Politics › Skull Mining: Panic As Three Headless Bodies Found Floating In Ondo River by NdiLucifer(op): 10:10am On Apr 10, 2025 |
Anxiety has gripped residents of Odigbo, in Odigbo council area of Ondo State, as three headless bodies were discovered floating in a river.
Vanguard gathered that the decomposing bodies of the victims were discovered in a river along the Odigbo-Ore Old road.
The gruesome discovery caused tension and anxiety in the council area of the state.
An eyewitness who identified himself as Shileola, a youth leader in the community, suggested that the victims were brutally murdered and dumped in the river by suspected kidnappers.
Shileola, who expressed shock over the incident, said that the exact cause of their death remains unknown.
According to him, “I was shocked when I first heard about it over the phone.
“I rushed to the scene, hoping to identify the victims through their clothing or any other means, but all efforts proved abortive,” he said.
The eyewitness said that “the victims might have been killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped in the river, as no reports of missing persons have been recorded in the area so far.
He, however, urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious in the wake of the incident.
Contacted, the state police image maker, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirm the discovery of the headless bodies in the council area of the state.
Ayanlade said, “I can confirm to you that three bodies were recovered at the river in Odigbo. And immediately it was reported at the Ore Division.
“The DPO of that division moved a detective to the scene where the three bodies were recovered.
“However, the DPO, upon recovering the body, took the body to the morgue at General Hospital. He summoned the community leaders and all interest groups to ensure the identification of the body.
Ayanlade said that nobody has been able to identify any of the bodies. It is believed that those bodies were brought there and dumped at that site by some unknown men.
He added that “the area it happened bordered a lot of states, both Ogun and Edo States. So we believe the body is not from these states. However, it was dumped in that river. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/04/anxiety-grips-ondo-community-over-discovery-of-three-headless-bodies-in-river/ |

Politics › The Silent Betrayal Of Yoruba Leadership: Why Alaafin’s Coronation Deserved More by NdiLucifer(op): 5:57pm On Apr 08, 2025 |
There are times in history that offer a people the opportunity to reaffirm their identity, unite their ranks, and project strength to the world. Saturday, April 5, 2025, the day Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade was crowned the 46th Alaafin of Oyo was one such moment. A throne very much older than the Nigerian nation itself was revived in royal grandeur. But where splendor was expected, we saw an awful void. Where unity should have reigned, fragmentation ruled the day.
The coronation of the Alaafin, an wholly symbolic event in Yoruba cultural memory and expansive Nigerian heritage should have commanded national reverence. Instead, it was treated like a provincial footnote. The most important stool in Yoruba history, once the core of an empire drawing out from the Niger to the Atlantic, was compressed to a local ceremony with tiniest representation from key figures across Yoruba land and virtually no attention from the federal seat of power.
Yes, the coronation should have been more than a festival of culture. It was a shot to rally the Yoruba nation in the face of growing marginalization and political discrimination. Yet, what could have been a celebration of unity and pride became an indictment of the very people who should have championed it. To call the absence of the President, Bola Tinubu, himself a Yoruba son, at the coronation “disappointing” would be a crude understatement. Not only was the President absent, there was no formal statement from the Presidency to identify with the installation of one of the most important traditional monarchs in Nigeria. Vice President Kashim Shettima, was also nowhere to be found. How terrible ?
Only the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, an Oyo indigene and politically convenient fallback, was sent to represent the federal government. The symbolism was loud and clear: the federal might, currently helmed by a Yoruba man, had no interest in the cultural soul of his people?Again, South-West governors? Largely absent. Save for Osun State’s governor, who at least sent his deputy. Where were the others?
Isn’t it shocking? That at the historic installation of the new Alaafin, one of the most hallowed stools in Yoruba civilization, most Yoruba political elites couldn’t be bothered to attend? This same elite class shows up, in full agbada and entourage, for weddings, birthdays, and chieftaincy titles of obscure celebrities and political cronies. Yet, when it came time to stand for a symbol that represents the Nigerian federation, they were missing in action. What kind of leadership ignores the rebirth of its own cultural capital?
