Nwuche Hosts Former Councilors. Commends Tinubu For Restoring Peace In Rivers State.Urges support for the Sole Administrator Ebas. Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon Prince Chibudom has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for restoring peace, law and order in Rivers state through the timely proclamation of a state of emergency and the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas as Sole Administrator. Speaking when he received members of the Former Councilors and Supervisors Forum Ahoada East LGA(Wikematic counselors forum)chapter at his Port Harcourt residence.Hon Nwuche commended them for remaining steadfast during the period of the political crises in the state in which their efforts and contributions in making Siminalayi Fubara the governor of Rivers was betrayed wherein rather than reaping the dividends of the contributions, they were instead pushed aside and victimized for their stand for the truth while those who never worked for the emergence of the suspended governor became beneficiaries. Nwuche who berated the ungrateful character of Fubara towards his benefactor His Excellency Chief Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who single handedly made him governor against all odds, reminded the former councilors of the need to always show gratitude for according to him, …”a river that forgets it’s source will soon dry up" ” noting that even the Holy Bible condemns ingratitude ". He cautioned the promoters of ethnicity in Rivers state politics which is heightening the political tension, especially those from outside Rivers State, emphasizing that Siminalayi Fubara was voted by all the tribes in Rivers state such as the Ikwerre, Ogoni, Ekpeye, Etche, kalabari etc as no ethnic group in Rivers state can solely make itself a governor. He wasn't voted as an Ijaw Governor, but as A Rivers Governor, for all Rivers people and not for any particular tribe. He urged meddlesome interlopers from other states to focus on their states, and those in parliament to focus on representing the people of their constituency.I feel very disappointed when I see some members of NASS from neighboring states pontificating on the Rivers crisis as if it was why their constituents sent them to the National Assembly, and I urge the National Assembly to sanction such members and their constituents to recall them for lack of understanding of their mandate. He advised those continuously sponsoring protests in the state aimed at causing a breach of peace to desist and realize that there is a Supreme Court Judgement that has resolved all the political issues in Rivers State, and so no amount of such protests can change the position of the law on the political issues in Rivers state. He therefore called on all citizens of Rivers State to give peace a chance and support the Sole Administrator in his determination to restore permanent peace in the state and drive development within the period of the state of emergency. The former presiding officer at the National Assembly also thanked them for remaining on the side of truth despite intimidation and harassment noting that by the Supreme Court judgement, they have been vindicated and will reap the dividends of their steadfastness while urging those who are still on the other the side to retract their steps and join hands to move the state forward. Earlier in his speech, the leader of the delegation Hon Adamu Moses told Nwuche that they were in his house to thank him for standing behind the former governor of Rivers state and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory His Excellency Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in the support for President Tinubu administration and restoration of law and order in Rivers state. According to Hon Adamu, but for the timely intervention of the president by declaring state of Emergency, the state was already heading for full scale crises that could have led to loss of lives and wide scale destruction of National oil and gas gas assets with the commencement of bombing of pipelines following series of threats by those who claim to be in solidarity with the suspended governor Siminalayi Fubara. He extols the leadership qualities of Nyesom Wike who according to him “is a detribalized leader who spread developmental projects across all ethnic groups and LGAs in Rivers when he was governor, climaxing in the making of an Ijaw man as governor against stiff opposition from even some notable Ijaw personalities who at that time discriminated the governor as not being “real Ijaw” and therefore wondered why same persons are now the ones working so hard to bring the state down by preaching ethnicity. He pledged continues support of the group for the programs of the Sole Administrator in the state as well as Nyesom Wike and the success of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration and reelection come 2027. Also Speaking, coordinator of the Wikematic Former Councilors Forum in Rivers State Hon Dr Samuel Amos thanked Nwuche for being the true symbol of the Ekpeye man known for integrity and gratefulness by standing with Nyesom Wike who did tremendously well for Ekpeye when he was governor but rather than show him appreciation and gratitude, some selfish Ekpeye indigenes joined forces with those fighting to bring down Nyesom Wike many of whom he has touched and transformed their lives. |
NGO Accuses MSC Shipping S.A. of Subverting Nigerian Judiciary... Claims Shipping Giant Is Using London Court to Stop Nigerian Firms from Suing the Global Shipping Company.. A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Citizens Whistleblowers Coalition (CWC) has accused global shipping giant, Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC), of subverting Nigerian Judiciary and undermining Nigeria's soveriengty though an injuctive order issued by a court in London stopping litigations in Nigeria against the shipping giant, Mediterranean Company S.A. (MSC) for services rendered by the company within the country. The group clarified that the MSC was basically asserting in London that they could not be sued in Nigerian court for infractions arising from shipping services rendered to Nigerians in Nigeria. According to the NGO, "the action filed in London with Suit No: CL-2024-000700, MSC was alleging that there was an exclusive jurisdiction clause in their terms of engagement which gave the High Court in London the exclusive jurisdiction over shipping services rendered to Nigerians and Nigerian companies in Nigeria". The NGO said the exclusive jurisdiction clause had given the MSC the right to take Nigerians or Nigerian companies anywhere in the world to enforce a claim against them but that Nigerians or Nigerian companies dissatisfied with MSC’ shipping services could only take MSC to the High Court in London. A copy of the exclusive injunction dated December 29, 2024 and issued by Hon. Mrs. Justice Dias of the High Court of Justice, Business and Property Courts of England and Wales; Commercial Court (KBD) said “until the return date or further order, the defendants shall not commence, bring, continue or prosecute any claims, actions or proceedings relating to the disputes against the Claimants (or against “Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A.”) in any court or tribunal, including without limitation any court or tribunal in Nigeria, except in the Courts of England and Wales. The order also provided that the defendant shall not “oppose any application made by the claimants to stay the Nigerian proceedings or to adjourn any hearing or procedural deadline in the Nigerian Proceedings”. The court also ordered that the defendants shall not “commence, bring, continue or prosecute any claims, actions or proceedings that seek to restrain or require termination of or impose sanctions upon on otherwise interfere with the first claimant’s pursuit of its claims before this court in relation to the disputes”. But the CWC in a press statement signed by its Head, Research and Monitoring, Nafiu Ibrahim, said the anti-suit injunction stopped Nigerian companies from litigating admiralty matter against MSC in Nigeria. “The idea and insistence that Nigerians and Nigerian companies can only sue MSC in London for services rendered in Nigeria is a cause for concern. It is a spite on Nigeria’s sovereignty and a calculated attempt to undermine Nigerian laws and civil justice system”, the NGO said. The CWC explained that the Nigerian law is clear on the admiralty jurisdiction of the Federal High Court in admiralty matters connected with Nigeria. It said: “Section 20 of the Nigeria Admiralty Jurisdiction Act provides that parties cannot take away the jurisdiction of the Nigeria court to entertain an admiralty matter where the place of delivery is in Nigeria or any of the parties reside in Nigeria. Quoting Section 20 of the Admiralty Jurisdiction Act, the NGO said: “Any agreement by any person or party to any cause, matter or action which seeks to oust the jurisdiction of the Court shall be null and void, if it relates to any admiralty matter falling under this Act and if— (a) the place of performance, execution, delivery, act or default is or takes place in Nigeria; or (b) any of the parties resides or has resided in Nigeria ……” The CWC said the provision sought to protect Nigerians when dealing with shipping giants like MSC that would want to undermine the civil justice system in Nigeria. It said: ” In this regard, the law preserves the jurisdiction of Nigeria courts in admiralty matters where the place of delivery is in Nigeria or where any of the parties reside in Nigeria. It is only common sense for Nigerian court to exercise jurisdiction over shipping services rendered in Nigeria. “It is not clear why MSC is asserting that the High Court in London should deal with a case based on an alleged exclusive jurisdiction clause which if exist has been rendered null and void by Nigeria law. The group alleged that, “MSC’s shipping practices are often depicted by some as being oppressive and unfair to Nigerians especially as it relates to demurrage and detention charges. The insistence that aggrieved Nigerians must go to London to make known their grievances adds to MSC’s oppressive and unfair conducts. MSC has significant business operations in Nigeria". “One of its subsidiaries in Nigeria is Mediterranean Shipping Company Nigeria Ltd which is also a party in the anti-suit matter in London where MSC is making the case that they cannot be sued in Nigerian court for wrongs committed in Nigeria and against Nigerians. MSC’s argument seeks to undermine Nigeria as a country while profiting from Nigeria. Indeed, MSC’s action invites the scrutiny of the Nigerian Presidency, the National Assembly and the Nigeria courts. “MSC often prides itself as the largest Container line worldwide, with over 200,000 employees and revenues in excess of €86 billion. However, a company no matter its size should have regard for the laws of the land where it generates revenue. *MSC’s total disregard and disdain for Nigerian law and its court system is appalling. This calls for a full-blown investigation into the activities and affairs of MSC in Nigeria including MSC’s compliance with its tax obligations. A company that is not willing to subject itself to Nigerian court system will not be willing to pay tax for profits derived from Nigeria”.

