Late Segun, a Lagosian who hailed from Ejinrin Local Government, Lagos State was said to have come to Odoshiwola to rejoice celebrate Sallah with Tunji’s family unknowingly to him or anyone that that would be his last day on this planet.

Mrs Balogun (Tunji’s mother) said “There had been dispute between Tunji and Wasiu as this happened because of a lady, Baraka.”

It was reported to us that there was a day when One Iya Ruka and Iya Bili went to Mrs. Balogun (Tunji’s mother) to tell her to warn her son as there has been rumour that Tunji is having affairs with Baraka who was considered a wife to Wasiu.

Mrs. Balogun Stated that “when these two women came to me, I called Segun (the deceased) that if Tunji was with any lady? But he said no, that it was him, Tunji and a friend. I also called my junior sibling living in Epe to confirm if any lady was with them, he also said nothing such happened. That was when I notified those women that my son has nothing doing with Baraka.”

‘Baraka left her matrimonial home to her mother’s place to drop her 2-month old baby; she ran away and was nowhere to be found. This made Wasiu to be more suspicious about Tunji that his wife was with him, but reverse be the case.’ Mrs. Balogun Stated.

Preceding that “after a week was Aro who happens to be a relative to Wasiu came to meet me at home with his gang to warn my son to deviate from following Baraka if not, he is going to be killed. But I strived to calm them down and told them that nothing of such is happening! But I have informed my father in Panti Police Station about the threatening of the gang to kill Tunji.”

An eyewitness Lukman Olopade (related to Mrs. Balogun) said “I left home to Alhaji Okesanya (Aka baba 70) place to get my share of ‘ileya’ ram from him, and Segun followed me to buy a soft drink in one of the shops in front of the same Alhaji’s compound, then Alhaji told me to hold on while Segun went to the shop to get the drink. In the process Segun ran back to me with speed with blood all over his body. Segun had been stabbed by Wasiu in different parts of his body with a stainless knife. I tried all my effort to rescue him but one Jamiu Okesanya and Lukman Alabe, members of Muwon Vigilante Group in Eredo LCDA (Local Security Agency in Eredo LCDA of Lagos State) stopped me from saving his life. They punched me severally in the face not until Segun gave up the ghost.”

Not quite long in the process of Wasiu fleeing from the scene of the incidence was Aro who started his automobile to rescue him away said Mrs Balogun. However, contrary to what a woman name withheld who owns a shop in the town expressed and pointing to the location where Aro and Wasiu met.

The woman said “Aro was in his vehicle when Wasiu was walking on his foot then Wasiu waved Aro down in other to convey him away from the scene. Then Aro was addressing Wasiu that “do you know if the person who you stabbed is dead? While asking Wasiu the question he never came down to carry Wasiu. He drove away, but Wasiu worked down to the B/Stop to board a cab.”

Policemen were present at the scene as it was gathered that Aro has invited them. The corpse was later conveyed by the policemen and Aro was later detained in the police custody for further investigation. There is still missing link in the story

Crime / Shrien Dewani Denies Plot To Murder Wife Anni by newsnow: 3:17pm On Oct 06, 2014
or a man to have paid the bride price of a woman and spent so much to bankroll the wedding ceremony and during the honeymoon, the wife got shot right in the presence of his beloved husband by armed gang. How can this be interpreted and judged depends on the application of human logic. But logic may not reveal intention in some cases.

British businessman Shrien Dewani has formally pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife on their honeymoon in South Africa in 2010. Mr Dewani, from Bristol, is accused of hiring a hitman to kill his wife Anni.

The couple were held at gunpoint while being driven in a taxi through Gugulethu township near Cape Town.

Mr Dewani, 34, who was thrown from the taxi, has told Western Cape Crown Court his "whole world came crashing down" when his wife was found shot dead.

Mr Dewani faces five charges including murder and lying about the circumstances of Anni's death.

Prosecutors argue that Mr Dewani conspired with Cape Town residents Zola Tongo, Mziwamadoda Qwabe and Xolile Mngeni to kill his wife.

Forensic evidence presented to the court heard the fatal shot was delivered "at close range", with a suggestion that Mrs Dewani might have been grabbing on to "someone or something" at the time she died.

Through defence lawyer Francois Van Zyl, Mr Dewani said he has "had sexual interaction with both males and females".

"I consider myself to be bisexual," the court was told.

"My sexual interactions with males were mostly physical experiences or email chats with people I met online or in clubs, including prostitutes," Mr Dewani's witness statement said.

Mr Dewani said he had abnormally low levels of hormones, rendering his chances of having children slim. He said he discussed this with Anni, whom he began dating in summer 2009.

The court also heard of a volatile relationship between the newlyweds, including an "angry disagreement" in May 2010.

A letter sent later from Mr Dewani said "I really do love you. Want to be with you forever."

But Anni wanted to call off the wedding claiming Mr Dewani was "too controlling".

"We really frustrated each other, we were in love," he said through his lawyer.