To worsen the tragedy, the Alaafin’s coronation shared its date with the Lisabi Festival in Abeokuta, another major Yoruba cultural celebration. How is it that two of the most significant events in Yoruba heritage collided on the same weekend? This is not merely a scheduling error. It is an acute commentary on how disjointed our institutions have become. That no effort was made to bring together or stagger these events shows a shocking lack of coordination among Yoruba cultural and political stakeholders. The inability of the Yoruba elite to unify under one cultural banner, even for a day, is telling, and dangerous.
More pathetic, rather than direct their anger at the Tinubu’s absence or the governors’ silence, a group of self-styled Yoruba cultural defenders, what some now call the “Ronu Coven” focused their energy on an irrelevant target: the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin. Their chief accusation? That he has Igbo heritage through his mother and once attended a community event involving Igbos in 2019. Let us be clear, Ogundoyin has been nothing but an exemplary son of Oyo. He speaks Yoruba fluently, conducts Assembly business properly, married a Yoruba woman, and has continuously served the interests of his people with pride. The attack on him is nothing short of that bigoted paranoia masquerading as cultural purity. How unserious ?
What’s worse is that these attacks distract from the real issue: the political and cultural abandonment of the Almighty Alaafin coronation by Yoruba leadership. By choosing to scapegoat a Oyo speaker who was present at the coronation, while the President and governors were not, these critics have only succeeded in undermining the very cultural unity they claim to cover. This is just a misplaced priority that Yoruba “ambassadors” must begin to differentiate performative outrage from meaningful advocacy. It is very easy to target someone like Ogundoyin, a relatively young and accessible politician, but much harder to hold the Tinubu or state governors accountable for their dereliction of cultural duty.
Let’s not forget, when Oba Rilwan Akiolu was crowned in Lagos in 2003, even Atiku Abubakar, then Vice President and a political rival, attended the event and chaired the occasion. That’s what leadership looks like. That’s what maturity in multicultural governance demands. Tinubu, a man who rose to power touting Yoruba solidarity, had the opportunity to demonstrate this same cultural leadership. He chose silence, and for this Yorubas must be disappointed.
The fallout of this coronation goes far beyond the ceremonial on the surface. What it unfurls is a Yoruba nation suffering from internal fragmentation and political aloofness. Our inability to unify around our most sacred traditions speaks volumes about the declining influence of our cultural institutions. If Yoruba leaders cannot rate their own symbols, how can we demand respect on the national stage? This silence, this cowardice, will echo beyond the walls of the Oyo palace. It sends a very dangerous signal to future generations: that our culture is secondary, that our unity is negotiable, and that our heritage is disposable.
This Alaafin coronation should have been a rallying point, a renaissance moment for Yoruba unity, identity, and pride that will probably happen once in a lifetime. Instead, it exposed the deep and dirty fissures in our political and cultural leadership. Rather than uplift the throne of Alaafin and project our heritage as a source of strength, our leaders chose indifference. Rather than hit our outrage at those who truly deserve it, absentee governors, an absent president, some of us chose to vilify one of our own because of his mother’s tribe.
That is not leadership. That is not unity. That is not the Omoluabi way. The time has come to make a choice: will we continue to sabotage ourselves from within, or will we finally hold our leaders accountable and restore dignity to the cultural institutions that define us?

Politics › Lagos GDP Has Grown To $259 Trillion Under Tinubu - Reno Omokri by NdiLucifer(op): 7:52pm On Apr 07, 2025 |
Please fact-check me. When President Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, Aliko Dangote had a net worth of $13.5 billion. After two years of Tinubu, Mr. Dangote's net worth is now more than double that at $27.8 billion.
The same or similar happened to Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr, Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Femi Otedola, who all saw their wealth grow by at least 25%.
Each of Nigeria's top five banks made record profits this last financial year.
For instance, Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GT Bank), Nigeria's largest bank by market share, made a profit of ₦1.1 trillion last financial year, up from ₦367.4 billion in 2023.
Meanwhile, Lagos State's GDP has grown from $100 trillion under Buhari to $259 trillion under Tinubu.
My question, therefore, to Peter Obi, who went on Arise TV to claim that President Tinubu has wrecked the economy, is this: If Tinubu has destroyed the economy, how come your bank, Fidelity Bank Plc, made a record-breaking pre-tax profit of ₦385.2 billion for 2024, representing a 210% increase compared to the ₦124.3 billion recorded in 2023?
You see, Peter, even your own bank is testifying on President Tinubu's behalf!

