ASIWAJU DAPO WAHAB FOUNDATION SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH FRSC ON DRUG-FREE ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN As part of activities marking the 2026 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation delegation, led by its Global President, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP, paid a courtesy visit to the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Igboora Unit Command, Oyo State. During the visit, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab commended the FRSC for its commitment to road safety and proposed a strategic partnership to organize drug abuse sensitization programmes for commercial motorcycle riders, motorists, and transport unions. He stressed the importance of discouraging driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, while promoting responsible road use and safer communities. In his response, the Unit Commander, ACC Judge J. Daniels, PSC, MNIM, commended Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab and the Foundation for their dedication to the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. ASIWAJU DAPO WAHAB DELIVERS KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT 2026 WORLD DRUG DAY COMMEMORATION. The Global President of the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation Inc., Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP, delivered a keynote address at the commemoration of the 2026 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking held at the NDLEA Area Command Headquarters, Igboora, Oyo State. The event was organized by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Igboora Area Command, in collaboration with the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation Inc., as part of efforts to promote drug abuse prevention, public awareness, youth engagement, and the campaign for a drug-free society. Delivering a keynote address titled "The World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses," Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab described drug abuse as not only a law enforcement issue but also a serious public health, social, and development challenge affecting families, communities, and nations. He highlighted the growing concerns of substance abuse among young people, noting its links to school dropouts, crime, mental health challenges, family breakdown, reduced productivity, and increased pressure on healthcare systems. Speaking on emerging threats, he warned about the increasing use of social media, digital platforms, and online networks by drug traffickers to target and recruit young people. He also raised concerns about the growing availability of synthetic drugs and other dangerous substances that pose significant risks to society. The Foundation President called for innovative and coordinated responses to the drug problem through prevention, education, youth empowerment, community engagement, rehabilitation, and stronger collaboration among government agencies, civil society organizations, schools, religious institutions, traditional leaders, and families. Addressing students and young people present at the event, he urged them to stay away from drugs and remain focused on their education, talents, and future aspirations. According to him, Your future is too valuable to be traded for a momentary pleasure from drugs. Protect your dreams, protect your health, and protect your destiny. He further reaffirmed the commitment of the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation Inc. to supporting drug abuse prevention campaigns, school sensitization programmes, youth mentorship initiatives, community engagement activities, and partnerships aimed at building safer, healthier, and drug-free communities. He also called on parents, schools, religious institutions, community leaders, and government agencies to work together in addressing the root causes of drug abuse and providing positive opportunities for young people. ODEDA ZONAL CDC HOLDS JUNE STATUTORY MEETING AT ISOKAN ACDC The Odeda Zonal Community Development Committee (CDC) held its monthly statutory meeting on 24th June 2026 at Isokan ACDC, where several issues affecting the development and administration of the Zone were discussed and resolutions reached. The meeting observed a moment of condolence for the late Youth Representative of Bode-Olude ACDC and a delegation led by the Zonal Vice Chairman was constituted to pay a condolence visit to the bereaved family on behalf of the Zone. The *Zonal Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Igbagbodoyin Iyasere,* appreciated community leaders across the Zone for their support towards the successful hosting of the recently concluded Ogun State CDC Standing Committee Meeting. He also apologized for the quality of refreshments served during the event, attributing it to financial commitments towards the forthcoming Odeda Community Day celebration. The house was informed that Odeda Community Day is expected to hold in either August or September, subject to the date of the Ogun State Community Day celebration. The approved attire for the event has been released and will be distributed through ACDC Chairmen. In addition, each ACDC is expected to contribute ₦10,000 towards the success of the programme. To strengthen compliance with constitutional provisions, all ACDC Chairmen were directed to ensure that CDAs under their jurisdiction conduct their Annual General Meetings without delay while the deadline for compliance was fixed for the end of July 2026. On political participation, community leaders were advised to remain responsible and avoid actions capable of causing division within their communities. Members were reminded that they are free to belong to political parties of their choice, provided their activities do not undermine community peace and development. The Zone also announced an embargo on the creation of new