Two Nigerian gay lovers recently celebrated Valentine’s Day with a loving and emotional post. One of the lovers posted pictures accompanied with a sweet note detailing their experiences as gay men.
Several social media users had different things to say about the two As lovers all over the world trooped out on social media to celebrate this year’s edition of the Valentine’s Day, two Nigerian gay lovers also used the opportunity to celebrate their relationship with touching words. One of the lovers identified as Dan Yomi on Twitter posted two loved up photos and a video of himself and his lover, accompanied with a lengthy note. Yomi in his post highlighted how their relationship has come a long way since they both made the decisions to come out as gay men and live their truth. According to him, it is their third year together as a couple and the post became necessary to celebrate themselves and also inspire other queers in Nigeria that are yet to come out and embrace their truth. Yomi narrated how he and his partner had celebrated Val in 2018 without both of their families knowing that they were in love. He said the experience inspired him to finally come out to his family months later, and live freely as a gay man. According to Yomi, his partner still took a while before he came out to his family, but he eventually did. An emotional Yomi gushed over how far they have come as gay lovers and expressed appreciation to reside in a country where they can truly be themselves. He concluded the post by calling out to all LGBTQ folks and letting them know that their feelings are valid. Yomi reassured them that being who they are is not a sin, and they would get to live their truth someday.
