Hello, Again we would like to thank you for all the interest and support you have shown for the electoral process in Nigeria. Your pictures, videos and comments uploaded on http://ngpollingstations.appspot.com have gone a long way in providing transperancy into the conduct of the elections in Nigeria to the extent that some of them have been featured on Google's special YouTube Channel on the Nigerian elections (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=BA369F23714B6C13) As the nation again goes out to vote tomorrow to elect its president, we are pleased to inform you that we have added a feature that will enable you enter results from your polling units as you get them. The collated results as entered by you will be displayed on our site starting from 4:00pm tomorrow. Last week your videos, pictures and comments pulled visitors from over 20 countries world wide. Again we would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the burden of ensuring a transparent election falls on all of us. As we go out to vote tomorrow and going forward , endeavor to go out with your camera phones, be observant, take pictures when you can and if possible record videos. You can upload these pictures and videos as well as your comments to http://ngpollingstations.appspot.com to show the world the elections as it unfolds in Nigeria. Since last weekend inspite of the postponed elections, the site has been the focus of Nigerians and Non Nigerians world wide as people from more than 19 countries worldwide logged in to view the content that was uploaded to the site before the elections were postponed. All uploaded pictures and videos will be made available to the world via Youtube and Picasa. Once again we enjoin you to contribute to a transparent elections in Nigeria. Hello , Sorry for the late reply. We will be needing all sorts of help, from technical help to constructive criticisms on the design. The site was built in python and runs on Google App Engine. The source code will soon be released on Google Code as open source |

Well, i guess they are doing the best they can at this point. We can also augument their efforts by being the eye on the ground. Some ICT initaitives are there to help us. Examples are the mobile application from EiE that enables us to send sms messages to a hotline. Another is the web site : http://ngpollingstations.appspot.com, that allows you to locate the polling station and make comments about your observations and even upload pictures of the events. we must make this election work! |