The pair married later in 2010 and travelled to South Africa for their honeymoon. According to Mr Dewani, he bought flexible tickets for the trip.

It was when the couple arrived in Cape Town that Mr Dewani met taxi driver Zola Tonga, who has already admitted his part in Anni's murder.

Tonga told Mr Dewani he was an "executive tour guide", and was asked to hire a helicopter as a surprise for Anni.

The driver, according to Mr Dewani, also helped to change £5,000 in order to get "a good market rate".

On the night of Anni's death Mr Dewani was carrying "a large amount of cash", and Tongo had texted Mr Dewani to ask if he still had money for the helicopter ride.

Later, when they were in the taxi, Tongo pulled off the motorway and the car was stopped.

"The next thing I recall is somebody next to me, who told me to lie down. The person had a gun in his hand. He was waving the gun in the air," Mr Dewani's statement said.

"We were both terrified and immediately complied with his demands. I was lying half on top of Anni. Another person was behind the steering wheel. I do not know where Tongo was at that stage."

Then, one of the gang asked Mr Dewani to get out of the car. When he refused, the court heard, a gun was held at his head before he got out of the car.

He then tried to find help before being taken back to his hotel by police.

Mr Dewani said he later met Tongo who he felt "sorry" for and had planned to give him some money.

Sports / Wenger Plays Down Mourinho's Spat by newsnow: 3:07pm On Oct 06, 2014
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, attempted to play down his touchline confrontation with Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho during his side's 2-0 Premier League defeat on Sunday.

The two men clashed in front of the dug-outs after Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez went down under a challenge from Gary Cahill mid-way through the first half, with Wenger pushing Mourinho in the chest.

The two men were separated by fourth official Jonathan Moss – Mourinho telling Wenger to "back off" – but although the Frenchman could now face disciplinary action from the Football Association, he made light of the incident.

Asked if he regretted pushing Mourinho, Wenger told his post-match press conference: "No. What is to regret after that?

"I wanted to go from A to B and somebody confronted me in between without any sign of welcome. B was Sanchez, to see how badly he was injured."

Wenger has a history of bad blood with Mourinho, who has never been beaten by the Arsenal manager in 12 encounters and has branded him a "specialist in failure".

"Honestly I don't listen to what he says," Wenger said.

"Look, I trust you that you (the media) will teach me all the moral lessons over the next three weeks. And I can accept that."

Wenger said that his push had been "a little one", adding: "I can try to push you. You can see when I really try to push."

The two men did not shake hands at the final whistle, with Mourinho heading down the tunnel first, but the Chelsea manager said he had "no problem" with Wenger despite their altercation.

"Forget that. A football pitch is a football pitch, so no problem," he said.

"It becomes heated because this is a big game, big clubs, big rivals, (an) important match for both teams. These conditions make a game of emotions.

"There are two technical areas: one for me, one for him. He was coming to my technical area and he was not coming for the right reasons.

"He was not coming to give some tactical instructions or something. He was coming to press the referee to give a red card (to Cahill) and I didn't like that."

The provocative Mourinho is no stranger to controversy, while Wenger has been involved in similar incidents with Alan Pardew, who was managing West Ham United at the time, and former Tottenham Hotspur coach Martin Jol.

Politics / 2015: Youths Participation In Election Critical To Good Governance by newsnow: 6:09pm On Oct 03, 2014
Youths Participation in election has been described as critical to achieving good governance needed for change in this present day Nigeria.

National youth leader, Socialist party of Nigeria, Hassan Taiwo Soweto, said this while delivering a speech In Lagos – an Independence Day gathering of young leaders and entrepreneurs hosted by Activists at the International Press Centre (IPC), Ogba Lagos.
"I believe that youth can only participate in governance and elections as change agents. It is very clear that change is needed to save this country and its people.

Soweto said for change to be possible, "youths have a very important role to play. As the young generation, it is our future that these capitalist vampires in power are mortgaging through their rabid greed and corruption."

According to him, for the youth to play the role of change agents, there are factors they need to consider in carrying out this change.

“We need to understand that change will not come simply by a generational shift in leadership or by putting a 100 youth in the National Assembly for instance. This is because it is not the age of our politicians that has made them to rule so badly, rather it is their belief in pro-capitalist anti-poor policies as the only way to run society. The youth will only be able to play a meaningful role in the task of changing Nigeria if they embrace a democratic socialist ideology that seeks to ensure that Nigeria’s wealth is utilized for the needs of all instead of the greed of a few."

"To make change, we must organize. All youth who deem it necessary to take part in the process of liberating Nigeria needs to join an ideological and campaigning organization in order to begin to work with others of like minds towards the collective goal," Soweto noted.
Speaking at the event, the creative director OSC College of fashion, Mrs. Olushola Balogun, a member of the activists, said for Nigeria youth to make change in the country they need to empower themselves, thereby been able to stand firm to face the struggles ahead.

She explained that youth should get involve in entrepreneurship, adding that the situation of the country has got to a state where self investment is the answer to unemployment.Read more at newsmagazines..com