Politics › El-rufai: A Warning To The Yoruba-led Federal Government Over Emir Sanusi - Chuk by NdiLucifer(op): 10:05am On Apr 07, 2025 |
A Warning to the Yoruba-Led Federal Government - by: Chuks Emeka, April 6, 2025
As an Igbo Nigerian, watching the events unfold in Kano with the police summoning Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II over a harmless and respectful Eid homage is both infuriating and heartbreaking. This is not just a Northern affair-it is a national disgrace, one that reveals how far we’ve sunk in allowing personal vendettas to hijack state institutions.
It is now evident to anyone paying attention that this harassment of Sanusi is being orchestrated by Northern politicians who cannot stand the fact that he returned to the throne with dignity, public support, and historic legitimacy. These individuals are not concerned about peace or tradition-they are using the weight of the federal government to settle personal scores. And they are doing so with the silent approval-or perhaps even the encouragement-of a Yoruba-led presidency that appears content to let Northern chaos continue, so long as it serves its narrow political survival.
Let me say it plainly: what is happening to Emir Sanusi is not just an attack on a man-it is an attack on intellect, courage, and the idea that a traditional ruler can also be a voice of conscience. Sanusi speaks hard truths. He challenges corruption. He is a Northern elite who refuses to play along with the politics of stagnation. And for this, a section of the Northern power structure has turned against him with venom.
But here is where it becomes a national problem: the federal government is now the muscle for their revenge.
The Nigeria Police Force-an institution that should be impartial and focused on real security threats-is being weaponized to intimidate a respected monarch. This is not just an abuse of power; it is an abuse that is being carried out under a Yoruba presidency, one that many of us across the country supported out of hope for national healing, restructuring, and competence.
Instead, what we are witnessing is a presidency that looks away as its office is used to deepen Northern divisions, humiliate progressive voices, and prop up those who have kept the region-and by extension, the country-in chains.
As an Igbo observer, I have no ethnic stake in who sits on the Kano throne. But I have a stake in justice. And I have a stake in national cohesion. And right now, it must be said: this presidency is not only complicit in the destruction of Northern tradition and reform-it is laying the foundation for long-term distrust between the North and the South-West.
How can any honest Northerner with vision or values support another Yoruba presidency after this? How can the North believe that a Yoruba-led federal government will stand for fairness, if it allows itself to be a tool in internal Hausa-Fulani factional disputes?
Let me remind our Yoruba brothers and sisters: when power is used to destroy your allies in other regions, it may win you short-term praise from those who benefit. But the price is long-term alienation. And if those now benefiting from Sanusi’s humiliation think they are strengthening themselves, they are mistaken. They are destroying what remains of the North’s moral credibility-and doing it in full view of the rest of the country.
We must not pretend this is neutral governance. It is partisan interference in traditional leadership. It is a betrayal of federal neutrality. And it is being carried out by a government that has made no real progress on the issues that matter to Nigerians-security, economy, justice-but finds the energy to go after a monarch whose only crime is his integrity.
This moment calls for all Nigerians-Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, and others-to stand on the side of reason. The issue here is not Sanusi’s title. It is the future of how we relate to power, culture, and conscience in this country.
If this is what a Yoruba presidency does with federal authority, then many across the North-and indeed the rest of Nigeria - will begin to ask: was it ever really worth supporting? https://x.com/elrufai/status/1908958124871909821?s=19

Politics › Stop Asking Me To Join You Fight Harry - Inibehe Effiong Warns Yoruba Ronus by NdiLucifer(op): 9:16am On Apr 03, 2025 |
Leave me out of your bigotry fights.
I have been at the receiving end of bigoted and ethnically motivated attacks online for a long time.
Ethnic slurs have been used by bigots against me time and again.
Yet, the people who engage in these nasty attacks against me are urging me to join them to fight someone who has decided to reciprocate the bigotry madness that they have been indulging in for years.
If there is anyone that has evidence of me supporting anyone politically or otherwise simply because of tribal affinity, let the person step forward and present proof.
If you have evidence of me indulging in the bigotry that has taken over this platform, bring it forward for the public to see.
History shows that unlike those who make bigoted statements against me, I have never supported anyone for public office on the basis of ethnicity.
