Most Nigerian mechanics are not technically sound enough to fix V6 engines. No matter how slight the problem is, a majority of roadside mechanics don't understand it. So rather than master it, they prefer to avoid it by telling the people whose cars they service that the V6 engine is bad. My in-law had a Nissan Maxima with a V6 engine and when the car had an accident, even the bloody morons at Alliance Motors, after spending more than N900,000, could not fix the engine. Change brainbox sir, buy new engine sir, platinum tipped spark plugs sir, just drive it around for a couple of weeks sir. We drove the car at about 20 km/h to Benin City, brought out the Maintenance Manual, Laptop, and Google, and became our own mechanics. In 5 days, we fixed the car. I posted about it on Nairaland last year. Since then the car has been sold to another inlaw (keeping it in the family so someone else does not have to suffer what we suffered at the hands of mechanics). Now, another issue that makes this rumour about V6 engines so bad is that even those who know how good a V6 engine is, they use that urban legend as a negotiation tactic to drive down the price of sellers' cars once they hear it's a V6. I have a Camry 2001 for sale currently and it's a V6, yet I have no intention of selling it any cheaper than the I4. In fact, I'm hoping to leave the price more expensive so that by the end of the year if it remains unsold, I'll have no just but to keep it for myself. So conclusion, don't let anybody sell you a 4 cylinder vehicle in preference to a V6 or even more expensive because that is what Oyibo people call an IRONY. |
Oh! And my flatmate bought a BMW X5 through inspired_m about 4 months ago. Though I never mentioned it to inspired that I was the one who sent him. I really am not into making friends on Nairaland, but I do suggest links to Nairalanders' cars when people want to buy. As you can imagine, buying and selling online in the case of Nigeria is not based on trust and assurances at all. Nigerian sellers and buyers online regard one another as 419, so the way we deal is by exchange on the spot. Though a majority of us are not, we deal as if we all are. They bring their squad, we bring our squad, everybody feigns a smile, we swap packages and head our different ways. If you've seen a Mafia flick lately, it's no different from a major drug deal. No trust even when the guy counts out the entire N3,500,000 right in our eyes. Until our we're safely back to base with the money. Anyway, the truth is that, it may not be that bad, but the secret to staying safe, is avoiding any strange additions, conditions, irregularities, requests, or suggestions. Once it crops up, we walk away. |
Well, I last sold a 1995 Nissan Primera on Nairaland to a user "woleshi". We still keep in touch to be sure my promises are true. |
okay, just fyi, I seek a Naija used. Price on the low low. Auto, Fabric seats, 2003/2004 EX. |
Can you drive a car to Jos comfortably? Lemme know what that costs. I'm already in contact with a driver at my Flatmates office, but if you give a good offer, I'd like to be your first customer, and I'll confirm you to Nairaland as the guy for the drive. nexbestthing@yahoo.com 08135048278. |

So when you decide you want to sell, mail pictures, location and the real price to nexbestthing@yahoo.com a buyer is coming in from PH on Tuesday. And when I sell this, I dunno what to tell him. |
Right now, I realise it is better to deal with the minions that carry out the wishes of the Devil, than to deal with the Devil directly. Since it is their greed for stolen money that prompted their betrayal of Nigeria, the punishment should be taking away their original earnings they work hard for. Let's see how many people's salary IBB will pay. |
