a new country in a country -what a myopic vision.
However, the similarities in their ideology differs; the Fulani herdsmen are clamouring for a cause that justifies their operation as Nigerians, on the other hand IPOB is engaging a movement that satisfies her selfish interest and is capable of establishing a civil war.

Considering the recent savages caused by violent groups in Nigeria, it would be unfair for the leadership of this country to allow any of such developments to short-changed the growth and advancement of this country. The python operation by the Nigeria military was a wise decision because if the situation escalates, the same people who is blaming the president would criticise him for his inability to manage the situation now that it's at an Infant level.

Therefore, the enlisting of Nnamdi Kanu led IPOB as a terrorist group is indeed a plausible move, because it will help send a message to any other group with such vision.

While blaming the government on marginalisation based on the python operation in the south east, it will also be wise for us to refresh our memory on the action of the Federal government on the Shiites group and its leader in the Northern region.

The government is therefore encouraged to continue in its radical approach in managing such crisis. More oil to the strategic engine of Mr. President.

INSECURITY; NORTHERN RESIDENT CLAMOUR FOR ALI KWARA'S SECURITY TACTICS TO COMBAT CRIME.
- NasarawaReports

Northern Nigeria have witnessed several and countless security challenges in recent times, and it’s sheered impact is indeed devastating. However, residents in the north have expressed imperative dissatisfaction to the outrageous damages caused by perpetrators, as well as the need to secure a firm solution to issues of insecurity and crime management in the nation.‎ Owing to the rate of increase in crimes like kidnapping, car snatching, armed robbery, drug and human trafficking etc, in the north, residents have cried out to the government seeking and recommending private security experts with the technical intelligence, approach and crime control tactics required to efficiently combat crime in the northern part of Nigeria; saying that the activities of the Nigeria police force needs to be supplemented.

In the request by residents in the north, the call for proper empowerment and reinforcement of “Ali Kwara Crime Control Team” was predominant.
“Ali Kwara”, who is a nightmare to criminals in the north, a pain in the ass of kidnap kingpins and a household name in crime control has recently maintained a cold feet to insecurity issues in the north, but the recommendations by elites and residents in the north will probe his present position on security matters. Notably, he has been recommended as a person who is capable to carefully and strategically bring an end to the challenges of insecurity in northern Nigeria based on his previous success and achievements in crime control.

While reacting to the demands and recommendations of the people, Alex Nwankwo, the media aid to Mr. Ali Kwara told journalists during a press briefing at his Gwarinpa office yesterday, that his boss is willing and able to take up any task that relates to security check in the country. He went further to buttress on the role Ali Kwara played in tactically returning discipline, safety and peace to northern Nigeria during the early years of the millennium. Nwankwo stated that if Mr. Ali Kwara is encouraged and empowered by the federal government, the issues of insecurity in the north will be thrown overboard.

However, one Babangida Usman, a trader in Kano reacted to the present situation of crime misplacement saying that “there has been so much stealing and snatching of cars, robbery in markets and home, today is one kidnap case, tomorrow is another”. He added that the Nigeria police is trying and their effort needs support because the situation is fast deteriorating.‎
Mr. Babangida went further to narrate his experience, he says “I remember when I was doing business in Bauchi, I recall clearly the impact of Ali Kwara led vigilante; the impact was evident and the fight was indeed a success because it restored discipline, safety and peace to the people”. He added that president Buhari should explore the skills and strategies of Ali Kwara in combating crime and insecurity in the northern region of Nigeria.

Aruwa sadiq from Kaduna, a member of MBO also challenged the Nigeria government saying that military interventions on civil related issues is undemocratic. He sustained his assertion by saying that the need to encourage and empower the likes of Ali Kwara is sin qua non. He identified the recent outbreak of crisis in several states, saying that this wouldn’t have been if we had local security experts that can engage quick interventions when there is such outbreak.
Therefore, considering the trends of revolution in our democracy, it will paramount for the government to respond to the request of the people so as to maintain peace, safety and discipline in the north.‎

SHOCKING; EL' RUFAI EXPOSED FOR ROLE IN CHIBOK GIRLS ABDUCTION.
- NasarawaReports

The Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan has exposed the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El' Rufai for the role he played with assisting Boko Haram in Chibok Girls abduction.

