Understanding the season as a snail Farmer helps you to run a profitable venture. smiley

The dry season is fast approaching and it's expedient we prepare ahead of this scorching, heat-smiling season.
Here are some hacks to improve productivity. smiley

1. BUILD A SHED

During the dry season, the intensity of the heat triples because, the sunrise early and it sets late; making the environment unbearable for the snails to thrive which leads to an increase in mortality rate.

Building a shed above your snail pen reduces heat conduction by 50%. meaning, you've just saved half of your snails stockings from dying from HEAT!

Even without a weather forecasting instrument, the raining ⛈️season is now playing on a low key while the hot️, sunny, dry season is beginning to smile at us.
Really, the dry season is one of the most tasking period to care for snails; as it is characterised with low egg production, loss of appetite and of course; increase in mortality rate due to heat.

Agriculture / Why Your Snails Are Not Growing - Part 1 by NGsnails: 1:43pm On Aug 22, 2018
Everyone keeps wondering why snails are very slow in their growth rate, but the truth is, snails grow in a steady pattern. smiley
Howbeit, their growth rate is influenced by so many factors. wink
Let's look at those factors briefly
1⃣ EARLY ISOLATION
Let's start from their "craddle" stage When snails just got hatched from their shells, they "eat-up" their egg shells first and remain deep in the soil for 4-5days.

Based on personal experience, snailets that are isolated faster from their egg shells suffers stunted growth; when compared with snails that patiently ate-up their encompassing egg shells

To be more factual smiley mortality is a natural phenomenon in livestock production and snails are not left out of the "Air Strike" Of course, snails die too! embarassed Here are some factors that may trigger their mortality on your snail farm.

3. FEED CONTAMINATION
When serving your snails fruits, leaves or vegetables; it must be rinsed thoroughly; especially if you don't know the source of the fruits because alot of fruits in the market have been sprayed with different chemicals ranging from herbicides to pesticides while some farmers go the extra mile of INDUCING THEIR FRUITS to ripe

When snails eat contaminated feed, overtime, they begin to react to the feed and they start DYING
