This is what happens when you have leaders who have no idea about governance and this is rooted in the fact that majority of Nigerians do not know how governance works either

Most people know even government know they should do something about food crisis and in fact they have been doing things but most have been wrong approach, wrong methods and to a lesser extent corruption

Majority of the problem listed by the farmers can be solved by forming cooperatives and good credit facility from government

In the past government just give loans to "farmers " Lmao this won't work because u have left a vacuum... Someone has to distribute this loans, there is no criteria just be a farmer... This is not how loans or credit facilities are given

Let me give u an example

If am president today, I would provide a minimum of 2 trillion naira agro funds this money would be kept at CBN

To get a loan ranging from 50 million to 500 million you need to meet the following criteria

1) form a cooperative with 20 to 200 farmers

2) the cooperative must have a minimum of 500 hectares owned or minimum of 10 years lease agreement

3) 5 members of the cooperative must be farmers with minimum of 10 years experience cultivating the crop

4) all 500 hectares must be for one single crop... If u want multiple crop each must be allocated 500 hectares... Except for fixa crops planted and harvested before planting main crops

5) cooperative must get ready to nominate 5 members to join police volunteers force, trained and given guns to protect the farms

6) certain crops only must be allowed to access this loans

Once you meet the criteria you meet your bank that you operate with, they verify it, then approach CBN to get the loan at 2% intrest rate and give out the loan at not more than 7% interest rate... For 5 years but banks get 3 years intrest rate at zero, and give farmers 2 years of no interest

This method is immune to government interference and mostly likely going to meet the real farmers since it's banks won't want to give loans to the wrong people

If you do not offtake the produced from the farmers it will still land inside the market expensive.