The Minister made this assertion while reacting to El Rufai's speech on her preference for Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming 2019 Presidential election. She said there are lot of things Nigerians needs to know about the planning and execution of Chibok girl kidnapping because those behind it will be unmasked very soon. The intention was very obvious, to defame and blackmail PDP and Jonathan out of power.

She went further saying that "El Rufai was among those who plotted against Jonathan by tactically supporting Boko Haram and the Kidnap of Chibok girls, the information is out there where he lied that Jonathan wanted to kill him and other top members of APC by raising a false alarm about "sniper list". No sane Nigerian will take El Rufai serious because he is an unrepentant addicted liar".

Going by the claims of Aisha Alhassan, the Minister of Women Affairs and social development, El Rufai who is received by Nigerians as a disciplined, intellectual and proactive leader might now be having a dent in his political image.
The outrageous claims by the Minister, if proven to be substantial will go a long way at damaging the political image and career of Gov. Nasir El Rufai.

The Minister sustained her position on the 2019 elections saying that she isn't a coward, she says "Buhari is my President and one of the fathers of my party APC, if I can’t be real with my choice of Atiku, then it would amount to eye service, I am not that kind of person".

She went further to expose the ills of El Rufai when she referenced Former President Obasanjo's book “My Watch”. She said the book gave a valid description of who the midget El Rufai is; he thrives on stabbing the hands that feeds him just to rise politically, he can lie and kill so far he will rise in his political career not minding the pain he is inflicting on others, one of such is his supervision of the mass killing and hurriedly burying of over 1,000 Shiites killed in Kaduna.

She concluded by saying that she will personally meet with President Buhari and explain herself to him, "after all I am a politician, for those who have gone ahead to plant a corruption story about me in the media, you are just wasting your time" she added.

ALAGO PEOPLE; DISCOVERING THEIR CULTURES, VALUE AND HISTORY.
- NasarawaReports.

Nigeria is a heterogeneous society with over 250 million ethnic groups and languages but notable among these many entities are; Hausa-Fulani in the Northern axis of the country; second is the Yoruba nation in the Western part of the country; and the enterprising Igbo in the Eastern axis of the country.

Apart from these three major ethnic groups in Nigeria, it will be absurd not too bring to fore, other wonderful tribes. On the front burner is, one of the principal ethic groups in Nasarawa State namely; Alago.

The people of Alago tribe at present, are occupying 3 Local Government Areas in Nasarawa- Obi, Keana, Doma, including Assakio (a community within Lafia Local Government).

Before the creation of the state by the then Military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in 1996, the people of Alago were subordinately and geographically part of Plateau State.

Tracing the path of history, it is established that the Alago nation originally migrated from the defunct Jukun Kingdom (in present day Taraba State) dated back to 800 AD as they finally found their homes in Keana; Doma; Obi; and Assakio respectively.

No historical account on the people of Alago tribe will be complete without an apt reference to Akyana Adi- a titanic ancestor and leader of the Alago nation who remains their pathfinder from Jukun Kingdom to their present destinations.

Topographic Features:
Keana, Doma, Obi and Assakio (ancestral homes of the Alago folks) are characterized with both flat and rocky terrains. They are blessed with attractive and scintillating scenery. And their ever-flowing rivers are; Akyana Bgobgo; Akyana Poole and One.

Land Mass and Population:
The Alago nation rests on expense of land estimated at about 3,762.1km² and a total population of about 219.607 at the 2006 census. Alago as a language has about 219.607 native speakers.

Religion:
The dominant religions practised by vast majority are: Islam and Christianity with an extremely population of traditional believers.

Indigenous Economic Activities:
The land is graced with industrious and hardworking men and women. But there is one phenomenal belief that farming is a reserve for men and salt business (both extraction and refining) is predominantly women's economic venture.

