FamilyThe Best Way Of Parenting A Child In Nigeria by newspent(op): 2:35pm On Nov 11, 2016
The Best Way Of Parenting A Child In Nigeria. Getting your kid to open up to you can be daunting in Nigeria. You might get a one word or two words response such as “okay”, “fine”, “yes”, “don’t know” and sometimes you might be greeted by a loud silence. All these depend on the kind of relationship you have with them. Build and strengthen your relationship with your kids. Make yourself available build trust and make it daily routine to connect with them. You can take your kids out.

Children Nigeria tends to open up in casual settings. Be honest with them. Don’t tell them you were perfect when you were their age. Such talk can put them off. Don’t compare them with other children in your neighborhood or that you know elsewhere when trying to correct their wrongs. read more.....www.newspent.com

EducationFriends, Enemies And Business by newspent(op): 4:44pm On Jul 25, 2016
Friends, Enemies And Business If it is true that we do not have permanent friends, then it also follows that we do not have permanent enemies. So there is no quarrel or feud or misunderstanding that should run so high that it defies reason and thus cannot be amicably settled, especially when it stands as a threat to a legitimate business profit .

What we do have I believe, is an articulation of interest, when my needs meets your needs, when your yam meets my yam we have the coming together of wants and we put aside our differences, even if momentarily and work to resolve our differences. Business does not recognise quarrels on like Melanic Trump and Michelle Obama.

It is not only a matter of stupid pride but a sign of not being economically suave if someone lets sentiments and old grudges come between economic opportunities. I have known people who have said ’ ‘ Don’t buy from this woman here. Trek 30 kilometres and buy from the other woman, this woman and I are not on speaking terms’. That is just foolish and smacks of immaturity.

I am always surprised at the lengths some supposed ‘grown ups’ would go to show that there has been a hurt or something. I once had a neighbour who spent almost a hundred thousand naira trying to get light from the nest street just because he and his neighbour had a tiff. That height of pettiness, I cannot just deal. The opportunities lost because of pride cannot be calculated.

Another instance I do not understand is the concept of inherited enemies and all. That is; because Mrs B and my mother’s and my mother had an altercation last week or my sister broke up with her boyfriend last week so they automatically become my enemies too. It is as serious as that, I know parents that have told their children ‘ you see we are quarrelling with Mama Nneka, I don’t want to see you playing with Nneka again’ Parents that encourage this type of attitude are really wrong.

They just inculcate in their children a nous of pettiness and the holding on to hurts even at instances when it does not make sense. Drawing children into a cycle they know nothing about is not just right. It is not a sign of loyalty to have your children fighting your battles, or avenging your friends by being enemies with another.
PoliticsTinubu, Others Get Appointed To Head Juicy Committes by newspent(op): 2:37pm On Jul 22, 2016
Tinubu, Others Get Appointed To Head Juicy Committes The senate president made some reshuffling of the heads of various committees in the senate on Thursday, July 21, 2016.

However, there has been some reservations concerning the appointments as largely of the ‘juicy’ positions were given to people who were outspoken critics of the Senate president, Bukola Saraki. There have been speculations that the engagements could be serving as a means to shut them up.

For example, Mr. Saraki’s most outspoken critic, Kabiru Mrafa, was appointed chairman of the Petroleum (downstream) Committee. He was in the past chairman of the committee on National Population.

Also, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, another key person in the ant-Saraki Unity Forum was made the chairperson of the Committee on Environment. Formerly, she was the head of the committee on women Affairs.http://www.newspent.com/tinubu-others-get-appointed-head-juicy-committes/
