A 36-year-old science teacher from rural Kenya, who donates most of his salary to help poorer students, was crowned the best teacher in the world and awarded a $1 million prize, beating 10,000 nominations from 179 countries.

Peter Tabichi, a math and physics teacher at Pwani Village's Keriko high school, won the 2019 Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize and was awarded his prize at a ceremony in Dubai hosted by actor Hugh Jackman.

Tabichi provides 80% of his income to help the poorest students in the poorly-equipped and overcrowded school who otherwise could not afford uniforms and books.
More than 90% of his pupils are from poor families and almost a third are orphans or have only one parent. Drug abuse, teenage pregnancies, dropping out early from school, young marriages and suicide are common.

Students have to walk 7km along roads that can become impassable in the rainy season to reach the school and the area can be affected by drought and famine.

Despite only having one computer, a poor internet connection and a student-teacher ratio of 58:1, Tabichi started a “talent nurturing club” and expanded the school’s science club, helping pupils design research projects of such quality that many now qualify for national competitions.

His students have taken part in international science competitions and won an award from the Royal Society of Chemistry after harnessing local plant life to generate electricity.

A Facebook user posted this and it got me thinking. Should Babymama be encouraged or abortion?
The truth is that most people are sexually active and once you are,there are certain risks that pertains to it, babies and STD's.
So, since being a babymama is the natural trend in this country,should it be encouraged?

I read on a popular dating site about a man proposing to the girlfriend but the girlfriend turned it
down, saying she prefers being the man's babymama. Her reason is that he will take care of her and that their love will never dwindle.
Note, this man called on everyone to beg his girlfriend to accept his proposal as he does not want to have kids out of wedlock.

To many, the girl seem unreasonable and foolish. Some are right but lets look at it from the girls perspective, as a babymama, you get the full support from your babydaddy which he might not actually give to his immediate family and since distance makes the heart grow warmer,the love will keep being fresh till both decides to be cranky about it. You are free to do anything you want without another getting in your way and when you demand for anything,it's treated as priority by the babydaddy.
Need i say the many vacations and trips abroad,anywhere of your choice if you have a buoyant and 'remotable' babydaddy. And the car, mehn! sight for sore eyes.

These are some of the things women look at which makes them prefer being a babymama to 'wifey.'
And the most important reason, for most men, there's no need to cheat when you have a babymama willing to maintain her payroll with you.
She gives you what you want and so makes it useless to have another.

But looking at it on another and more sensible matter, you bring forth innocent kids to suffer for your mistakes. There's no way you will give them the attention that they need since you are not there everytime. The girls turns around to be needy and might have 'daddy issues' making every potential man a daddy figure and thereby falling into a bad life.
And most times, due to no and every fault of yours,the kids will always compete with the ones you had in marriage, be it academically, emotionally and physically.

What do you give yourself then? Tones of problem which might drive you to an early grave.

In another scenario, abortion is bad and a no-no, ask people who lives with the guilt everyday,they will tell you.

Kingsley Chigbo, 35, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl, said to be his wife’s younger sister,‎ at Ijoko Ota town of the state.
The incident was reported to the police at Sango Ota Divisional Headquarters by Peju Osoba, the immediate past Ogun State Coordinator of Child Protection Network, CPN.

Mrs. Osoba reported that one of her organisation’s staff in Ota, who went for an enlightenment talk
with students of Bannis College, Ijoko Ota, gave her the information.
After the enlightenment talk, the little girl called the said staff to a corner and confessed to her that her elder sister’s husband has been having sex with her under duress, with the threat that he would kill her if she ever told anybody.

The suspect was subsequently arrested.

Anukaenyi Bob-Manuel Ogochukwu, a 43-year-old computer instructor has been arrested at the Lagos airport, for importing heroin from Nairobi, Kenya.
Ogochukwu explained that he got involved in drug trafficking because nobody except drug barons offered to help him out of his financial predicament as his sick son is currently on admission in Nairobi on a life threatening ailment.

While under narcotic watch, he excreted 66 wraps of heroin. In his words, “I teach in a computer
school at Onitsha, Anambra State. This is my very first time of having anything to do with drugs.

I smuggled drugs to save my sick child. The doctor said that my child has a hole in the heart. I met many people for help but nobody was willing to help me except a drug baron.
My son is currently struggling for survival at the hospital in Nairobi. The baron who is from Tanzania promised to pay me $2,000 for my child’s medical bill. I am very worried about the condition of my son”.

Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah, Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, said that no excuse is tenable for crime. “No explanation is tenable for committing crime. Drug trafficking is a criminal offence and the suspect will be charged accordingly.

The suspect’s action only complicated his condition because he is here facing a criminal charge while the responsibility of taking care of his sick son now rest solely on the wife” Abdallah stated. Anukaenyi Bob-Manuel Ogochukwu who is married to a Kenyan lady hails from Anambra State.

According to a worried friend of the victim: "This guy @maca_veli is threatening to kill her. This happened this evening in Benin, Edo State, when my friend went to see the guy (her supposed boyfriend) she met another girl with him.

She started asking whatsup and before we knew it, the guy broke a bottle and was threatening her.
Next thing, he started beating her mercilessly infront of the girl he was cheating on her with.

He dragged the cotton rail and hit her. It took the grace of God and the intervention of his friends to pull her out and managed to take her home. My friend has been paranoid since then and she is scared that the guy migt come after her and carry out all his threats."

EFCC, today, secured the conviction and sentencing of an Internet fraudster, Akintunde Vincent Abiodun, 37, before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja.

Abiodun was arraigned on January 23, 2017. on an amended 12-count charge of stealing and forgery to the tune of N7, 806, 093. Abiodun’s long walk to jail began after he presented himself as Christopher Williams to his victim, Dona Bonni, whom he met on a dating site on the Internet.
The convict, as part of his tricks, had told Bonni that he inherited gemstones worth $18, 050,000 from his late father in the U.K. He also forged an American passport with which he convinced his victim of his purported nationality.

Consequently, the convict dishonestly received various sums of money, at different times, from his victim. Justice Ipaye sentenced the accused to six years imprisonment.

A boxer who was due to be deported by immigration officials has been found dead in a park in south London. Bhekitshe Moyo, 42, had been living in Britain for 15 years but was ordered to leave the country by the Home Office.
The former bank manager, who was described as a kind and intelligent man who would always put others’ needs before his own, was reported missing last Monday.

His distraught family, who live in Zimbabwe, grew alarmed after noticing Mr Moyo had posted an
unusual message onto his Facebook page ending with the words: “I have to sleep now. I love you all. Now be good to one another.”
Police began searching areas near to Mr Moyo’s home in Wallington, Sutton, and found his body near Mitcham Common. The skilled boxer is said to have competed in more than 50 professional matches and spent his spare time studying for a law degree, volunteering at local boxing clubs and teaching children the sport.

Family friend Thapelo Koboto, who is working to help return Mr Moyo’s body to Zimbabwe, told the Standard: “He came here on a sports visa. “After he thought he had been here for a long time, he tried to apply for an indefinite leave to remain.”
But she said “everything changed” and he was taken to Brook House immigration centre. He was released from the immigration centre in November but the case for his deportation continued.

“It [the deportation] came as a disappointment as he thought he was doing the things the right way,” Ms Koboto said.