Extortion and Unfair Shipping Practices, Court Orders Arrest of MSC Vessels in Nigeria. A Federal High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, has ordered the arrest of MSC TASMANIA, a container vessel belonging to MSC Shipping, for breach of contract, extortion and unfair trade practices, in a suit brought by a Nigerian company, INTERGLOBAL. Available court documents reveal that INTERGLOBAL suffered serious reputational damage, which tarnished it's stellar image, due to long delays, which the equipment it ordered from China suffered in various West African ports, before arriving very late. To save it's reputation as a leading construction company, it had to hire equipment, at very exhorbitant cost, to ensure the delivery of various projects on time. According to the court documents, MSC refused to disclose cost of demurrage on its website, as well as other vague and opaque charges it levied, causing the company to suffer huge charges. Court sources disclosed that MSC extorted over 49 million (Forty Nine Million Naira) from INTERGLOBAL through unsavory practices like seizing and detaining unrelated shipments of it's clients, a practice which contravenes the FCCPC Act. With an annual turnover of over 80 billion Euros, MSC uses it's size to intimidate and extort Nigerian Companies, as well as defying regulators. The fate of INTERGLOBAL is not an isolated case. It is one in a pattern of serial abuses of the Nigerian and international Maritime laws. Our investigations reveal that several Nigerian Companies and importers, have continued to accused MSC Shipping of arbitrary, inconsistent and opaque charges, illegal detention of shipments, extortion, and unfair practices. Other allegations include, Delay in delivery of the shipments, Illegal detention and blockage of the shipment, , Unfair shipping practices and Infractions of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018. Investigations revealed that sometime In May 28, 2021, Importers and clearing agents, under the auspices of Nigerian Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders and Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, threatened to stop shipping consignments into Nigeria through MSC Shipping Line over allegations of container deposit scams allegedly being perpetuated by officials of the company in Nigeria. The Importers and clearing agents disclosed that MSC Nigeria Limited, collects container deposits from freight forwarders and licensed customs agents acting on behalf of the importers, but they fail to refund the money after the container has been returned. Other complaints against MSC Shipping include Excessive Shipping Charges. Our investigations revealed that on December 10, 2024, Three Nigerians, Ms. Liman Okpeku, Francis Francis and Maureen Akinbobola on behalf of themselves and other agents, petitioned MSC to the ICPC for excessive charges, alleging that MSC extort TELEX CHARGES from importers and agents. This they contend is unlawful and ought not to be collected at both Port of loading and point of discharge Alleging rip off through demurrage, Importers and agents accuse MSC of perfecting the Act of Rip offs, thorough Demurrage caused by delibrate delays by MSC to deliver goods, for which they have been paid. Other rip offs include additional terminal and shipping bills. Investigations also disclosed that a Nigerian company, ADAVURUKY LOGISTICS LINKS paid MSC, several thousands as demurrage over delay caused by MSC and a Terminal Operator. Also JOKBEMI NIGERIA LIMITED, alleged that it paid MSC several thousands for delays caused by MSC. Maritime industry stakeholders noted that these sharp and unwholesome practices have been going on for years to the detriment of importers in particular and Nigerians at large. They disclosed that MSC's unfair practices has a way of skyrocketing the prices of goods and services in Nigeria. A legal practitioner who pleaded anonymity disclosed that MSC's actions offend several provisions of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 which applies to services rendered by any company in Nigeria. For instance, MSC's opaque handling of D & D charges and DRV rates is contrary to the provisions of section 115 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 ('FCCPA') which requires the disclosure of prices of any goods and services. The D & D charges and DRV rates are equally contrary to section 127 of the FCCPA which prohibits manifestly unfair, unreasonable and unfair prices. Further, the detention of the shipment for the purpose of enforcing payment in an unrelated transaction is wrong and contrary to section 124 of the FCCPA which expressly prohibits the use of coercion, pressure, undue influence and unconscionable tactics in demanding and collecting payment for any commercial transaction in Nigeria. This is more so when the payment sought to be enforced is disputed. MSC's action infringe several other provisions of the FCCPA. An industry sources disclosed that MSC has scant regards for Nigeria and for Nigerian based businesses, because they believe they can buy everybody, given that they are well connected. Industry sources accuse MSC of taking Nigeria and Nigerians for a ride, as it boasts that it has a monopoly of the Nigerian Shipping Industry and is therefore untouchable. However the arrest of MSC TASMANIA, may have sparked renewed interest on the part of other victims of MSC, to come and challenge the shipping giant. Sources hinted that MSC may have been making moves for adjudication of it's matter with INTERGLOBAL in London, United Kingdom, inspire of the fact that the matter originated in Nigeria..