You can check my political views and leanings right from my days in the University to the Law School where I was politically involved.
I have never played ethnic or religious politics.
These despicable individuals have used slurs like “Ikot Ekpene Falana”, “Akwa Ibom Gani”, “Ipob lawyer” and so on to attack me. I have been told many times to “go back to Anambra”. These are just few examples of the bigoted comments that have been directed at me.
I have never supported or endorsed the views of Harry on this app that are aimed at diminishing other tribes.
I have however been following Harry on X long before he became who he is today. My memory is fresh, and I know that this is not who he has always been.
Can you imagine if I were to reciprocate the bigotry that has been directed at me on this App? Just think about it.
I was in transit to London last mont when I saw Harry’s birthday trending on X.
I simply wished him a happy birthday and described him as a troublesome person. But some mischievous people felt that by wishing him a happy birthday, I was endorsing his views.
Today, the animal specialist on this App whose proximity to wild animals has intoxicated him with animalistic propensities, decided to drag me afresh because of the bad action of Harry. He did this same thing last month when I wished Harry a happy birthday.
Note that I didn’t like or repost what Harry posted. I didn’t even comment on it. But he said that I will be proud of Harry.
I detest the hypocrisy, the disgusting and detestable hypocrisy of the people who are trying to drag me into their bigotry fights with Harry.
The same people that are baiting and attacking me with bigotry and ethnic slurs are pissed that I am following Harry’s X account.
I wasn’t born yesterday.
I have spent well over three decades on this planet. I won’t fall for the silly blackmail. Fight your bigotry fight and leave me out of it.
We know those who need bigotry in order to keep their corrupt masters in power. https://x.com/InibeheEffiong/status/1907513785981526022?s=19

I hope Mutanen Arewa, who were being manipulated by Nasir el-Rufai to see Peter Obi as the new saviour of the North because of 2027, have seen the way Peter Obi blamed Arewa for the killings of the sixteen Northerners killed in Uromi.
How can you expect someone who was caught red-handed on a leaked call plotting "religious war" against the Muslim Ummah to support justice for Muslim Northerners?
Meanwhile, has the Nasir el-Rufai himself said anything about the killings? No. He is unconcerned. He only needs your votes in 2027. If some Northerners are killed in Edo, he does not care as long as it will not affect his chances in 2027. Power is all he cares about, not you!

Politics › DSS Harass Activists Ahead Of April 7, 2025 Nationwide Protest by NdiLucifer(op): 10:46am On Mar 30, 2025 |
The Department of State Services (DSS) has begun targeting activists believed to be involved in organising a nationwide protest scheduled for April 7, 2025.
Reports indicate that the secret police have started issuing threats and intimidation tactics against individuals suspected to be leading the movement.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore revealed on Saturday that the DSS had already contacted and threatened a woman they claimed to be the Lagos Coordinator of the protest.
Sowore disclosed this through posts on his Facebook and X accounts, stating, “Official Department of State Services @OfficialDSSNG has begun harassing activists supposedly involved in organising the April 7th, 2025 nationwide protest. A female they claimed to be a "LAGOS Coordinator" was subjected to a threatening phone call this evening. It is imperative to note that harassment will not stop Nigerians' pursuit of liberation. #nationwide #RevolutionNow #30DaysRantChallenge #TinubuIsaTerriblePresident.”
Background of the Protest
The planned demonstration on April 7, 2025, stems from growing public discontent over economic hardships, governance issues, and perceived authoritarian policies under President Bola Tinubu's administration.
The protest, which has gained traction on social media under the hashtags #RevolutionNow and #30DaysRantChallenge, was initiated by a coalition of civil society groups and activists advocating for systemic political and economic reforms in Nigeria.
The movement began as a response to widespread dissatisfaction with government policies, including high inflation, unemployment, and alleged corruption. Organisers have called for mass participation, urging Nigerians to take to the streets to demand accountability and better governance.
The "30 Days Rant Challenge" began as an online campaign aimed at amplifying grievances against the government through daily social media posts. The initiative, which started in early March 2025, has encouraged citizens to share their frustrations and demand action from the authorities, further fueling momentum for the April 7 protest.