Marriage:
Inter-tribal marriage is highly encouraged among the people of Alago. This is evident in the agelong peaceful co-habitation with neighbouring tribes such as; Gwandara; Eggon; Koro; Tiv and many others.

Food:
Their several palatable local delicacies made the tribe stand exceptional in the league of other tribes in the country. And one of these delicacies is, Madidi (or alternatively called Agidi)- it is porridge made with flour from corn. Madidi can be served with either Moi-moi, beans or vegetable soup.

Notable Personas:
To many people, the tribe might sound so strange and perhaps, unfamiliar. But it is pretty interesting to learn that Alago as a tribe has produced (still producing) many notable and illustrious intelligentsia who have served (and still serving) the country in different capacities, popular among them are;

1. Alhaji Ahamadu Oga Onawo (Andoma of Doma).

2. Alhaji Abdulahi Osana Hayattudeen (Emir of Keana).

3. Mike Omeri (A former Director General, National Orientation Agency).

4. Musa Elaborate (A Former Minister of State For Justice Under Olusegun Obasanjo)

5. Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma (A former governor of Nasarawa State).

6. Yahya Adam Major (Former Majority Leader in the State House of Assembly) .

7. Hamza Elayo (Secretary to the State Government in Tanko Al-Makura's first tenure.

8. Senator Suleiman Adobe (A Serving Senator)

There are thousands of personalities of Alago extraction, but just to mention a few.

Please note that; this epochal piece is subject to correction as it might not carry the ins and outs of the Alago nation. In light of this, the piece is predicted on materials available us in the course of our research. We therefore, plead that our shortcomings be waived. Thanks and happy reading.

PoliticsHon. Tanko Zubairu Meets With Trade Associations Over Karu Market Commissioning. by NasarawaReports(op): 1:56pm On Aug 15, 2017
KARU INTERNATIONAL MARKET COMMISSIONING; COMMISIONER MEETS WITH TRADE ASSOCIATIONS TO DISCUSS DELAYS.
-NasarawaReports.

The Commissioner of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Tanko Zubairu met with trade associations yesterday to discuss the worries, delays and outrageous rates of shop allocations at the Karu International Market. The impressive meeting which witnessed the presence of the Director of Ministry of commerce and industry, President of trade association in Nasarawa State, chairman of Trade unions in Karu Local Government and several heads of trade associations revealed the absurd delays, pains and concealed tears of potential traders for Karu International Market.
During the conversation, the commissioner asked the trade associations to provide answers to the questions of what has delayed traders from entering the market, the identification of associations that haven’t received allocations and when the market will be opened? He emphasized on the eagerness of the state governor at ensuring an immediate operation and business transaction in the market. Contrarily, the chairmen of several trade associations reacted by commenting on the high rates of shop allocations, the unfair distribution of shop allocations and the incessant promises by the state government to officially commission the market.
Reacting to the complains on the rates of shop allocation, Hajia Ramatu Junde, the Director of State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Acting Permanent Secretary calmed the waves by unveiling the new reduced rates of shop allocations to traders and the reduction on the time interval for the allocation. She noted that the 5years allocation interval has been reduced to two years and the cost slashed to an even division so as to accommodate the interest of petty traders who could not afford the rates that the consultant (Abuja Market Management Limited) placed on their 50Percent allocation share.
However, the commissioner also identified the plights of Timber and building Material traders by encouraging them to move into the market, as they will be given sufficient locations and security to ensure that they operate efficiently. He reiterated that His Excellency, Governor Tanko Almakura is committed to the interest of Timber and building material traders. He also cautioned trade association leaders to refrain from the act of giving out illegal and outrageous allocation rates to traders.
Eventually, the meeting came to an end with a feeling of relief and happiness, as a member of staff in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Haruna Mainingi told NararwaReports that he observed smiles on the faces of traders as well as a great reliance of the on the words of the commissioner after he assured them that the market will be commissioned sooner than their expectations.
