This Imo and Anambra bad belle has been on especially in our parent's generation. Am from Imo and growing up, my mother seriously warned my sisters and I against marrying any Anambra man. The belief is that Anambra men are arrogant and in most cases Imo wives are treated as second class citizens in their husband's house. To further buttress her point, she would ask us to tell her which of her sisters married to Anambra men have good rapport with her inlaws or are even at peace with their husbands. My advice to you is to get your siblings on your side. My siblings and I would argue and point out to her marriages between Imo people that were also going through such challenges. Am married today, not to an Imo person neither is any of my siblings. She just had to give up and let us make our choices. As far as I am concerned, a happy marriage has nothing to do with tribe or the state you come. Except if there are fundamental issues, then those concerns need to be considered but not Tribe or State !!! Chikena |