Concerns Over Repression
As the protest date approaches, concerns are mounting over the government's use of security agencies to suppress dissent. Activists fear that the DSS’s actions signal a broader crackdown on opposition voices, reminiscent of past government responses to mass protests. https://saharareporters.com/2025/03/30/nigerian-secret-police-dss-harass-activists-ahead-april-7-2025-nationwide-protest |

Politics › "We’re Exhausted, Our Fighting Spirit Is Gone" - Nigerian Soldiers by NdiLucifer(op): 6:34pm On Mar 27, 2025 |
EXCLUSIVE: ‘We’re Exhausted, Our Fighting Spirit Is Gone’: Nigerian Soldiers Protest Over 2 Years’ Deployment Without Rotation In North West Nigerian soldiers deployed in Operation Fansan Yamma, North West, have expressed frustration over the military’s failure to rotate them, citing a lack of funds.
The troops, who were initially assigned a six-month deployment, have now spent two years and six months on the frontlines without being allowed to return home, SaharaReporters can report.
Despite being overdue for redeployment, the soldiers say they are repeatedly told there are no funds to facilitate their return. Many of them have not seen their families in years, leading to exhaustion and demoralisation.
“About the ill-treatment, we are facing here in Operation Fansan Yamma North West. And the most important thing is that we are due for rotation from the operation but up till now, they keep telling us no funds to change us back and see our family,” one of the affected soldiers lamented.
“For two years and six months, we have been in this operation. Initially, we came to the operation to spend six months. On reaching the operation ground, the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, turned it into two years but now we are overdue without any hope of being rotated.”
Operation Fansan Yamma, North West comprises Katsina and Zamfara states.
The soldiers who spoke to SaharaReporters described their prolonged stay as unbearable, saying their families are desperate to reunite with them.
“That is what always makes us demoralised and exhausted for over two years in one place. Our families are eager to see us; they refuse to rotate us,”[/bp a soldier said.
They also accused the military of double standards, pointing out that troops sent to Maiduguri, Borno state after them had already been replaced.
[b]“Meanwhile there are soldiers who went to Maiduguri after we had gone to the operation for almost three months. They have changed them but they are not saying anything about our matter.”
The troops also admitted that their morale had collapsed after years without proper rest or support.
“Our fighting spirits have died, we are just fighting to survive,” a soldier stated.
They criticised the military’s failure to honour leave policies, noting that while they are entitled to a two-week pass every three months, they have waited for two years and six months without being granted.
“The pass is supposed to be after 90 days that's informed of leave in a civil organisation. After every three months, we are entitled to two weeks pass, that's 14 days. But we have spent two years and six months,” the soldier added.
The soldiers are now pleading with authorities to address their plight, urging them to provide the necessary funds to rotate them after two years and six months in the operation. https://saharareporters.com/2025/03/27/exclusive-were-exhausted-our-fighting-spirit-gone-nigerian-soldiers-protest-over-2-years |

Politics › I Supported Tinubu But This Hardship Is Becoming Unbearable – Cynthia Morgan by NdiLucifer(op): 1:08pm On Mar 26, 2025 |
Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan, now known as Madrina, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to implement urgent measures to address the excruciating hardship in the country.
She stated that she was among those who applauded President Tinubu when he removed the subsidy on petrol, but the current hardship resulting from the subsidy removal has become unbearable.
Speaking in a video message shared via her TikTok page recently, Madrina said, “Are you guys feeling what I am feeling? I’m not even going to lie, I’m feeling it o! And it’s quite unfortunate that we might not be able to do much other than plead with the government. Because spending over $8 billion on subsidy doesn’t make any sense.
“From my findings, the total annual revenue for Nigeria in 2023/2024 was around 20-something billion dollars. So imagine spending $7 billion on subsidized petroleum products. It doesn’t make any sense.
“I was one of the persons who applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the removal of the fuel subsidy because you know what it is. But currently, I don’t think we have what it takes to live totally off subsidy removal on petroleum products.
“We don’t have the structures or anything to be able to sustain that. And that is why there’s inflation. The price of petrol controls 90 percent of every other commodity in the market. Also, the exchange rate of the Naira to the dollar has increased because what we import is higher than what we export. Right now, the GDP per capita is $860.
“We are going to be begging [the government]. I don’t think we have the right to protest or insult anyone in government. The introduction of the subsidy on petrol started with former President [Olusegun] Obasanjo, which for me was lackadaisical because, as a president, you’re supposed to handle things head-on and not try to… I can’t remember the word right now.