Ohanaeze Rivers, Describes Ogbakor Ikwerre Actions Against Mbata, as Merely Academic...Says Dim Uchechukwu Nnam Okwukwu is Ohanaeze President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. The Rivers state chapter of Ohanaze Ndigbo, has described the recent actions taken by the pan Ikwerre Socio-Cultura Organisation, Ogbakor Ikwerre against Senator John Azuta Mbata, as merely academic. The association in a press statement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by Hon. Owhonda Iheanacho Nwakanma, the Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Rivers State Chapter, noted that it has "observed with mild interest, the drama and posturings revolving around Senator John Azuta Mbata, and the regime of sanctions, rolled out against his person by the Ogbakor Ikwerre Socio Cultural Organisation". Recall that Ogbakor Ikwerre, had in a furious reaction, withdrawn Mbata’s membership, stripped him of all awards, honours and titles bestowed on him by any organisation in Ikwerre, and declared him a stranger in Ikwerreland .The group in a statement jointly signed by its President-General Dr. Godspower Onuekwa and Secretary-General Nyebuchi Philips said Mbata, by exercising his fundamental human right to join Ohaneze, had renounced his membership of Ikwerre ethnic group (Iwhuruohna). Ogbakor Ikwerre said: “Senator John Azuta Mbata has the inalienable right to belong to any association of his choice in Nigeria as enshrined in Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “Having freely accepted the position of President-General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, an exclusive organisation of Igbo people, he has willingly and freely renounced his membership and identity with the Ikwerre (Iwhuruohna). Reacting to the whole saga, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Rivers State Chapter, through its spokesperson, Hon. Nwakanma, disclosed, "While, we believe that the contending parties are equal to the task of defending or justifying their actions, we are however piqued that in the whole confusion, a piece of disinformation have started gaining currency, to-wit, that Senator John Mbata is the elected President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Nothing can be far from the truth". . According to Hon. Nwakanma, "For the records, we wish to state the following: 1)The decision of Ogbakor Ikwerre was not neccessary as, Senator John Mbata is not and has never been a member of Ohanaeze. He had never attended a meeting of the GENERAL Assembly or IME-OBI, neither has he canvassed any known position on behalf Ohaneze or Ndigbo in general. 2) The current President General of OHANEZE NDIGBO, is DIMM UCHECHUKWU NNAM OKWUKWU, who for over 30 years had committed his life to the Igbo cause, and in the past rose to the position of the Secretary General, Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide. 3) DIMM Uchechukwu Nnam Okwukwu was validly elected the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide at a General Assembly held in Port Harcourt, in accordance with the tradition, convention and the constitution of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, as opposed to the preposterous and bizarre assemblage at the governors lodge at Enugu, whose illegal and false mandate, Senator Mbata has been decieved to believe, that he is exercising. Continuing, Hon. Nwakanma said, "We advise Ogbakor Ikwerre and the general public to be wary of false claims of meddlesome interlopers, whose sole mission is to further balkanize Ohanaeze Ndigboand make them malleable for manipulation and marginalization. We equally further wish to urge Ogbakor Ikwerre to disregard any claims by Senator Mbata and his co-travellers to the Ohanaeze Presidency, as it is a ruse and cheap theatrics and call on Senator John Mbata to formally join OHANAEZE and rally support for the validly elected President General, DIMM UCHECHUKWU NNAM OKWUKWU".

Wike Left Lasting Legacies in Ekpeye Kingdom, As Governor - Prince Chibudom Nwuche ...As Ekpeye People Declare Support for Wike. Ekpeye people in their thousands, including members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have declared support for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Chief Nyesom Wike, in the ongoing crisis in Rivers State. They made their stand known on Thursday when a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, hosted leaders, executive members, and stalwarts of the PDP and the APC in Ahoada East and Ahoada West LGAs, at Ochigba Town. Nwuche, who holds the traditional title of Esama Ekpeye Loogbo, expressed gratitude to party members for their tireless efforts in mobilising the community for the end-of-year thanksgiving and a civic reception for Wike. Nwuche, who is also widely regarded and accepted as the political leader of Ekpeye People, commended them for their extraordinary courage and steadfastness despite the challenges caused by the ongoing crisis in Rivers. He said it was unusual for people to continue waxing strong after working to install a government without getting any recognition or reward. He said: “Many of you have shown remarkable dedication and perseverance, staying committed to the party’s ideals despite the difficulties. It’s not easy to keep faith when it seems like the odds are against you, but you have done just that.” Nwuche emphasised the importance of consistency and perseverance, stressing that growth and progress required staying committed to a cause. He encouraged party members to remain steadfast in their support for Wike insisting that Wike stood out among other governors in leaving lasting legacies in Ekpeye Kingdom. He said Wike’s administration brought over 18 projects to Ekpeye land, including the Campus of Rivers State University in Ahoada, the Ahoada-Omoku road and the Ochigba Road, which he said was initially awarded by Amaechi’s government but abandoned until Wike’s intervention. Nwuche also commended Wike for empowering a company in Ahoada, which created jobs for over 1000 youths in the region. He noted that the company built a yard, trained youths in various skills and procured an Alsphat plant, saying the previous administration made efforts to bring industries and businesses to the Ahoada zone of the state by providing people with a means of livelihood. He regretted that the project was eventually abandoned because of politics, and small mindedness of the present administration. He said: “Coming to the governors of this state, I have known all of them, from Ada George, up to Amaechi before Wike, I know them one on one. Let me ask you, sincerely, have there been any development you can point to in Ekpeye land before Wike’s time? “Just point to one, we had other governors here, we had Ada George, we had Peter Odili, Amaechi, point to one development. We had other governors before Wike. None of them left any legacy in Ekpeye, no development, no road projects, no water projects, no electrification, nothing”. Nwuche advised leaders to have a large heart and not use their offices to witch-hunt Rivers sons and daughters. He praised Wike for his ability to forgive and empower people, citing the example of Senator Magnus Abe, who opposed Wike but has now joined him. He said: ” You do not abandon project because you didn’t award them, or because those who sponsored the company are not with you. You should think about the state, when you do that you demarket the state, empowerment is about giving people money, it is about planting industries, bringing in businesses that they can find a means of livelihood directly from. “So, that is why, you see, I am supporting Wike hundred per cent. Because many of them who were in power as governors used their offices to witch hunt Rivers sons and daughters. I have borne the brunt of their witch hunt, many of you are aware of that. One of them, when he was minister, a company we bought had a project with NPA he cancelled it. “That company would have employed people from here and Rivers State. So, all I will advise is that those, who are expected to lead, should have a large heart. If you are parochial, or small minded, you can’t be a leader. And that is why I like Wike. People who were in APC who opposed Wike have now joined him, because he forgives. People like Abe are now with Wike because he forgives, and have a large heart and able to empower people. “Under this past governors that I mentioned before Wike, mention one Ekpeye billionaire that they made. Mention one person. So Ekpeye has no billionaires? They were governors for how many years, a few of them four trillion passed through their hands in four years but they could not build one person in Ekpeye. Till today, until Wike came. So, please let us look at people who mean well for the masses and follow them”. The Special Guest of Honour and former Council Chairman of Ahoada-West, Hope Ikriko revealed that despite having grievances with former Governors of Rivers State, they would exercise restraint. Ikiriko noted that the Ahoada PDP and APC party faithful had defied the impression that only those in government could reap benefits observing that some members of the PDP and APC were looking “far better” than those, who had defected to other parties. He also corrected an impression by a former Chairman of ONELGA, who claimed that Wike asked them to submit letterhead documents authorising the withdrawal of N20million monthly from their allocation. Describing the claims as a “blatant lie”, Ikiriko advised the crowd to remain steadfast and patient, saying that Wike’s leadership was organic and would continue to inspire loyalty. He praised Wike for protecting everyone, regardless of party affiliation, and for standing up for the truth. He said: “Let me conclude by correcting an impression that one of my former colleagues made recently on social media. The former Chairman ONELGA, who said the former governor asked us to submit letterhead paper and asked us to sign authorising him to take N20million from our allocation every monthly, that is a blatant lie! “Nothing of such happened. On that note, let me advise you, whatever you are seeing today will fizzle out. We cannot advise anyone of you to take issues with any elder in the state and begin to insult people. “There are several and better ways to defend your leader and stand by your leader. And that is why we are standing by him. We have things to say to all the former governors but wisdom demands that we listen when it is not your place to speak.”

