Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizām -may Allāh preserve him- was asked the following question:

The questioner says: Is there any evidence prohibiting the use of Tasbīh beads, seeing as some people say it's permissible to use, in order to keep an accurate count of the number?

📝 Answer:

It should be said (in response): 'if there was any good in it, the Prophet ﷺ and his companions would have preceded us to it.'

And he ﷺ is the one who said:
((إنا أمة أمية لا نكتب ولا نحسب))
"We are an illiterate nation who can neither write nor count."

It has not been established from the Prophet ﷺ nor any of his companions that they ever used Tasbīh beads, small pebbles, or seeds to count with.

This has not been reported with any authentic chain of narration, and whatever comes in some of the reports regarding the use of small pebbles or seeds - is all inauthentic.

The Prophet ﷺ used to do tasbīh using his fingers, and he ﷺ said:
((خير الهدي هدي رسول الله ﷺ))
"The best of guidance is the guidance of Allah's Messenger ﷺ."

They asked Sharof (A Mumayihoon scholar in Ogbomoso, Oyo state) that can muslims pray upon a dead person whom charm was found hanging on his neck. Sharof replied that, had it been the person is not dead, we would have asked him if he believed the charm on his neck is the one protecting him or not (general exclamation and laughter). What type of useless response is this? How would you ask someone such?


What we are going to ask Sharof is that, are those hanging charms on their neck using it to beautify their body? He should be asking people around if they are using charms for protection or not after the Prophet has said in the Hadith of Abdullahi Ibn Masood that incantation is disbelieve.


For instance, the incantation they does in Yoruba land, is it the Prophet that taught them or did the Prophet understood Yoruba language? The Prophet called incantation and putting of charms on the neck or waist an act of disbelief (Sheikh read out the full Hadith).

The Prophet called something disbelief and you (Sharof) said we should be searching or investigating people's heart. We can't be doing that. People should stay away from these scholars and these types of verdict.

What's the difference between eating with 3 fingers and using hands for adkar?

Why is using something else apart from hands for adkar is Bidiah and eating with 3 fingers is not Bidiah?


Eating with 3 fingers is sunnah
Using hands for adkar is sunnah


Replacing 3 fingers with cutleries is Bidiah
Replacing the hands with tesuba or other counting methods is Bidiah too

Replacing the 3 fingers with cutleries is Bidiah... Because you have made your own law as regards the sunnah or how to eat and disown the prophet and sahabahs

If someone is eating with right hand 4 or 5 fingers...that's sinful because he only disobeyed he didn't replace the act of worship with something else entirely


The sunnah is..

Eat is right hand 3 fingers... Eating with left hand is sinful as eating with 4 fingers or 5 fingers right hand is.

NOW TO THE REASON WHY EATING WITH SPOON IS BIDIAH.


Sunnah simply means an act of worship MADE LAW BY ALLAH, PASSED DOWN BY ACTIONS OR WORDS BY PROPHET AND BY SAHABAHS.

Bidiah simply MEANS NULLIFICATION OF LAWS REGARDING SUNNAH MADE BY ALLAH BY REPLACING IT WITH YOURS AND DISCARDING THE PROPHET AS YOUR MESSENGER AND SEEING THE SAHABAHS AS IRRELEVANT. BIDIAH SIMPLY MEANS NULLIFICATION OF SAHADAH.

Not eating with 3 fingers is divided into 2..

One is sin.
One is shirk.

Do not eat with your left hand, for the Satan eats with his left hand.

Before any act of worship can be accepted, it must follow 2 paths

1. Must be done for Allah's sake
