‎At 6am while men were still engrossed in meditation, you sneaked into nairaland to call me names. You went extra length to turn it into a screenshot.
‎It's obvious you were aware of your deeds. You really knew what you were doing. By deviating from the topic of his post, you set him up for drags but he was two steps ahead of you.
‎A fact is different from a blanket statement. If I say that the average Naija domainer is an impostor, it is a fact which you would term a blanket statement in your usual style. It is a fact because most naija domainers assume false identities by creating fake email addresses for the purpose of outbound.
‎True or false?
‎The guy is even pleading on your behalf but you're still trying to throw him under the bus. People around you should watch their backs.
I'm very disappointed.

Expected something much better from you, like asking for evidence to back up the very paragraph you attacked.

it's also clear for all to see that you lack understanding of what a blanket statement means.

Your fruitless effort to bring the guy to join you is even more shameful. His assertion that something is "inherently wrong with the average Naija domain investor" is blanket statement anywhere in the world, and even the guy himself will admit that was a bad generalisation. In your own warped understanding, that's throwing him under the bus.

Aren't you the same guy that attacked Iyke, instead of delivering your criticism in a proper manner?

Your character is disgusting, and I swear I won't engage you or anyone else further on this.

You have the stage now, show us your dancing skills.

Your 2nd to last paragraph gave you away. Do you know what a blanket statement is? You didn't read to understand. Comprehension skills is definitely far from you niq.qa. You didn't even address his post. You clearly went for an outright attack but unfortunately he saw through your theatrics and handled it maturely. Now you are all famzing up and giving advice that was never sought. Bow your head in shame

Thank you my bro.
But we're talking about entirely different things. My post highlighted about buyers insisting on knowing how much I purchased a domain I want to wholesale while you're talking about buyers lowballing.
Lowballing has never been a problem to me. It is part of negotiation but what should it be called when they are asking how much you acquired the domain they want to buy from you?
I hope you get it now.
I totally got you, bro. Right from the beginning.

The ultimate goal of the person asking for your acquisition price is to lowball you and never go above a certain threshold.

That's exactly why I likened it to the experience I highlighted earlier. Just ignore the person. I personally wouldn't have even bothered showing my purchase price, like you did.

Fun fact: one the names I tried selling on namepros then eventually sold for $3k+ on the old Squadhelp, less than a month after that experience. It's now the home of a Swiss-based crypto platform till date.

So, keep your name, if the buyer's offer doesn't meet your wholesale valuation. You never can tell.

There's something inherently wrong with the average Naija domain investor.
If you like a domain and wish to purchase it wholesale knowing fully well how much retail the domain could command, why are you so much interested in what the owner purchased it if you no be winch grin
Now I don post purchase price with evidence, you don dey observe table manners lol
I don't know whom you had this experience with here, but it's also totally wrong to attribute that to Naija domain investors.

It's a known fact that domainers all over the world derive joy in pricing down names once they're acquiring from a fellow investor, but suddenly lose their senses when names of similar or lower quality is in auction.

I've personally tried to sell 5 Atom premium domains for $100 on namepros some years ago, but changed my mind when one idiot over there offered to pay $10 each for them, despite knowing that I've renewed some of them for a few years.

You could have made your grievance known without making blanket statements that holds no water.

Do better.

Pain do come like a wrecking disappointment. When u second guess on a name and delay because of over analysis and choosing doubt over ur initial jubilation of winning. Auction was won at 485 dollar.. Chai.
That was a bad miss.

Sorry for the experience, but at least you learnt something from this.

.. ..that's just bullcock.. I have never put that feature On for any of my domains. I have read somewhere it's an empty feature besides this domain name is a geo name. I am just happy for the win. It's all that count at this point even though that's not fare. Do you think I should raise a ticket?
No need. Just go to your settings and turn it off, since you don't want it.

Congratulations on your sale.

I have 2 factor authentication on. The scammer cloned Grey app so perfectly that the only way I could have detected something is fishing is if I look at the domain name to confirm it's grey .co

Also I should have been vigilant when the 2 factor SMS code came on my phone and not respond anymore.