Navy Detains Port Harcourt Lawyer Kevin Okorie and Two Others for Three Months Over Coast Guard Bill. A Port Harcourt-based lawyer, Kevin Okorie, and two other individuals have been detained by the Nigerian Navy for over three months, allegedly due to their support for legislation to establish a Nigerian Coast Guard. Okorie’s wife, Esther, revealed that the detention began on September 10, 2024, when personnel from the Iwofe Aker Base in Port Harcourt first detained Jeffrey Agogoh and Udo. The men were reportedly invited to the base under the pretense of attending a meeting, after which Okorie was also called to the facility. The detainees had been advocating for the creation of the Nigerian Coast Guard, a bill which had already progressed to its second reading and public hearing stages. Their efforts included writing letters to both the federal government and the navy regarding the proposed agency. Esther Okorie said that after Kevin’s initial meeting on September 10, he did not return home that evening. The following day, he called her to say he was returning with naval officers, but he never arrived and became unreachable. Upon visiting the naval base on September 13, she was told that Kevin was not in custody, but later confirmed his detention after he contacted her using an officer’s phone. Despite bringing food for him, Mrs. Okorie was denied direct access to her husband. Family sources indicated that Okorie was later transferred to Abuja, reportedly to the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), though the agency has denied holding him. The ongoing detention of Okorie and the two other men without formal charges or a court appearance raises serious concerns about due process and the treatment of civilians advocating for maritime security reform in Nigeria. The Nigerian Navy has not responded to multiple requests for comment, and efforts to contact Defence Headquarters spokesperson Brigadier General Tukur Gusau have been unsuccessful. Mrs. Okorie has expressed distress over the situation, noting that their children have been crying and refusing to eat, asking to see their father. This incident is part of a broader pattern of alleged violations by Nigerian security agencies, including the recent three-day detention of FIJ’s founder and editor-in-chief Fisayo Soyombo during an investigation into oil bunkering in Port Harcourt.

Wike Berates Omehia, Secondus at Ahoada PDP Thanksgiving. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has taken a swipe at two chieftains of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state, Chief Celestine Omehia and Uche Secondus, for making disparaging remarks about him and his tenure as state governor. Chief Barr Wike used the opportunity of a Thanksgiving Service organized by stakeholders of the PDP in Ahoada East and West LGAs of the state, at Ochigba, to hit back at the two chieftains of the PDP. According to Wike, "recently I heard that one slowpoke, who was pretending to be governor until we kicked him out, said that I have not done anything for Rivers state. You see I wonder how this people reason. I am Minister of the FCT, a city that has the status of a state. The FCT Ministry is not like any other ministry. I cannot bring roads meant for Abuja to Rivers state. When I was Minister of State for Education, I brought Law Faculty to the University of Port Harcourt. I gave grants to Ajuru University and Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic. I transformed Federal Government Collage, Rumuokoro and Federal Government Girls Collage, Abuloma, to envienble status. You see these are people without character and integrity. These are people who opposed us during the election and worked against the PDP. Today they describe us as enemies of the state and they have become friends of the governor". Continuing, Wike said that he had not regrets removing Uche Secondus as the party chairman. "Uche Secondus went to Bori and said I didn't do anything for the state. These are funny people. I awarded the contracts for Bori Internal Roads, and paid 50% of the contract sum, believing that those who we worked to get elected, should continue from where we stopped. Uche Secondus wanted me to make his cousin, Tele Ikuru governor. He fought us and fought against the present governor during the election. Today he has become friends with the governor and the rest of us are enemies. Very soon we shall see".

EKPEYE ADVOCACY GROUP AHOADA TOWN – RIVERS STATE 7th December, 2024 REBUTTAL Our attention has been drawn to the barefaced lies told by the Governor of Rivers State His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara at Ahoada town on Friday 6th December 2024 while commissioning the remodeled Government Girls Secondary School Ahoada. The governor had openly declared that Ekpeye kings especially Eze Ekpeye Logbo HRM Kelvin Anugwo and Eze Igbu Akoh HRM Cassidy Ikegbidi who were arrested, detained and prosecuted by the Nigeria Police for alleged complicity in the gruesome murder of the DPO of Ahoada Police Division late SP Bako Amgbashim, were rather singled out for persecution because of their support for him in the cause of the political crises in Rivers state, an assertion that is obviously a lie. The expression on the faces of Ekpeye people at the arena when the governor made the comment clearly indicted their resentment as all Ekpeye people know the facts and extent of involvement of all arrested persons in the Bako murder saga. At first one would have been tempted to consider the comment as one of the governor’s usual and frequent misfires in public without facts as experienced few days ago in Etche when he said that the past administration of Chief Nyesom Wike did not commission any project in Etche for 8 years but it took a social media post by one of our sons Mr Marshall Obuzor to draw the governor’s attention with evidences that contrary to his claim, projects were initiated and commissioned in Etche by the Wike administration. This the governor later admitted and retracted his false claim while speaking at Ahoada even though he tried to undermine the importance and significance of the Wike projects to Etche people. Ordinarily we wouldn’t have bordered to react to the governor’s lies because of the obvious facts of the Bako murder, but we are compelled to do so for record purposes and for the sake of the general public who may be tempted to take the governor’s words serious because it came from a governor. We are also compelled to react bearing in mind that the governor did not make such pronouncement unconsciously but rather deliberately to distort facts, play politics and whip unnecessary sentiment from the public. Of course the governor knows very well that there is no link between SP Bako’s murder and his self inflicted political ordeal as both do not occur same period. It is on record that DPO Bako was murdered on Friday 9th September 2023 and the Ekpeye Kings were arrested on the orders of the Commissioner of Police on Sunday 11th September while his political ordeal occurred on 30th October 2023, a time the Ekpeye kings were already two months in detention. This being the fact which the governor is very much aware of, it then baffles common reasoning why the effort to associate himself and his political ordeal with the dastardly act, except there is any behind the scene details not known to us but then we recall also that weeks before Bako was murdered by 2Baba and his gang, the governor had also publicly referred to 2Baba and his gang as “those Cassidy boys”. The governor’s decision to associate himself with the circumstances surrounding Bako’s death has also given credence to comments credited to his Chief of Staff Rt Hon Edison Ehie that he was instrumental to the dismissal of the case in court and release of the kings. This has severally been collaborated by Eze Kelvin and Eze Cassidy who have been expressing thanks to Edison for their release. Of utmost concern to us is the governor’s decision who is the Chief security officer of the state to trivialize and politicize the globally condemned murder of SP Bako Angbashim and the resort to condemning and tarnishing the image of the Nigeria police for the arrest and prosecution of the suspects linked to the Bako murder. Our worry in this effort to downplay the gravity of the Bako’s murder and other heinous crimes in Ekpeye is that despite the killing of 2Baba, gruesome murders have continued to occur in Ekpeye on a daily basis without any deliberate effort by the state nor the local governments to end the insecurity. In the past 2 months alone over 20 gruesome murders have been recorded in Ekpeye without the authorities blinking an eye. Some of these include the killing of 5 persons in Edeoha town on 20th October, be heading of 2 persons in Ihuowo town, killing of 2 persons in Odiabidi town, killing of 3 persons at Ula Ehuda on 22nd October, killing of over 5 persons within Ahoada town, killing of paramount ruler and youth leader of oshiugbokor town on 8th September 2024 and yesterday’s murder of Mrs Akpani and her 5 years old son while her stomach was ripped open and the baby in her womb harvested with other organs at Ula Upata community and many more. In the just concluded local government elections, all the known cultists and murderers in Ekpeye were allocated councilorship slots which they used their wives, girlfriends or relatives all this to us is an effort to empower these criminals and embolden them to perpetuate their killings and intimidate the people to submission. We therefore wish to use this opportunity to plead with the security authorities to come to our aid as there appears to be a deliberate effort to exterminate Ekpeye people. Signed Olimini Chinuzoke (Convener) Nnamdi Ezebalike (Director Publicity)

