Chiefs: (In union) “oba atopeye’’ (Long Live the King)
King Osage: Ise!
King Osage: Great sons of the land I greet you, it is with great joy that we have seen today, may “Ogena” be praised for granting you journey mercy to the palace from the different small villages you have all come. Once again you are welcome, but my chiefs you all know what we have been going through, Our people says, a man cannot be in the river and allow soap to blind his eyes this is why I have called you to seek your opinion about my problem of not having a child not even a female child don’t you think the gods want to punish me, is there anything I am not doing in the right way?
Chief Osaro: Oh! King Osage: Second Wife?

SCENE 2
The Palace

On stage is the queen lying on a bamboo bed and the king Osage beside her as they awaits the chief priestess Mekewe.
Maids: What shall we do now your majesty she is unconscious, according to the maid, she had fainted suddenly as they were coming back from the market square where she went to give alms to the poor as she normally does.
King Osage: Guards get me the chief priestess at once, and you get me some water, don’t stand there and tell me stories.
Guard: (Genuflecting) your wish is my command (runs out quickly)
King Osage: Oh gods of our land, I have perform necessary rituals, I have never deny your sacrifice, do not take my wife away from me if truly you are the one that has put this ipema (goron) on me, as Oba (enter Mekewe)
Mekewe: (chanting incantation)                                                                                      Peace be unto this household may the spirit of our ancestors be with you “ese Oba”
King Osage: Great one, eyes of the gods most favored amongst all women of her kind I greet you, please great one what is going on.
Mekewe: (kneeling down close to Olori and charting incantation) yes…,  yes finally oba the gods have answered your prayer they have planted a seed in a sandy soil making it fruitful.
King Osage: (confused) em……em great one I don’t understand, please let the cat out of the bag
Mekewe: you shall have a son of your own he will be your successor the future of Benin kingdom will be in his hands (moving away)
King Osage: may the gods be praised.
(Light Fades)
SCENE 3
Ohi`s Farm

On stage is Rukewe and Ohi, discussing in the farm
Rukewe: (shouting from afar) ohi, ohi “feme”!
Ohi: (anxiously) who is shouting my name as if I am a debtor ehn.