ACDCs, particularly those that do not meet the requirements prescribed by law. Furthermore, the meeting reiterated the approved charges relating to CDA certification and registration, with ₦3,000 payable to the ACDC Chairman and ₦3,000 payable to State Officers for each certified CDA. The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to unity, community development, and adherence to established guidelines across the Zone. Report by Comr. WDC STATE LEADERSHIP ENGAGES EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF ADO-ODO/OTA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND WDC ADO-ODO/OTA CHAPTER The leadership of the Ward Development Committee (WDC), Ogun State Council, led by the State Chairman, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP, held a strategic engagement meeting with the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adewale Lawal, FCA, and members of the WDC Ado-Odo/Ota LG at the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Secretariat. The engagement, hosted by the WDC Ado-odo / Ota LG, provided an opportunity for discussions on strengthening primary healthcare services, promoting community participation, and enhancing collaboration between the Ward Development Committee and Local Government authorities. Upon arrival, the State WDC leadership was warmly received by the Executive Chairman, the Health Secretary of the Local Government, Dr. Bakare Jelili Adediran, and other key stakeholders. The delegation also toured the Health Department and relevant facilities within the Secretariat to assess ongoing efforts aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the Local Government Area. In his welcome remarks, the Chairman of WDC Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government and State Vice Chairman of WDC Ogun State, Hon. Idowu Ojumo Olukayode, appreciated the State leadership for bringing the engagement to Ado-Odo/Ota and reaffirmed the commitment of the local WDC structure to supporting healthcare development initiatives. Speaking during the engagement, *the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adewale Lawal, FCA,* commended the Ward Development Committee for its role in promoting grassroots healthcare development. He highlighted various interventions of his administration in supporting Primary Health Care services across the 16 wards of the Local Government and reiterated his commitment to working closely with the WDC to improve health outcomes within the communities. The Health Secretary, Dr. Bakare Jelili Adediran, also praised the efforts and conduct of WDC members across the Local Government. He expressed appreciation to the Local Government Chairman for his continuous support to the health sector and thanked the State WDC leadership for choosing Ado-Odo/Ota as the venue for the engagement. Responding, the WDC Ogun State chairman *Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP*, thanked the Executive Chairman and the people of Ado-Odo/Ota for the warm reception accorded to the State leadership. In a goodwill message issued to mark the annual observance, the Foundation expressed solidarity with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and other stakeholders working to combat the global drug problem and its devastating impact on public health, security, peace, and sustainable development. The Ward Development Committee (WDC) Ogun State Council, in collaboration with the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), has taken a significant step towards improving maternal health and strengthening primary healthcare services with the successful commencement of the IBP-SPARK Project Activities (June–December 2026). The project inception meeting was held on Friday, 19th June 2026, at the JDPC Office, Ijebu-Ode, and brought together key stakeholders committed to improving health outcomes across Ogun State. The programme, moderated by Mr. Olaitan Olumide of JDPC, attracted 28 participants, including 21 members of the WDC State Executive Committee and representatives of various Civil Society Organizations working in the health and development sectors. Participants reviewed previous project activities and lessons learned from earlier interventions, while also discussing practical strategies for the successful implementation of the IBP-SPARK project over the next six months. A major feature of the meeting was the breakout sessions where participants were divided into three groups to develop action plans aimed at improving maternal health services and strengthening primary healthcare systems across the state. Key areas of discussion included community outreach programmes, referral systems between Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) and health facilities, health insurance enrollment for pregnant women, community feedback mechanisms, maternal health town hall meetings, advocacy for increased healthcare funding, and strengthening accountability in health financing. During the group presentations, participants shared innovative ideas and practical recommendations designed to increase community participation, improve healthcare access, and promote sustainable maternal health interventions throughout Ogun State. In her closing remarks, the *Deputy Director of the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Mrs. Ireti Disu*, commended the leadership of the WDC Ogun State Council, particularly *the State Chairman, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP*, for his commitment to promoting community participation and strengthening healthcare interventions. She also appreciated all participants for their active engagement and encouraged continued collaboration towards achieving the goals of the project. Following the programme, the WDC Ogun State Executive Committee held a strategic meeting to review the outcomes of the engagement and discuss next steps for effective implementation of the IBP-SPARK project across the state.