Bako Amgbashim"s Death: Gov. Sim Fubara's End less Lies. By Harrison Okpara John The holy scriptures admonishes us to speak the truth, because it is only the truth that can set us free. This dictum is not a respecter of status or age. It was therefore a shocker to the crowd of assembled Ekpeye people at Ahoada on 6th December, 2024, when the Rivers State governor, Sir Siminilayi Fubara, dropped a lie of megaton proportions. Gov. Fubara should have left well enough alone and gone about his job of commissioning his projects, but driven by hate and vendetta against, real and imagined enemies, he crossed the line. He told an outrageous lie, that those who were arrested and arraigned for their complicity in the killing of the gallant Divisional Police Officer for Ahoada Division, late Bako Amgbashim, were arrested because they were his supporters, especially Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi and not because they had any hand in the killing of the gallant police officer. Gov. Fubara sought to change the narrative by asserting that the chain of events that led to Bako Angbashims death and the subsequent arrest and prosecution of Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi and others, preceeded his ascension into office and the arrest was ochestrated by his enemies against his supporters. In his effort to malign the Hounorable Minister of the FCT, Chief Ezebinwo Nyesom Wike, and those he reffered to as his "enemies", Gov. Fubara forgot that his assertions and claims could not correlate, with the timeline of events, which were widely reported by the Nigerian media. Gov. Sim Fubara betrayed his oath as a Knight of the Anglican Church when he claimed that Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi and the Eze Ekpeye Loogbo, HRM Ngozi Onugwo, were arrested and detained by his opponents, over the murder of DPO Bako Amgbashim, because of their support for him. There was a hush in the crowd as the people caught their breath, knowing that Cassidy Ikegbidi, could not be exonerated over the killing of the police officer, given his past sordid records. In his haste to drag the honourable Minister and his perceived enemies into the fray, Gov. Fubara forgot that facts are sacred and cannot be wished away. To set the records straight, it will be necessary to recreate a timeline of events for the reading public. 1) Sim Fubara was sworn as governor on May 29th, 2023. Going forward he was privy to all security reports concerning the state. 2) DPO Bako Amgbashim was killed on Friday September 8th, 2023. That is four clear months after Sim Fubara became governor. 3) On Saturday 11th September, 2023, Cassidy Ikegbidi was arrested by the security agencies for complicity in the murder of DPO Bako Amgbashim. According to a news report published on PM NEWS of 17th November, 2023; "Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara had announced the suspension of Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi Eze Igbu Akoh II, for acts of complicity and allegedly ceding control of his territory to the notorious criminal gang who murdered the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada Police Station. Fubara noted that Gift David and his criminal gang were allowed to establish camps in the locality and are responsible for the resurgence of violent crimes, including kidnapping and terrorism in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the State". Announcing the suspension of Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi, as a traditional ruler, Gov. Sim Fubara said; “His Majesty, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi Eze Igbu Akoh II, is hereby suspended indefinitely for acts of complicity in ceding control of his territory to the notorious David Gift and his gang to freely operate and carry out their criminal activities” the Governor said. One wonders if this is the language, used to describe a supporter. Gov. Fubara acted on incontrovertible security reports and conclusive investigation carried out by the Rivers State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS).. 4) Cassidy was granted bail on Tuesday, 28th November, 2023, after compromised police officers suppressed evidence on the directive of key agents of the state government. All these chain of events took place months after Gov. Fubara assumed office. It is unfortunate and irresponsible that in his desperation to shore up his dwindling support base in Ahoada, Gov. Fubara can resort to lies and hobnob with known felons and criminals. The court may have granted Cassidy Ikegbidi and his cohorts bail, but the people know that they were not innocent of the crimes they were charged. Cassidy Ikegbidi has been fingered previously of using Gift Okpara (2 Baba) to eliminate his opponents. Some of his victims include late Barr. Nathan Akatakpo, Dr. Vincent Enwukagbiyor, Dr. Studio Aguiyi, Mrs. Chigbewejom Lawyer, Matthew Ebenezer, Aburi Edi Duckson, Papa Eze, Chief Alugo Joseph, Chukwu Kpasa, Chief Sunday Ayada and Elder James Okorji. The murder of DPO Amgbashim happened several months after the election. It is therefore strange that the governor is raising the issue of supporters, to justify his truncating of the prosecution of Cassidy Ikegbidi and cohorts. But this is not the first time, Gov. Fubara will be caught pants down, for unnecessary lies and deception. It is rather tragic that Gov. SIM FUBARA CONTINUES EXPOSE HIMSELF AS A MASTER OF DOUBLE-SPEAK. He says a different thing in the morning and by noon, he is ready with another story. For instance at Etche LGA, on Wednesday, 4th December, 2024, while commissioning a road project, Gov. Fubara said; "Somebody mentioned here, when we came onboard, there is some part of the road connecting Imo State. Because the road had a few meters to an opposition politician, the project was terminated in front of the man's gate for so many years and he suffered. "Providing projects should not be being wicked to none supporters. No, no. It should be about service. It doesn't matter where the person will be. In essence GOV. SIM FUBARA said that he doesn't play politics with projects. Less than 24 Hours later, at Ahoada, he announced that he had cancelled a road project, awarded to a prominent Ekpeye son, because, according to him, the contractor is his enemy and therefore an enemy of the state: Hear him at Ahoada; "As for the internal roads and other things, you already know the story there. The person the job was given to, wonderful young man but doesn't have the boldness. "He can't look at truth and say what they are doing and what we are doing is bad. So, I feel it will be wrong for me to continue to sponsor somebody who has come openly to declare himself an enemy of the state. "So that project, I believed, the Ministry of Works has written to them. I am going to cancel it officially and reaward it for the completion". Gov. Fubara claimed that work stopped in the project site since December last year. He forgot that the contract was awarded to a company affiliated or nominated by a prominent Ekpeye leader and was ongoing. One wonders why and how it took Gov. Fubara almost 16 months to realize that the project was not on going. It took him the whole of 16 months to come to the realization that the prominent Ekpeye son and political leader, is not a Janus faced politician, but is a force for the Honourable Minister and a dependable ally. Maybe after waiting for 16 months to see if the Ekpeye political leader was like other politicians, who will mortgage their belief for a mess of porridge, and realizimg that he is not like that, he scurried to Ahoada to display his hatred and contempt for Ekpeye people, in his attempt to whittle down the influence of the afore said political leader. If the governor was perceptive he would have noticed the sighs, hisses and grumblings that erupted immediately, he announced that he has cancelled the contract. Watching, the governor at Ahoada, one feels pity for our dear state. Gov. Sim Fubara cut the picture of a man who is woefully out of his depths and has therefore elevated, cant, hubris, summersaults and inconsistency into an art form. He lies unnecessarily. Again at Etche he said; "I am happy to say here, I stand to be challenged, this administration has not borrowed to execute project. "The