The Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa, Ahmed Ibeto, has resigned. He has also renounced his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, and had crossed over to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to Punch, Ibeto arrived Nigeria from Pretoria on Sunday and on Monday morning, he handed over his letter of resignation at the Ministry of External Affairs.

Ibeto was a deputy governor of Niger State on the platform of PDP.

Checks revealed on Tuesday that Ibeto have left Minna for his home town of Ibeto in Magama Local Government Area of the state.

According to sources, the former deputy governor was received by over 1,000 supporters on his way to Ibeto.

Newsmen gathered that while in Ibeto, the ex-ambassador would first resign his membership of the APC and assume PDP membership.

A source close to the former deputy governor told Punch correspondent that he would join governorship race immediately he registered with PDP.

PoliticsKwara APC Reject Dissolution, Says Nwc’s Declaration Illegal by NewsFlashng(op): 12:04pm On Jul 31, 2018
The All Progressives Congress in Kwara State has rejected the dissolution of party executive council at the ward, local government and state levels by the Adams Oshiomole – led National Working Committee (NWC), describing the declaration as unlawful, null and void.

In a statement issued by Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, Publicity Secretary of the Kwara APC (the one dissolved by the NWC), he said that there was no ground for the dissolution, insisting that the NWC erred.

The National Working Committee (NEC) of the APC on Monday, dissolved the Kwara State Executive of the party. The party’s National Chairman, Mr Adams Oshiomhole and its National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni announced this after a meeting of the NWC in Abuja.

However, the State Executive Council has rejected the declaration, stressing that it was out unwarranted and illegal.

“We confirm that there is no case of lacuna in the party leadership in Kwara State and there was no ground for the purported dissolution. Thus, the NWC erred in law. Furthermore, the purported dissolution is null and void.

“We recall that for many weeks, party members worked assiduously and painstakingly to elect party leadership at the ward, local government and state levels in Kwara State.

“The party structure was certified as duly elected by the National Working Committee of APC. The duly elected party structure in Kwara State cannot be overthrown or dissolved by an unlawful declaration from Abuja.

“Considering the role played by Comrade Adams Oshiomole, he has lost the respect of the leadership and members of APC in the 16 local government areas and 193 wards of Kwara State.

“He has destroyed his human rights credentials. It is crystal clear the emerging dictator is always willing to trample on the rights of other party members whenever his personal interest is involved.

“While the party will exercise legal means to protect the constitutional mandates of the party leadership at the ward, local government and state levels, we wish to reaffirm that the Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani – led State Executive Committee (SEC) remains the only authentic and lawful leadership of APC in Kwara State.

“Despite the distraction from Abuja, the Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani – led State Executive Committee (SEC), the party leadership in the 16 local government and 193 wards of Kwara State shall continue to discharge constitutional functions,” he said.

He therefore called on all members of the APC in Kwara State to remain calm as the executive committee will devise legal measures to guarantee the protection of their rights. NAN

The leadership of the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide ( YCYW) on Sunday passed a vote of confidence on Sen. Ademola Adeleke of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Sept. 22, gubernatorial election in Osun.

The group said that after consideration of all aspirants for the polls, Adeleke, the candidate of PDP remained the best choice.

“Without any iota of doubt and in due recognition of Sen. Adeleke’s sterling performance in a few months he emerged as the Senator for Osun West Senatorial district, he has extended his hands of care and passionate love for his people and beyond his immediate constituency to the entire state.

“He has proven to be intellectually upright and capable to serve his people as a true born Omoluabi and God sent liberator of his people from monumental slavery.

“Not forgetting the fact that his late elder brother, Sen. Isiaka Adeleke, popularly respected and regarded as ‘Serubawon’ whom was gruesomely murdered had once succeeded on this path of honour before.

“Moreso, we believe he (Adeleke) can deliver on that same vision of his late brother, coupled with his own double hedged sword of passion and ardent care for his people.

“This, precipitates our unanimous resolution for his endorsement as the best man for the job; a man of noble character and objective candour to serve his people,” the group said in a statement.

The statement was jointly signed by Aremo Oladotun Hassan, Mr Segun Nelson and Mr Sunday Murele, the President, South-West Coordinator and the Osun Chairman of the YCYW respectively.

“This and many more reasons affirmed him as the most outstanding man for the job,” they added.

The group called for an end of campaign of calumny against Adeleke, saying he possessed every requirement to lead.

The NCYW, which expressed optimism that Adeleke would not disappoint the people in socio-economic and infrastructure development, urged the security agencies and the electoral umpire to ensure a credible poll.

The NCYW is one of the leading and largest umbrella body of all Yoruba Youths and students domiciled within the south-west region, nationally and in the Diaspora.

A web technologist, Mr Kaosiso Anaekwe, on Wednesday advised business owners to restrategise by designing ads that would stimulate customers and leveraging on smartphone boom to attract more patronage.

Anaekwe gave the advice at the Google Business Group (GBG) Lagos Meetup held in Lagos.

The meetup had the theme: “Understanding the Consumer Journey”.

Anaekwe, also the Leader of GBG, Lagos, said that many smartphone users would visit stores for product purchase if advertisements made the desired impact on them.

“The customer journey in business is far from linear today; marketers that survive do multiplicity of things and theses are done leveraging on smartphones.

“Statistics from Google show that 87 per cent of smartphone users search things when they have a micro-moment.

“Customers are now more empowered, and the force that is driving them is the advent or boom of smartphone.

“With this in mind, business owners should strategise on ways to position their businesses online, to meet the needed audience,” he said.

According to him, ads that fit into customers’ pictures will resonate with them.

Anaekwe said that a business owner should understand its target customers and leverage on a Google Theory, the Zero Moment Of Truth (ZMOT).

According to the technologist, ZMOT is the moment a business owner stimulates a customer and he (customer) will seek the product.

He said that winning customers to purchase products would entail finding a sweet spot where customers’ goals and the business owners’ goals align.

The GMG leader advised business owners to identify all communication touch points in the customer journey.
