For him, Isa Munlaila, who had just arrived Abuja after embarking on an angered trekking from Lagos, against President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 presidential ambition, his 34 days journey, which he began about 40 days ago, as he claimed worth sacrificing for, saying his action was to registered youth anger over current state of the nation.

Having spend 34 days on road Munkaila, who left Lagos over a month ago, arrived Abuja yesterday evening, during which he said he was fulfilled to have trekked the distance from Lagos to Abuja against the second term aspiration of Buhari.

Speaking about the journey at People Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Abuja, on Tuesday, where he was received, the young Nigerian hinted that he tekked minimum of 12 hours on daily basis and then slept anywhere night meets him, and continuing his journey to Abuja.

He had initially planned to reach Abuja between 18 and 20 days, but because of a sore leg, the journey lasted for 34 days.

“As I trekked, I saw people angry with this present government because of hardship and failure to deliver on what was promised. When people see me, they hailed me for trekking. Some people were asking me if I was doing it for some political parties and I said no, but for the youths of this country. We are for good governance,” he said.

While Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, second term move continue to face rejection from his political party, All Progressive Congress (APC), in the state, an entire association of chairmen of the party, comprising of both 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Area (LCDAs), have unanimously declared support for one of the state’s governorship aspirant, Babajide Sanwo-olu, whom they claimed possesses wealth of experience to lead Lagosians and positively influence Lagos economy.

They assured that there was no going back on their actions and that they were solidly behind Sanwo-olu’s ambition to govern the state, come 2019.



The Chairman, Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA), APC, Timothy Iyo, disclosed that the entire party chairmen had agreed to throw full supports behind the aspirant and that Sanwo-olu was their choice of candidate to take the state’s seat of power after Ambode.

Speaking on behalf of the entire chairmen during a meeting with Director General, BabaJide Olusola Sanwo-olu Campaign Organisation (BOSCO), Tayo Ayinde, and other leaders of the party yesterday, in Lagos, Iyo said that the council’s leaders were satisfied on the development, particularly that of move to change leadership of the state, assuring that the association of the chairmen would work to ensure Sanwo-olu emerge as APC flag bearer for governorship election in the state.

He indicated that job of party men were to ensure that voice of people they were representing count and that there right to choice of aspirant, were well protected.

The Director General of Babajide Sanwo-Olu Campaign Organization (BOSCO), Tayo Ayinde, has embarked on a political reconciliation movement by visiting All Progressive Congress (APC) National Legal Adviser of the party, Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN), with hope that his move would end feud among aggrieved members of the APC, ahead of its direct primaries in Lagos.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the resignation of Mrs Kemi Adeosun as Minister of Finance and acceptance of same by President Muhammadu Buhari is an action of honour, strength, character and integrity.

Yekini Nabena, the APC acting National Publicity Secretary, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Abuja.



Adeosun in her resignation letter to the president admitted that her National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) exemption certificate was not genuine and might affect the credibility of the administration, if she failed to quit office.

Reacting to the development, Nabena said that like all responsive and responsible governments concerned about the truth and due process, the APC-led Federal Government undertook diligent investigation of the allegation.

“Now that the report of the investigation is out, the right thing has been done, the honourable Minister has taken the path of honour and resigned,” he said.



Nabena congratulated Adeosun for her action and wished her success in her future endeavors, and joined the president in appreciating her immense contributions to the stability of the Nigerian economy in the past three and half years.

He added that in Buhari’s administration of integrity and transparency in the conduct of public affairs, no government officer with a modicum of questionable conduct or integrity should stay in office.

He noted that in past Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP)-led administrations, the country was held down by “corrupt and irresponsible public officers”.

He said such officers had often time refused to honour invitations of the National Assembly; closed down national airports against perceived political adversaries and bought luxurious bullet-proof vehicles with public funds at inflated prices.

After a week-long struggle of Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to seal his second term deal with All Progressive Congress (APC) Lagos power house failed, the current body language of the party has indicated that the governor may endorse former Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as his successor on Sunday.

Sanwo-Olu, who is billed to declare his intention to run for the governorship seat of Lagos for 2019 tomorrow at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, may take over seat of power from the incumbent governor of the state, should he emerge as win of primary election of the party, slated for September 19.

Three governors in the South South are being considered for the Niger Delta Governor of the Year Award 2017 by GbaramatuVoice Newspaper, a multi-media organisation in the region.

More than one of every 200 children aged under five at a camp in northeast Nigeria died in just two weeks in early August, according to Reuters calculations based on data from aid agency Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF) on Friday.

The northeast has been embroiled for almost a decade in a war with Islamist insurgents Boko Haram and, more recently, Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA).
Under a government program, hundreds of thousands of people living in the region are being moved for safety to fortified garrison towns, ringed by farms, recaptured from the militants.

In a camp in one of those towns – Bama – MSF teams found that 33 out of an estimated 6,000 children under five died in the two weeks from 2 Aug., the agency said.

“A lot of children are already in a critical state upon arrival, and poor assistance and access to healthcare further deteriorates their condition,” said Katja Lorenz, MSF’s representative in Abuja, in the statement.

Despite the presence of government and international aid agencies, “the health and nutrition situation has been allowed to deteriorate up to the current crisis point,” she said.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has warned that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is not to share money but to provide basic needs.

He explained that the government was aware of complaints of no money by many Nigerian, but that the administration preferred to invest in infrastructure that would have ripple effects on the economy than sharing money to people and political stooges like the previous administration did.



“Yes, people are complaining of no money and high cost of living, but I want to tell you that it would have been worse today but for the massive infrastructural development this government is investing on.’’

The administration, he said was committed to developing infrastructure that will uplift living standard of people.

The minister stated this in Tatabu village near Mokwa in Niger state while inspecting the reconstructed and rehabilitated Ilorin-Jebba- Mokwa road project.