only money we borrowed was the one we used in the Ring Road project and everybody is aware of it. "Go and bring any paper, go to Debt Management Office and check if we have asked for anything. "We don't need it. What is important is the little we are getting, we are applying it rightly. Yet figures released recently by the Debt Management Office indicate that Rivers State foreign debts rose from $80.94 million in December 2023, to $203 81 million in June 2024! How did the debt profile of the state jump by a whooping $122.87 million under his watch in just six months? Still not done with lying, Gov Fubara said at Etche; "I stand to be challenged, Omuma for more than 8 years have not witnessed any project". The tragedy in this bare faced lie, was not only that while the lies oozed out of the governors mouth, Sir Celestine Omehia was standing right beside him, but because Gov. Fubara ought to know better. In 2021, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike - CON, GSSRS as Governor of Rivers State after re-instating Celestine Omehia as a recognised former Governor of Rivers State albeit shortlived for a period of 6 months due to some legal steps taken , paid him his emoluments as an ex-governor which (technically) shouldn't have happened (anyway), went to Omuma in Rivers state to commission road projects. This was widely reported as at the time. It was therefore a surprise seeing the same Celestine Omehia standing beside Governor Sim Fubara commissioning an 11 km road in the same Omuma and Gov. Fubara boldly stated that no projects has ever been done in that part of Rivers State for 8 years and Omehia clapped. Nothing defines shamelessness better than this. Before he utters his next lie, Gov. Sim Fubara should do well to remember the immortal words of Uthman Dan Fodio, " conscience is an open wound; only truth can heal it".

Rivers Coalition for Human Rights (RCHR) 28 Pipeline Road, Elelenwo Port Harcourt, Rivers State Email: riverscoalition705@gmail.com Sir Siminilayi Fubara, The Executive Governor Of Rivers State Your Excellency, Petition on the Willfull and Malicious destruction of Playing ground and degradation of the Environment at Community Primary school, Nkpor, Obio Akpo LGA by Xando De Manchesto Nig.ltd, a Contractor for SAIPEM NIG. LTD. Permit us to write directly to your office to bring to your notice the Willfull and Malicious destruction of the Playing field and degradation of the Environment at Community Primary school, Nkpor, Obio Akpo LGA by Xando De Manchesto Nig.ltd, a Contractor for SAIPEM NIG. LTD. As part of it's Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) towards it's host community, SAIPEM NIGERIA LIMITED contracted Xando De Manchesto Nig. LTD to construct an Eight Room Classroom block at Community Primary School, Nkpor, Obio Akpo LGA. This ordinarily noble gesture has however turned into a Greek gift, as the way and manner the contractor Xando De Manchesto Nig. Ltd has gone about executing the contract has left the community in anguish. FIRST, The Contractor, Xando De Manchesto Nig. Ltd, under the supervision of Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah, despite concerns raised by the community, laid waste to the scenic beauty of the school environment by hacking down the trees that provide shade for both the pupils of the school and community members. These trees Also provided nesting grounds for various birds, and attracted nature lovers and bird watchers to the area. Even with the global awareness on Climate Change, and the important role trees play in protecting our environment, SAIPEM's contractor, Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah, still went ahead to hack down the trees. SECOND, The SAIPEM Contractor, Xando De Manchesto Nig. Ltd, under the supervision of Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah, went ahead to destroy the playing field at Community Primary school, Nkpor, Obio Akpo LGA. The importance of this playing field may not be underscored by the fact that it is used as a playing pitch by Noble Minds All Stats of Port Harcourt. The playing field serves as a community resource center in several ways. Joggers, leisure walkers, and picnickers use the playing field on a daily basis. Other recreational activities like weddings, child dedications, burials etc are hosted in the destroyed playing field. The irony is that Xando De Manchesto Nig. Ltd, could have executed the contract without the destruction of the pitch, but Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah, choose out of malice to destroy the playing field. When our investigating team visited the area, the Team Manager of Noble minds All stars of Port Harcourt, Mr. Bethel Chibulanotu Wawusor lamented the actions of Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah on the destruction of the football pitch where the club regularly trains. Mr Bethel who is also the secretary of Rumuolumeni All Stars said that Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah who was awarded with a contract through his company to erect more class rooms at Nkpor Community primary school, used the job to destroy a whole segment of the field. He described the action of Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah as not only malicious, but an act against the environment and nature. Mr. Bethel noted that sporting activities is a unifying factor that uplifts humanity and engages the youths body and soul, thereby keeping them from indulging in negative tendencies. He regretted that rather than promoting and encouraging the young stars, Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah choose to destroy their football pitch, where talents are trained and developed. He used the opportunity to advise Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah to change his mindset and lifestyle and embrace the current trend of the society, adding that All Stars of Port Harcourt has bought sporting facilities which have been put in place to promote sporting activities in the area. We are therefore calling on His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Rivers state, to use his good offices to ensure the following: 1. Direct SAIPEM NIG LTD, and it's contractor, Xando De Manchesto Nig. Ltd, and Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah, to as a matter of urgency, restore the playing field at Community Primary School, Nkpor, Obio Akpor LGA to its original state, as the contract could have been executed without the destruction they visited on the environment and the playing field, at Community Primary School, Nkpor. 2. Direct the State Ministry of Education and the Primary School Management Board to visit Community Primary School, Nkpor, to ascertain the state of things and going forward monitor the activities of Xando De Manchesto Nig. Ltd, and Chief Alexander Nzenye Elijah in the school. 3. Take any other action that will ensure the protection of the right of the people of Nkpor Community, to the use of the playing field and the serene natural environment of Community Primary School, Nkpor. .Signed Derefaka Green Coordinator Ndamzhi Amadi Asst Secretary Hannah Nikade Program/Research Officer C.C. 1. CENTURY ENERGY DEBT CRISIS: CREDITORS SCORE MAJOR WIN AS COURT DISMISSES CENTURY'S OBJECTION CONTESTING THE HEARING OF CREDITOR'S PETITION TO WIND-UP CENTURY ENERGY SERVICES LIMITED FOR FAILURE TO PAY DEBTS In a major Ruling on Monday 28th October 2024, the Federal High Court sitting at Lagos State, Nigeria has dismissed a Motion of Preliminary Objection filed by Century Energy in the case. Recall that following Century Energy’s failure and neglect to pay the debts owed to its creditors without reason and despite several efforts by creditors demanding payment of debts that have remained unpaid for over a year, one of such creditors, Ambrey Ltd, took out winding-up proceedings in 2023 against the major oil and gas service provider before the Federal High Court in *SUIT NO.: FHC/L/CP/1889/23* (a suit *between Ambrey Limited v. Century Energy Service Limited*). Ambrey in its suit claimed that these debts had accumulated as a result of outstanding sums due to the creditors for the provision of security escort services rendered to Century Energy’s chartered vessels and remain unpaid to date. Ambrey Ltd were contracted by Century Energy and required to provided security escort services for Century Energy and other clients with respect to the hiring of the Boka Pegasus Vessel for execution of Century Energy contract involving other companies which include *Boskalis Offshore Marine Services. Century Energy had tried to fight the creditor's Petition by filing a Preliminary Objection asking the court to strike out the matter and refer it to arbitration. The Court has now ruled against Century Energy and adjourned the matter for hearing of the creditor's substantive Petition. While Century Energy may pursue an appeal of the ruling, it does seem to be the case that the tides continue to rise and flow strongly against the major oil and gas service provider.