“So, that’s what President Tinubu is trying to do. He is trying to approach it the way it is. Because the money that we spent on subsidized PMS is a lot—enough to do many things. If we are able to invest it in other areas of the country, we will be a better nation. I don’t think it’s a bad idea, but we are not ready. We can’t do it. 100 percent subsidy removal will not work. People are hungry. Crime rates are increasing.
“But please, let’s not rant. Let us do a begging challenge. Let’s beg the government to help us, that they shouldn’t be angry. Maybe we have been irresponsible. Let the government roll back at least 50 percent of the subsidy removal. That’s my stance.” https://dailypost.ng/2025/03/25/i-supported-tinubu-but-hardship-becoming-unbearable-cynthia-morgan/ |
Politics › Reps Move To Allow NBA Remove Corrupt Judges Through No-confidence Vote by NdiLucifer(op): 12:44pm On Mar 26, 2025 |
A bill seeking to empower the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to remove corrupt judges through a no-confidence vote, scaled second reading in the house of representatives on Tuesday.
Sponsored by Afam Ogene, a member of the Labour Party (LP) representing Ogbaru federal constituency of Anambra, the bill aims to alter sections 231, 238, 250, 256, and 271 of the 1999 constitution, which deal with the procedure for the removal of judges.
CURRENT LAW
Among other things, section 292 of the constitution states that “a judicial officer shall be removed from office in the case of chief justice of Nigeria, president of the court of appeal, chief judge of the federal high court, president of the national industrial court, chief judge of the high court of the federal capital territory (FCT), grand kadi of the Sharia court of appeal of the federal capital territory, and president of customary court of appeal of the federal capital territory, by the president acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the senate, praying that he be so removed for his inability to discharge the functions of his office or appointment (whether arising from infirmity of mind or of body) or for misconduct or contravention of the code of conduct.
“While the chief judge of a state, grand kadi of a Sharia court of appeal or president of a customary court of appeal of a state shall be removed from office by the governor acting on an address supported by a two-thirds majority of the house of assembly of the state.”
THE PROPOSED LAW
The proposed legislation intends to introduce new subsections to the aforementioned sections for the removal of corrupt justices and judges from their respective offices.
The bill seeks to confer powers on the NBA to receive petitions against any erring judicial officers, consider the defence of the petitioned officer, and if not satisfied, conduct a confidence vote.
If two-thirds of the members of the NBA in the annual general meeting or conference pass a vote of no confidence in the petitioned officer, then his/her continuation in office is immediately terminated.
“This implies that the judicial officer is presumed in the eyes of the law to have resigned from service,” the legislative brief reads.
Ogene said the essence of the bill is to provide an alternative constitutional mechanism for disciplining erring and corrupt judicial officers away from the “mundane role of the National Judicial Council (NJC), which is no longer potent in curbing the rot in our court and justice system”. https://www.thecable.ng/reps-move-to-allow-nba-remove-corrupt-judges-through-no-confidence-vote/ |

What Atiku and Peter Obi are looking for is how to collude and win elections without the Southwest. If they succeed in mastering how to win elections without the Southwest, then it’s finished for Yorubas in Nigeria, they will decimate them. And now that they are already winning elections in Lagos coupled with weak leadership that allows outsiders to fester in the region ahead of natives, then this might be inevitable.
When the people that are supposed to stand for you are already disempowered and brainwashed.. it will be easy to hijack power and use Federal might to completely cripple them and the region.

Politics › Toll Gates Will Reduce Inflation, Strengthen Naira – Rewane by NdiLucifer(op): 3:22pm On Mar 24, 2025 |
The Managing Director of Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Bismarck Rewane, said the concession of Nigeria’s major roads in deplorable condition would ultimately reduce inflation, increase productivity, and strengthen the nation’s wobbling currency, the Naira.
The economist stated this on Channels Television’s Business Morning show on Monday.
Rewane is a member of the Highway Development and Management Initiative (HDMI), an initiative of the Federal Government that aims to attract sustainable investment and funding for road infrastructure development and asset management along federal highway corridors through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
He said the initiative was the government’s way of getting out of the way so that the private sector can put money into it.
