Proposals to create a Hyperloop network that would carry passengers from Amsterdam to Paris in less than 90 minutes are under discussion in the Netherlands after a study that says the hi-tech link could be economically viable. Hyperloop is a proposed transport mode that involves traveling in a sleek, pod-like capsule that's propelled through a low-pressure steel tube at speeds of over 600 miles per hour. Supposedly more sustainable than aviation and speedier than today's top-speed trains, Hyperloop's advocates say it's the future of cross-country, and even cross-continental, travel. Earlier this month, Dutch start up Hardt Hyperloop announced the results of a study carried out in collaboration with the province of North Holland which examined the experimental travel idea. The report showed that a European-wide Hyperloop network would significantly shorten commuting times between European cities, blurring borders and offering "remarkable economic benefits." Better connecting the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area to other European hubs, the study suggested, would improve business travel and "strengthen the economic value of the province." The report says Hyperloop could ferry 200,000 passengers per hour, per direction. Travelers could reach Paris in 90 minutes -- less than half the time it currently takes by train, and roughly the same time as a direct flight, without the need for airport connections. Amsterdam to Brussels would take less than an hour via Hyperloop, the study suggests. This investigation marks the...... Source: Dj Kotech

Strip clubs and lobbyists are suing the federal government to try to get access to coronavirus stimulus dollars. In three separate lawsuits, they say they were ineligible for loans because of the types of business they run, alleging the stimulus law is infringing on their free speech and other constitutional rights. The owners of Little Darlings strip club in Flint, Michigan, and Silk Exotic Gentlemen's Clubs in Milwaukee and Middleton, Wisconsin, brought lawsuits over the past few days against the US Small Business Administration because the businesses applied for but cannot get loans under the $2 trillion financial relief bill passed by Congress in late March. The American Association of Political Consultants and the Denver-based political firm Ridder/Braden Inc. filed another suit in Washington, DC's federal court on Tuesday, also against the Small Business Administration. "Covid-19 is not just ravaging the health of Americans, it is also ravaging the Nation's economy," the political operatives wrote in their court papers. "The government does not have a legitimate interest during this global pandemic in preventing small businesses from obtaining much needed cash to cover payroll and health insurance for their employees just because these small businesses exercise fundamental constitutional rights." Many small businesses are eligible for up to $10 million each through the stimulus loan program. But in addition to sex-related venues and political advocates, a handful of niche types of businesses cannot access the loans. Other organizations barred from the program include some types of nonprofits, some types of private membership-based clubs and religion-promoting businesses. Yet those businesses say they're suffering. The strip clubs say they had to close in mid-March because of stay-at-home orders from their governors. They then applied for SBA loans but were denied or expect to be denied, the lawsuits said. Even if the businesses are eventually allowed access to the loan program, the owners worry stimulus funds may be gone by then. The political consultants hadn't applied for loan money because they are ineligible, their lawsuit said. If the strip clubs don't get access to the federal funding, "They may lack the staff and/or funds to reopen following the COVID-19 pandemic," the Silk lawsuit in Wisconsin said. Source: Dj Kotech

The US has become the first country in the world to record more than 2,000 coronavirus deaths in a single day. Figures from Johns Hopkins University show 2,108 people died in the past 24 hours while there are now more than half a million confirmed infections. The US could soon surpass Italy as the country with the most coronavirus deaths worldwide. But experts on the White House Covid-19 task force say the outbreak is starting to level off across the US. Dr Deborah Birx said there were good signs the outbreak was stabilising, but cautioned: "As encouraging as they are, we have not reached the peak." President Donald Trump also said he expects the US to see a lower death toll than the initial predictions of 100,000 fatalities. The US now has at least 18,693 deaths and 500,399 confirmed cases, according to Johns Hopkins. About half of the deaths were recorded in the New York area. Italy has recorded 18,849 deaths while globally more than 100,000 people have died with the virus. Researchers had predicted the US death toll would hit its peak on Friday and then gradually start to decline, falling to around 970 people a day by 1 May - the day members of the Trump administration have floated as a possible date to start reopening the economy. Bemigho Reno Omokri who is an author and lawyer said the fire the Accountant General’s office was not caused accidentally. He tweeted saying The fire in the Accountant General’s office started a day after PDP called for an audit into the so called subsidy regime that Buhari government claims to have spent over ₦2 trillion on? How convenient! Who is fooling who? He then added: There is a #CoronaVirus lockdown in Abuja and the Accountant General’s office burnt down? This is an office that didn’t burn when it was a beehive of activities, only to burn when it became a ghost town? What are the odds? An accident? Very fishy! Well, we all know there's no fire without a smoke, so whosoever is fooling who should continue, but they can never bring Nigeria to the ground Source: Dj Kotech

The Life of both old and young people involved. At a point in life all humans were kids before growing old, this painting represents both old and young people, as the covid 19 pandemic rock the earth, it has caused more pains to both the young people losing their parents, friends and family to this deadly virus. In the painting we can see in the eyes of the lady pain and bravery; which tend to say that even though in pain we still need to be courageous to fight this virus. The mask which shows the protection and mini prevention of the virus when someone comes in contact with a carrier of the virus. I made use of brown which is an earth color. Well, I can see those rough strokes, does that have any significant to the painting? Yes those rough strokes talks about the pandemic, currently everyone is running for safety and in the process of running from one place to another they have spread the virus to more places creating panic. So why using a lady to represent your illustration? A lady is the mother, a lady gave birth to everyone living in the earth and the world is refer to as She or Her. If I may ask, what medium did you use, I mean the materials and also the size of the work? Medium: Acrylic and charcoal on paper Size: 20cm x 14cm Why do you decided to use Acrylic? Because during my research I found out there are others, e.g, oil color, water color etc I love using acrylics, I also use oil color but my favorite is acrylics.

As the United States and much of the rest of the world locks down over the novel coronavirus pandemic, China appears to be cautiously opening back up. Travel restrictions in place across most of the country are gradually being relaxed, and next week people will be allowed to leave Wuhan -- where the virus was first detected late last year -- for the first time in more than two months. Officials in the city have warned people not to go out too much, however, amid fears of a renewed wave of cases. But as China appears to be turning a page on the virus, new questions are being raised about how much the numbers being reported can be trusted, and whether the worst of the outbreak has truly passed. That was a suggestion Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying angrily refuted Thursday, saying the... A motorist, identified as Joseph Pessu, was shot dead in Warri, Delta State, on Thursday, by a soldier for allegedly flouting the state government’s sit-at-home order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Eyewitnesses said the middle-aged motorist, who was cruising in a black Toyota Camry car without number plate, failed to stop at a military checkpoint on the NPA Road when the soldiers ordered him to halt. Our correspondents gathered that rather than stop, Pessu allegedly accelerated the car in a bid to beat the security personnel. But a soldier in the security team, who....