Rivers Coalition for Human Rights (RCHR) 28 Pipeline Road, Elelenwo Port Harcourt, Rivers State Email: riverscoalition705@gmail.com 13th September, 2024 The Director General Department of State Services (DSS) Aso Drive Abuja - Nigeria Dear Sir, ILLEGAL BUNKERING, PIPELINE VANDALISM, TERRORISM, MURDER, KIDNAPPING ACTIVITIES OF ALHAJI BUBA UMARU, MOJI FRANK SAMPSON AND EMEKA KINGSLEY SAMPSON AND JUNIOR PRINCE NSIRIM AT ARADEL REFINERY AT OGBELE COMMUNITY IN AHOADA EAST LGA OF RIVERS STATE. The Rivers Coalition for Human Rights (RCHR) is a coalition of human rights and civil society groups based in and active in Rivers, working to promote respect for human rights, good governance and democracy. It is our avowed objective to intervene at every opportunity to protect the rights of citizens especially the downtrodden. This petition is an intervention on behalf of citizens of Oshiugbokor community, Ahoada East LGA of Rivers state, who have become hapless victims in their own land. It on the strength of this that we wish to draw your attention to the organized criminal activities around the Aradel Holdings (formally Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Limited NDPR) refinery in Ogbele community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State involving intimidation, harassment, torture, illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism, terrorism, kidnapping as spearheaded by Alhaji Buba Umaru, Mr Moji Sampson, Emeka Sampson and Junior Prince Nsirim (07031813173, 08054992481, 07031056516, 0915311766, 08030576721) Alhaji Buba Umaru a retired Chief Superintendent of Police has been in the employment of Aradel for over ten years as community liaison manager wherein he superintends the company’s relationship with the host communities of Ogbele, Oshiugbokor and Ubumeze. With his influence on the communities, he has been able to gain the company’s confidence to see him as their point man to manage the company’s relationship with the communities. In doing this Alhaji Buba Umaru co-opted Mr Moji Sampson and his brother Emeka Sampson from Oshiugbokor as fronts to conduct illegal bunkering activities by bringing in tankers at late nights to load crude oil and refined products from the refinery unknown to Aradel management. To consolidate the illegal activities, they engaged the services of a notorious cultist and criminal Mr Junior Prince Nsirim (aka General Junior) who has a gang of over 50 boys armed with dangerous weapons such AK 47 and other assault rifles and operate a camp at Okporowo community where they carry out various criminal activities including assassinations, murder, kidnapping, rapping etc. You will recall that on the 21st of July 2023, Junior and his boys dressed in full Army uniform ambushed Nigerian soldiers and succeeded in killing one of them and carted away their riffles. He also on 19th June killed Mr Endwell Ahuize a former SUG president of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic along Ula Upata road Ahoada and also on the 5th of August killed Mr Ibala (Gunboat) from Okoma1 in his house at Ula Ahoada amongst others. (See attached picture) Mr Moji Sampson with the funding from Buba Umaru is the one that has been procuring arms for Junior so he is very loyal to Moji and executes any directive from him including killing of any suspected opposition to Buba Umaru and Moji’s activities. They have in the process cowed the communities and committed several murders, tortures to the extent that they control all the benefits due the community from Aradel with the community getting nothing from the operations of Aradel on their land and water front with Alhaji Buba Umaru as the chief sponsor within Aradel. Those who dare to question about the community entitlements from Aradel are being murdered on the orders of Moji Sampson such as Chief Eze Alali who was shot at Okporowo on his way to his Oshiugbokor village and Mr Clifford Godwin Omu amongst others. Other community youths who dared to oppose the reign of terror and seizure of their lands and waterfront by Aradel through Moji Sampson and his brother brother Emeka Sampson who poses as the CLO under the guidance of Buba, were taken by Junior to his camp where they were tortured, videod by boys of Junior with sophisticated rifles and warned them never to ask further about anything related to Aradel. (See attached pictures). Mr Moji Sampson with the support of Alhaji Buba Umaru for no reason dethroned the paramount ruler of Oshiugbokor Chief Elysian Okpara John and proclaimed himself as the paramount ruler, imposed his brother Mr Emeka Sampson through Alhaji Buba as CLO of the land and Waterfront where Aradel Carrie’s out crude oil loading when they did not have ownership of the land. On account of his activities, Moji threatened to eliminate Chief Elysian John and his family if he does not vacate the stool and flee the community. Chief Elysian John who is over 74 years old has since been on the run for the past 3 years and can not go home for fear of his life. He has also brought an action to the Police and the Courts requesting that Moji Sampson should hand over to the community the royalties paid by Aradel to Moji on behalf of the community which he has appropriated to himself for the past five years running into over 200,000,000 million Naira. (See attached court documents). Chief Elysian also reported the threats to his life by Moji Sampson and his brother Emeka to the King of Upata His Royal Majesty Eze Felix Otuwarikpo who can attest to this. Chief Elysian John tired of running from pillar to post hiding, sought to make peace with Junior who is Buba and Moji’s military wing was lured and given confidence to meet with Junior facilitated by one Emeka Gorden - 08146097661 from Okoma2 community on the 7th of September 2024 but asked to repeat on Sunday 8th and was accompanied by a youth from the community Mr Saviour Ajikwara. Of the three of them that went on the 8th, the intermediary Mr Emeka Gorden escaped while Chief Elysian John and Saviour Ajikwara were held and killed by Junior and his boys and their remains yet to be recovered. Mr Gorden Emeka narrated that while they were at Junior’s place 4 of his boys came and took them into the bush but he may have been spared leading to his escape because he heard them saying he is not from Oshiugbokor village and Chief Elysian John and Saviour were executed on the orders of Moji Sampson and Alhaji Buba for being obstacles to their continued illegal bunkering at the Aradel refinery. Mr Moji Sampson and his brother Emeke Sampson who have become multi millionaires through illegal bunkering activities with Buba’s collaboration, and boasting that nothing will happen to them as the police and the DSS can not confront Junior on account of high power armaments and boys Junior has in his command. He also boasted that the Police can always be settled by Buba with money as a retired senior police officer to ensure their illegal activities are always swept under the carpet. Aradel Holdings whose activities have nurtured this organized criminality, bunkering, murder, assassination etc appears to be helpless as Buba Umaru is said to have blackmailed the top management and the board with bribes and kick-backs and threats that he will ground their operations if they dare to remove him from his position or the company. He has been in the position for over ten years now. We therefore wish to appeal to the DG DSS to send a crack team to address this national security issue that is affecting Nigeria’s oil revenue by virtue of the illegal bunkering and creating insecurity in Ahoada East LGA through the establishment of a criminal gang with over 50 heavily armed boys who have subjugated the communities under their control. Nwuche Urges Ekpeye Youths To Shun Planned Protest,Commends Tinubu, FCT Minister Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon Prince Chibudom Nwuche has called on