KARU INTERNATIONAL MARKET COMMISSIONING; COMMISIONER MEETS WITH TRADE ASSOCIATIONS TO DISCUSS DELAYS.
-NasarawaReports.

The Commissioner of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Tanko Zubairu met with trade associations yesterday to discuss the worries, delays and outrageous rates of shop allocations at the Karu International Market. The impressive meeting which witnessed the presence of the Director of Ministry of commerce and industry, President of trade association in Nasarawa State, chairman of Trade unions in Karu Local Government and several heads of trade associations revealed the absurd delays, pains and concealed tears of potential traders for Karu International Market.
During the conversation, the commissioner asked the trade associations to provide answers to the questions of what has delayed traders from entering the market, the identification of associations that haven’t received allocations and when the market will be opened? He emphasized on the eagerness of the state governor at ensuring an immediate operation and business transaction in the market. Contrarily, the chairmen of several trade associations reacted by commenting on the high rates of shop allocations, the unfair distribution of shop allocations and the incessant promises by the state government to officially commission the market.
Reacting to the complains on the rates of shop allocation, Hajia Ramatu Junde, the Director of State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Acting Permanent Secretary calmed the waves by unveiling the new reduced rates of shop allocations to traders and the reduction on the time interval for the allocation. She noted that the 5years allocation interval has been reduced to two years and the cost slashed to an even division so as to accommodate the interest of petty traders who could not afford the rates that the consultant (Abuja Market Management Limited) placed on their 50Percent allocation share.
However, the commissioner also identified the plights of Timber and building Material traders by encouraging them to move into the market, as they will be given sufficient locations and security to ensure that they operate efficiently. He reiterated that His Excellency, Governor Tanko Almakura is committed to the interest of Timber and building material traders. He also cautioned trade association leaders to refrain from the act of giving out illegal and outrageous allocation rates to traders.
Eventually, the meeting came to an end with a feeling of relief and happiness, as a member of staff in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Haruna Mainingi told NararwaReports that he observed smiles on the faces of traders as well as a great reliance of the on the words of the commissioner after he assured them that the market will be commissioned sooner than their expectations.