Rewane said kidnapping, which has become a disturbing occurrence around the nation’s highways, would be reduced.
He said, “Kidnapping is low, productivity increase, the cost of transportation which reflects in the prices of goods. So, you would now see the prices of goods begin to come down.
“Inflation is defined as the persistent increase in prices because of low productivity and an increase in money supply. So, we can take out the money supply by using the MPR (Monetary Policy Rate) and the central bank but the persistent cause of inflation in the country is a reduction in productivity.
“Why is productivity reduced? Because when goods are produced, they cannot get to the market and there are post-harvest losses.”
“So, you will now begin to see a difference between rural and urban inflation which is reflecting because of this cost of transportation because the roads are bad, post-harvest losses and because the price of petrol was high.
“So, we have all these three factors leading to a reduction in inflation and when inflation reduces, your exchange rate begins to strengthen. There is a strong correlation between inflation and exchange rate weakness – the higher your inflation rate, the higher the volatility and the weakness of your currency,” he said.
Rewane said under the arrangement, private sector operators are given concession agreements for 25 years. “He builds the road, maintained it for 25 years and he gives a percentage of his toll back to the Federal Government of Nigeria, in some cases, the states,” he said.
He said the maintenance costs of roads would go down to the benefit of the Federal Government and sub-nationals.
“When you concession the road to somebody that spends maybe N100bn or N200bn, and guards it with drone technology and central reservation and high barriers, only three or four outlets to get out of the way, it means that you cannot be kidnapped.
“When a road is well-built, well-maintained, you will enjoy greater efficiency and lower cost,” the economist said.
“The cost of transportation reduces sharply and this is coinciding with the reduction in the price of petrol,” he said, adding that goods would get to their destinations faster.
“The records are there, the evidence is clear that because I can get to my location faster, I would rather pay N1,000 or N500 to get there and come back and turn around.
“Right now, it takes three to four hours to get to Asaba from Benin but it is now going to come down to 45 minutes.” https://www.channelstv.com/2025/03/24/road-concession-toll-gates-will-reduce-inflation-strengthen-naira-rewane/

Politics › Stop Attacking Northerners - Reno Omokri Warns Yorubas by NdiLucifer(op): 1:30pm On Mar 24, 2025 |
If you are from the South, especially Southwest, and you encounter Northerners against President Tinubu, do not quarrel or argue with your brothers and sisters, and certainly do not use negative words to address your fellow citizens. Instead, utilise the depths of your Omoluabi ethos to inform them of the many laudable achievements of the Tinubu administration, especially in Arewa, of which the most significant is the restoration of peace to the Kwajajafa Axis, from Zuru in Kebbi State to Gembu in Taraba State, which has had the effect of making way for many Northerners to return to their villages and farms.
You may also want to highlight that under President Tinubu, we had the first Christmas and Ramadan in Nigeria's recorded history when food and fuel prices were simultaneously reduced, and neither commodity was scarce. This is even as inflation reduced from nearly 40% to 24.48% in February 2025.
Then, you may want to point out that the President has approved and established the Northwest Development Commission to promote the rapid growth of Nigeria's most populous geopolitical zone and a slew of new universities for the region.
But what you should NEVER do is engage in a war of words. It is against the Omoluabi ethos of humility and respect for others and yourself. And beyond that, it shows ingratitude.
President Tinubu got more votes from the North than from the South.
Whereas President Bola Tinubu got 2,279,407 votes from the Southwest and 799,957 from the South-South, plus a mere pittance of 127,370 from the Southeast, the President secured 2,652,235 votes from the Northwest (his best showing), 1,760,993 from the Northeast, and 1,185,458 votes from the North-Central.
Considering the above, you ought to be sensitive rather than combative. Leave that type of uncultured behaviour to those who do it best. Instead, project the virtues of tolerance and restraint.
I am one of the most insulted Nigerians on planet Earth, yet I thrive and live a most fulfilled life. The moral of the story is that insults do not take anything from you. Therefore, when you face insults, ignore them and promote and project what Nigeria has gained, is gaining, and stands to gain from the Tinubu administration.
A summary of which is as follows:
The Sokoto-Badagry Highway has reached Kebbi State and is progressing daily. The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is now approaching Ondo State. Fuel prices are down to an average of ₦815 per litre. Four hundred thousand students are accessing student loans. The Minimum Wage is now ₦70,000, and from next month, NYSC members will be paid ₦77,000.