The scammer made it look like it was actually Grey account

The safer bet for me now is to abandon Grey account totally and move to another Fintech to receive payment of my domain sales with a new email address.

I know the scammer will want to target me through email phishing next time since he knows my grey email address, even though I have changed my password. He will pretend he is Grey customer care mailing me .

Bye Bye Grey
Don't just take it like that. Grey isn't being honest with this case.

They sent the crypto to the scammer's wallet, so they should simply provide the address it went to.

Also, something tells me you need to investigate this more. What was the domain name you entered your details on? Did Grey ask you for that information so they can target that domain and take it down for the safety of their customers?

If not, then Grey themselves need to be held more accountable. You never can tell.

How were the scammers so efficient to mirror their platform and all of its features and functionalities, so much so that you didn't spot any difference?

Ask more questions.

Do not make complaint on Twitter to Grey App or any other Fintech App. Scammers are cloning their handles to scam customer's money.

Yesterday was the saddest day of my life. A scammer defrauded me of $2,697 by sending me link through DM as if it's Grey App to resolve my Grey card issue not accepting payments on domain registrars to buy domains for some time now.

I foolishly entered my log in details into the link that mirror Grey App perfectly and he had access to my Grey App, stole $2,697 by converting it to USDC on Grey and move it out before Grey was able to block my account after I emailed them ASAP.

It's when I saw the debit alerts I noticed I had just been scammed.

Please be very careful both on Twitter and nairaland.

If Grey cards had been working to buy domains recently, I wouldn't have been in this situation. I wouldn't have tagged them on Twitter to complaint and a scammer wouldn't have disguise as Grey to DM me.
Deeply sorry for this experience, and what a sum to lose at this time.

Also, we should avoid leaving large sums inside most of this fintech apps, unless we're making payments with it ASAP.

X as well needs to do better about fake accounts. It's just too much these days. The painful part is that there's 90% possibility that it's a fellow country man that ran you that street.

Finally, Grey should be able to provide the address the crypto went to. We can start from there to see if the receiving platform can be identified.

Hello all

I think someone mentioned being able to receive funds from Atom to GTB naira account directly without Grey in between. Pls anyone with helpful info on how to go about it?
Yes, Atom sends payment directly to Nigerian account through Stripe. You only need to provide your account details directly in your Atom settings to receive funds. $19 fixed charge.

I use a domiciliary account for that, but it should work with your naira account as well.

However, note that GTB will convert to Naira for you using their own rate, which isn't the same as you would get in the black market, if you had a dorm account.

We should all do better. Even if you want to criticise, do it with grace and respect.

That guy has done so much for the Nigerian domaining community and should be respected.

P.S. I didn't take Iyke's class directly, so this isn't me defending him for allegiance sake. I only read the thread from start to finish back in 2018.
BusinessRe: What To Do To Make Money Online? by Nathansmith:

At first, I thought he is degrading $100 sales has been nothing. Later on, I realized the message is not about $100 sales.

I think the guy is trying to say…..Bro Lyke should think bigger, his not thinking big enough. If that is what it is. I don’t really see anything wrong telling a friend, Brother to think bigger (Although this might be very hard to do, as people easily take things the wrong way).

And he could have passed his message without the use of any derogatory words. It is disrespectful!!!
Which data points did you rely on to infer that Iyke isn't "thinking bigger?"

His sales report alone? If that's the case, then that's not a very intelligent analogy.

As far back as 2020, I sold a name to some guys doing automated manufacturing (now a major player) that I never reported anywhere till date.

If I and a few others aren't reporting those for whatever reasons, why would you assume that someone like Iyke isn't doing better, and only reporting what he feels comfortable doing?

I had to log in because of your comment.

SMH.

I don’t know sha but this is why I cut a lot of people off. Even the domain WhatsApp group created by Awesomeduru and co.

