Two Nigerians, Chuukwu James and Gageche Gold Patience, were arrested in Kenya on Friday for being in possession of heroin worth Sh4.5m (about N13.7m)

They two were arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Police Unit in Mombasa while trying packing the drugs in readiness for a trip to Brussels, Belgium.

The Unit found 1.5kg of heroin on the duo. Police say the duo had concealed the narcotics in a suitcase and were travelling to Brussels.

The DailyTimes of Kenya reports that sources said the drugs are suspected to have originated from Tanzania.

Father Emmanuel Chibuzor Obimma popularly known as Ebube Muonso has lauded the Igbo people of Nigeria for their industrious and resourceful nature.

The cleric who was speaking on a crusade ground in one of the states in the South East noted that despite the economic hardship the Igbos were subjugated to immediately after the war, they soared through and today became more greater than they were.

This unidentified man was caught stealing yam tubers at Onitsha main market, Anambra State.

Rather than beating him naked he was made to use one of the tubers as pendant.

Coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Florence Omagbemi has lost her 15-year-old son, Samson.

Samson and one of his classmates reportedly got drowned in a swimming pool at a hotel in Effurun, Delta State, where they had gone to for an after exams party.

Media officer for the Nigeria U-23 team, Timi Ebikagboro, announced the boys’ death via a Facebook post.

The Facebook post explained how a teacher took JSS 3 students of Challenge International School, Kolokolo Udu Road, Warri, to Golden Tulip along PTI junction Effurun for “an after exam party.”

He wrote, “Am just in a sad mood, how on earth will a teacher take JSS students to a hotel in Effurun for an after exam party and in the end 2 of the innocent students got killed and thrown into the hotel pool, one of two dead kid is the “son” of our own Florence Omagbemi, Super Falcons head coach.

World Boxing Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua is to visit Nigeria on a three-day tour in August.

The tour is being organized by the Director of Peel Aston Global, Khomeini Bukhari, who explained that the boxing champion would attend a charity boxing match, Inspire Nigeria 2017.

The British-Nigerian boxer will visit the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja, and the governors of Lagos and Ogun states.

He will also visit some royal fathers, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Khomeini Bukhari said.

“This event is part of his (Joshua’s) social corporate responsibility and duty to give back to Nigeria, where he is the son of the soil. Part of the tour will be to visit the Presidency, some state governors, as well as pay his respect to royal fathers,” he said.

An anonymous fan of Warren Buffett agreed to pay $2,679,001 (N867,996,324) at an online charity auction to have lunch with the billionaire chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

As of March 2017, 86-year-old Buffett is the second wealthiest person in the United States, and the fourth wealthiest in the world, with a total net worth of $$76.2bn according to Forbes magazine. He is donating virtually all of his fortune to charity.

The winning bid came in the closing seconds of the five-day eBay auction, which drew 41 bids before ending on Friday night. .

It was lower than the record $3,456,789 bid in similar auctions in 2012 and 2016. Money will go to Glide, a San Francisco charity that provides food, health care and other services to the homeless, the impoverished, and people struggling with substance abuse.

The successful bidder and up to 7 friends will dine with Buffett at the Smith & Wollensky steak house in Manhattan. Buffett has held 18 annual auctions for Glide, raising about $26.3m. He became involved with Glide after his first wife, Susan, became a volunteer, prior to her death in 2004.

Niger Delta militants have also reacted to the quit notice issued by Arewa youth forum. Niger delta millitant have given all northerners October 1 ultimatum to leave Niger Delta. The militants also said the FG should hand over all oil blocs controlled by northerners to the people of Niger Delta.

In a joint statement released on Friday, the coalition of Niger Delta militants also said they will declare the independence of the region on October 1. “A coalition of the Niger Delta militants met today in Port Harcourt to review the recent call by the Arewa Youths groups that the Ndigbo should vacate all the Northern states within three months,” it read.

“We see the declaration by Arewa Youths as a declaration which the northern elders, leaders, political elite, security heads from the North and governors were fully aware of . We demand 100% control of our resources.

We demand that the FG should hand over all oil blocs owned by northerners to Niger Delta indigenes. All the companies operating in such oil blocs/wells should vacate within three months.

The FG should immediately relocate NNPC and all the offices that have to do with oil/gas sector back to Niger Delta states and immediately replace the Group Managing Director with an indigene of Niger Delta.

All northern indigenes working in NNPC and any other board that has anything to do with oil/gas should be sacked with immediate effect. We demand an independent and sovereign Republic of Niger Delta.

Our money has been used to fund Boko Haram, a problem created by the Northerners in order to use it as conduit pipe to siphon the resources of Niger Delta. On October 1, 2017 we shall declare our independence come rain, come shine.

We shall take our destiny in our hands and free ourselves from the slavery of the North as they are tired of one Nigeria. From October 1, 2017, we don’t want to see any northerner close to (the) Niger Delta; any attempt to penetrate shall meet fierce resistance. This time, we are not going to play defence, but attack.”