Food prices are dropping slightly, while inflation reduced seismically from 34.80% to 24.48% in February 2025. Power generation is at an all-time high of 6,003MW, the highest in our history.
Federal allocations to states have doubled and, in some cases, tripled. Deaths from terrorism and insecurity are at their lowest level since 2014, even as our GDP grew by 3.8% in 2024. Nigeria recorded a 209.6% increase in its trade surplus to ₦18.86 trillion in 2024 from ₦6.09 trillion in 2023.
Finally, urgently your traducers to look at everything the President has touched. Look at his family. All his children are well behaved and thriving. Look at Lagos. Now a $259 billion economy, which is more than half of our GDP. Take the APC. The most cohesive and disciplined party in Nigeria, while other parties face various internal and external issues.
In Tinubu's hands, Nigeria will fulfil her potential.
These details are far more likely to win hearts for President Tinubu than a fire-for-fire approach.
Thank you, and God bless.

Politics › Emergency Rule: PDP Governors To Challenge Tinubu In Court by NdiLucifer(op): 10:18am On Mar 19, 2025 |
The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDPGF) has vowed to challenge the suspension of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and other elected officials of the state in court.
On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers, suspending the governor, his deputy and members of the State House of Assembly.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, the PDP governors asked the President to accept that he had made a mistake and reverse the decision.
The forum accused the President of bias, noting his failure to acknowledge the role played by his Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in fueling the political crisis in Rivers.
Part of the statement said, “We stand in solidarity with Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the good people of Rivers State at this very difficult and trying moment of the state’s political history. There is no other time that our philosophy of ‘TOUCH ONE TOUCH ALL’ is more apt than now.
“He who goes to the court of equity must go with clean hands. Mr. President , your silence on the active role played by your Minister of the FCT in the Rivers impasse is golden and enabling. He has become a law unto himself because he was playing out your script. Now we know. This is totally unstatemanly, biased, and divisive.
“We state categorically that this unwarranted but premeditated attack on Rivers State and the Peoples Democratic Party and other opposition parties is today, the greatest threat to democracy in our dear country.
“Nigeria and it is an ill wind that will blow no one any good. It is a dangerous course of action that will not only endanger our hard won democracy, but will exacerbate the crises in the nation, deepen mistrust, elevate security threats, destroy the economy, and our national cohesion and stability.”
The Governors also said ” The Forum completely aligns itself with the position of the NBA and promises to subject Section 305 (3) of the Constitution to judicial interpretation. This authoritarian shenanigan is unacceptable and cannot stand.
“Mr President is therefore called upon to listen to wise counsel and the voice of reason, as well as accept that he made grevious mistakes and acted in haste, and reverse this atrocious and retrograde decision before it is too late.” https://dailytrust.com/emergency-rule-pdp-governors-to-challenge-tinubu-in-court/

Politics › Next President Can Declare A State Of Emergency In Lagos Over NURTW Drama- Sodiq by NdiLucifer(op): 10:45pm On Mar 18, 2025 |
The sad thing about this type of precedent is that the next President can declare a State of Emergency in Lagos State over NURTW drama just to manipulate the political settings over there. Everyone will learn eventually. It is only a matter of time.

Politics › Obasanjo Also Declared States Of Emergency - Reno Omokri Hails Tinubu by NdiLucifer(op): 9:24pm On Mar 18, 2025 |
What Was Good For Plateau and Ekiti Is Also Good For Rivers
Under President Olusegun Obasanjo, States of Emergency were declared in Plateau and Ekiti states on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, and on Thursday, October 19, 2006. Every single Presidential candidate in the 2003 election was in government then, either as Governors or in other high positions. None of them opposed President Obasanjo then.
So, why are they complaining when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does the same thing in Rivers State?
When President Obasanjo declared States of Emergencies in Plateau and Ekiti, there were no bombing incidents. Meanwhile, in Rivers State, there have been two bomb blasts in less than twenty-four hours.
There is more than enough justification for a State of Emergency in Rivers, and Nigerians should support President Tinubu in maintaining law and order in the country.
What was sauce for the goos in Plateau and Ekiti States under Obasanjo should be good for the gander in Rivers State under President Tinubu.
