PoliticsRe: Tinubu Has Finished APC As Aggrieved APC Members Shout At Tinubu To Do One Term by nasbrown390: 8:23am On Oct 22, 2024
Who is this brave man? i l;ike His courage pls who knows his full name?
ch214:
Tinubu's Turbulent Term

Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, after winning the 2023 election, has failed to improve the standard of living in Nigeria while his harsh policy attract mixed reactions from his own party members. Some were ecstatic, while others were aggrieved, feeling that Tinubu's leadership would spell doom for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.

Tinubu inability to fulfill his campaign promises have be greeted by shouting match from disgruntled APC members. "One term, one term!" they chanted, demanding that he should not seek re-election. The tension among APC members are palpable, and as Tinubu's tribesmen are struggling to convince him to contests for second term.

One of the aggrieve APC member, a former APC stalwart, criticise Tinubu, "You've finished our party, sir," he said, his voice trembling. "Your leadership has divided us, and we'll never recover from this." Tinubu has failed Nigerians.

The ongoing aggrieve APC members protests have been going on for sometime now with some members calling for Tinubu's resignation. But the president-elect remained resolute, convinced that he was the right man to lead the party and the country but the underlying tensions remained.

Tinubu knew that he faced an uphill battle to unite his party and deliver on his campaign promises. But he was determined to prove his critics wrong, to show that he was more than just a divisive figure. The question was, could he succeed where others had failed?

Shettima is a Kanuri. Not Fulani. If T-Pain is gone, (understand that T-Pain is old and have been sick even before entering power); then that's a good one, (though I don't wish him that) Nigeria doesn't belong to anyone, it belongs to God and God knows how best to move this country forward
PoliticsRe: A Cursory Look Into Nnamdi Kanu And His Legal Team - The Pinocchio Lawyer And Hi by nasbrown390: 5:09pm On Sep 30, 2024
This is really amazing..... Kanu's counsel did nothing but display of unprofessionalism to attract public sympathy
BawaUmar:
In a climate of heightened scrutiny and controversy, lawyers representing clients in detention have increasingly turned to public platforms to voice their frustrations. Often, these legal advocates engage in a campaign of rhetoric aimed at garnering public sympathy by criticizing government actions and the agencies that they believe are responsible for holding their clients.

I will liken this to the advent of “Pinocchio lawyer" a term that evokes the image of the infamous wooden puppet whose nose grows longer with each lie—raises important questions about the ethics of legal representation and the line between zealous advocacy and deception.

Recently, Aloy Ejimakor, lead counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, took to social media, employing emotionally charged language to portray his client as a victim of an overreaching government. He released video footage alleging that the Department of State Services, DSS blocked Kanu’s legal team from accessing him, while inadvertently portraying the agency and other law enforcement bodies as untrustworthy.

While such strategies may aim to rally public opinion and influence the judicial process, they raise critical questions about the balance between legitimate advocacy and sensationalism. Critics argue that while it is essential for lawyers to defend their clients vigorously, resorting to public attacks on the government can detract from substantive legal arguments.

It can also be recalled that during the last trial the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice Binta Nyako, recused herself from the trial. Reports suggest Nnamdi Kanu and his legal team expressed a lack of confidence in the court's ability to conduct a fair trial. Despite this, Ejimakor attempted to persuade the court to suspend proceedings, arguing that his client had been denied the opportunity to adequately prepare his defense.

The Pinocchio analogy is particularly apt here. Just as Pinocchio’s lies transformed him from a simple wooden puppet into a creature of deception, lawyers who indulge in hyperbolic claims risk distorting the truth of their cases. By portraying clients as victims of an overreaching system or by fabricating narratives about legal injustices, these lawyers not only undermine the integrity of their profession but also jeopardize the pursuit of justice.

Moreover, this tactic can create a paradox where the very public sympathy sought may lead to a backlash. In some cases, the rhetoric employed can be perceived as an attempt to undermine the government, security agencies, and the legal system in the land, potentially alienating potential supporters who value justice and due process. As the public becomes increasingly aware of these strategies, there is a risk that they may grow weary of the constant barrage of accusations, leading to skepticism regarding the motivations of those seeking to garner sympathy.

As Nigeria's legal landscape continues to evolve, it is crucial for legal practitioners to reflect on their methods. Striking a balance between effective advocacy and maintaining respect for the legal system is essential in serving both the public and their clients while upholding the principles of truth and justice.

PoliticsRe: Dss Arrest Of Ajaero: Matters Arising by nasbrown390: 4:53pm On Sep 10, 2024
What the DSS did was a display of professionalism. in fact, if they (the DSS) had allowed Ajaero to escape, they would have been unprofessional in discharging their duty. recall that he also failed to honor the Police invitation until the IGP issued arrest warrant. No country can condone this act of disrespect. Ajaero should respect himself.
silica:
The arrest of President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Mr. Joe Ajaero by the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja has sparked a lot of discuss across the media space. While some argue that the arrest is a blatant violation of his rights, others believe that lawful arrests is a legal tool in security operations and necessary to uphold law and order.
On its part, the DSS has stated that Ajaero failed to honour its invitation and could therefore not be allowed to leave the country when he was the subject of a major investigation. The agency contended that failure to make himself available voluntarily for an interview despite repeated invitations, raised serious concerns about the nature of his involvement in ongoing investigations. Therefore his attempt to leave the country was rightly viewed as an attempt to evade lawful investigation.
We must understand that security is a collective responsibility between the citizens and security organisations, and cooperation with law enforcement agencies is a key principle of maintaining a safe society. This requires that individuals comply with lawful requests and invitations as failure to do so can undermine the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts and potentially jeopardize public safety. This position is valid for every citizen irrespective of the position they hold in society. In fact, cooperation with security agencies is particularly important for individuals who hold positions of influence and authority as they set examples for others who look up to them.
The public should understand that the DSS has a duty to protect national security and public safety. This responsibility may involve investigating potential threats to the state or society at large including those involving high profile individuals like the NLC president. What is important is that these actions are taken with utmost professionalism and respect for the rule of law.
Thus far, the new man at the helm of the DSS, Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi has pledged his commitment to ensuring professionalism and retuning the agency to its core mandate. The prompt release of Mr. Ajaero on bail by the agency suggests that the new DG may be reforming the secret police and its operations. This is in contrast with what was obtained in the past where suspects are held for long without bail or charged to court.
While there is need to protect human rights and democratic freedom, maintaining law and order as well as the security of the citizens is equally very important. The new DSS DG appears to be striking the balance between these competing interests, with the handling of the arrest of the labour leader. We can only pray that things continue to get better in the coming days.

Shall I not show you something by means of which Allah will forgive your sins, the first and the last of them, the past and recent, the unintentional and the intentional, the small and huge, the secret and open? The Holy Prophet ﷺ then taught him the Salah al-Tasbih. Furthermore he advised him that it be offered daily, if possible.