The pride that comes into a lot of you once it seems like you are doing better than the person that taught you is why I regret contributing to the original thread back in 2012, which birthed this one because Iyke took it upon himself to continue from where the old one stopped

I have never said this publicly but that experience killed something in me and made me stop sharing information freely.

Na Iyke get time still Dey come here come share information na why you get audacity type this kind thing.

If not for this thread, many people would have move on those that benefited from it wouldn’t have

Some kind information no suppose touch many of una hand walahi.
He's clearly a faceless troll, and a teen as well.

Make we no too reason the rubbish he wrote, and I believe Iyke himself will laugh it over.

A sale, whether big or small, must be celebrated, and even the old heads in this industry celebrate them.

And yes, accounts like his are why this platform died a natural death. Nobody will blame you or anyone else for staying away.

WANTED! WANTED!! WANTED!!!

Josiah Adinoyi Oricha

Nickname: Richy

Runaway with my $94.50.

The Story: He used to sell names to me in wholesale and I used to help people talk to my client anytime they have a sale after selling as wholesale which my client usually return the names if he haven't sell it and he also do retrieve the names back even if he has sell, I don't know how he used to did that but he has helped us retrieve like 2 to 3 names back in the past with 50% of the sales for him.

This guy messaged me that he sold this name Tranquilinteriors.com on DaaZ for $150 that I should help him talk to my client if he haven't sell the name. I contacted him and he said he has sold the name and I beg him to help us retrieve the name back which he eventually did and he returned the name back to me and I pushed to this guy so that he can receive his payment from DaaZ.

I told me this morning that he has collected the money from DaaZ that I should send my Grey tag so that he can send the money but since then, he has stopped replying my messages and he is reading it
How far? Has this been sorted out yet?

While doing a pricing experiment, I slashed the prices on my domains to $1988 over the weekend. Now one of the domains is on hold on Afternic. I forgot that this domain is also a premium domain on Atom at $3.5k. Unfortunately, I can't update the price on Afternic since it's on hold now, the only thing I could do was just update the NS to Afternic, to save on their commissions. Has anyone been in this situation before? How did it go? Kindly advice if there is anything I can do cuz I'm pretty sure this sale will complete on Afternic and Atom will definitely come for me. Thanks

EDIT: The domain has now sold on Afternic as expected but via LTO. Now, they are waiting for Auth Code to complete the transfer. Still waiting for update/advice on anyone who has been in this situation and line of action to take. Thanks
Congratulations on your sale, first and foremost.

Supply the auth code to Afternic, then inform Atom that the name sold on Afternic, and that you erroneously priced it lower during a portfolio-wide price reduction on Afternic. If this is your first time, nothing will happen.

As for the nameservers you changed after the name went on hold on Afternic, e no go work.

They already logged the active nameserver when the name went on hold, so anticipate the high commission.

Congratulations 🎉

@ aywhy93 what do you mean by Atom will come for you? Is it not your own domain? Simply unlist at Atom and other marketplaces you've listed it and supply the code to afternic.
Boss, he broke Atom's rule of pricing names on Afternic at a certain percentage higher than the listing price on Atom.

I wonder why it took long to sell, it's like they could do with alternative names for much lower.. This one probably bought because of the 6 months lto... I had kitchenandbathsupply that I let expire after some few attempted outbounds. They have picked it up and running a biz on it like this.
Kitchenandbathsupply was a solid one. Should have held regardless.

Lol! Now, you're getting my point, by re-echoing the same message I passed in the bolded below. Which is doing what works for you, qed.

You were referencing only sales that took years, 4 or more to happen as a general standard and a norm in domaining, I only pointed out to you and still reiterate that's not the general standard though, some sales happens within minutes, hours and days. Just know what works for you and stick to it.

I may not be able to respond again.
Cheers bro, No bad feeling.
We shouldn't always argue to win.

It's a fact that the vast majority of sold domains take years to happen. That's the 'norm' and 'general standard.'

Quick sales happen, and that's what we all hope and pray for, but that doesn't invalidate the common industry trend.