youths of Ekpeye ethnic nationality in Rivers State not to join any planned protest for which they do not know the organizers and their motives. Nwuche who addressed the youths at the sideline of the just concluded PDP Ward Exco and adhoc delegates congress, stated that even though the people are very poor amidst the hunger in Nigeria, they should understand that the Tinubu administration met Nigeria almost prostrate based on the poor governance of past administrations where Nigeria was left totally broke ravaged by unemployment, insecurity and killings across the nation especially in Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, Bornu etc. He adviced them to be patient with the Tinubu administration who is determined and has shown sincere commitment by lining up various programs to end the hunger, suffering and terror in the country, noting that for the first time under the Tinubu administration, Boko Haram terrorists are now under serious pressure and have been releasing hostages including children and women in their bid to escape the superior fire power of the now determined and motivated military under the command of President Tinubu. He urged youths across the country,?especially those of Rivers State to give the government a chance, as no government can fix the problem inherited by the Tinubu administration within a year, emphasizing that Tinubu has shown commitment to Rivers people by appointing Nyesom Wike as Minister of the FCT who has indeed not disappointed any Nigerian in his performance but has made the people of the Niger Delta proud by restoring the lost glory of Abuja through the rebuilding of infrastructure in terms of roads, bridges, railways and social welfare etc. He called on Nigerians to ignore paid agents hired to malign the minister of the FCT based on their own selfish interests and motivations by people who envy the minister’s track records in Rivers state and the FCT and therefore desperate to pull him down. |

THE RIGHT TO PROTEST IS SACROSANCT - Position Of the Rivers State Branch of the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) on the planned Nationwide Protest Against Bad Governance. The Civil Liberties Organisation, affirms that Governance is a social charter between the leaders and the people, with the leaders holding their position as a Trust to provide for the security and good governance and welfare of the people, and with power belonging to the people. In Nigeria this charter is codified in Chapter 11 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended). Regrettably, this has not been the case in the past few years in Nigeria. Government has persisted in anti people policies that has plunged the greater majority of Nigerians into abject poverty and lack of adequate security with ever increasing rate of official corruption. It is therefore in the exercise of their fundamental freedom to protest that the Nigerian people have given notice that beginning from August 1sth-10th, they intend to embark on a nationwide protest, to draw attention to the failure of government to tackle the rising cost of living, hunger and total economic decay and insecurity, as provided in Chapter 4 of the Constitution. The people intend to embark on a peaceful protest against BAD GOVERNANCE in Nigeria. The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) believes that the protest is justified in the circumstance. However we urge that the protest be totally peaceful and non violent, to avert a situation where hoodlums and miscreants might have cause to hijack the protest and cause mayhem. The Civil Liberties Organisation equally tasks the Nigerian Police to be professional in relating and dealing with issues that might arise out of the protest and also to ensure the safety of the protesters. The National Human Rights Commission is equally challenged to ensure that the rights of the protesters are adequately protected and that the leaders of the protest are not witchhunted both during and after the protest. Government must act within the bounds of civilized conduct and ensure that it gives a listening ear to the protesters as well as engaging in actions and policies thst will end the hunger, hardship and anguish in the land. Dan Nwanyanwu is a serial blackmailer and hustler...Group. A group the League of Nigerian Voters, has carpeted Dan Nwanyanwu, the national chairman of Zenith Labour Party, over his allegations that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, describing him as a serial blackmailer and a hustler. The group in a statement signed by Ella Susan Chinwendu, National Cordinator, Wariso Wariso, National Secretary and Dave Moore, Ex-Officio, dismissed the allegations by Dan Nwanyanwu, that the FCT Minister sent sone people to kill him. Describing Dan Nwanyanwu's accusation as "wild and scurilious and a Macrebre dance of Falsehood and Perfidy", the group noted that "Anyone who knows Dan Nwanyanwu, should have known the objective of that video, which is to grab attention and gain relevance and bill his motley sponsors". The full statement is reproduced below: Press Statement Interrogating Dan Nwanyanwu's Macrebre Dance of Falsehood and Perfidy. At first glance, Dan Nwanyanwu's comical outburst in his well choreographed video, would have passed off as a hilarious piece of situational comedy, if not for the serious allegations he levelled against a serving Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Ezenwo Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital. Ordinarily, what should have been strictly for laughs, at once became a serious National issue, with grave national security implications. Anyone who knows Dan Nwanyanwu, should have known the objective of that video, which is to grab attention and gain relevance and bill his motley sponsors. A serial failure, who killed the Labour Party which was entrusted into his care at inception, Dan Nwanyanwu is a broke ass old man seeking for relevance and quick money. To get to the root of this whole saga, it is necessary to interrogate what actuálly transpired at the pastry shop of Transcorp Hilton. The incident which Dan Nwanyanwu has blown out of proportion was an innocuos encounter between him and Emmanuel Moses,a Rivers man from Emohua LGA . Emmanuel is a something of a comedian and a jolly good fellow with no criminal records whatsoever. On the day in question, on sighting Dan Nwanyanwu, he strolled over to innocently enquire why Nwanyanwu was intent on maligning a man who had done nothing to him,and whom he had ran to severally for favours in the past and whom he had been recently seeking appointments to meet without success. Being an agent provocateur, Dan Nwanyanwu latched on to the harmless engagement, as a causus belli, to launch into his accustomed theatrics, raising a ruckus and screaming that Emmanuel Moses, has threatened to kill him. He surmoned security men including 5 gun totting soldiers in the hotel, who intimidated Emmanuel Moses and made him to sign a document written by one the conniving security officials without allowing him to read it,and also at gun point. Beyond the theatricals and the 'notice me' posture of Dan Nwanyanwu, there are serious issues for consideration: 1. Is Dan Nwanyanwu a factor in Rivers politics? 2. What is Nwanyanwu's interest in fanning the crisis in Rivers State? From the issues raised above, it is clear that Dan Nwanyanwu is a cheap hustler and a gun for hire. That is why he is more interested in stoking the needless crisis in Rivers State, which meddlesome interlopers and conflict entreprenures like him are exploiting for personal gain. we are also aware that he is on the payroll of a known Abuja land grabber who is unhappy with the Minister's drive to restore the FCT Master Plan and stop land racketeering. No wonder he has recently upgraded and now lives and frequents expensive hotels like the Nicon Hilton with his circus trade mark hat. Dan Nwanyanwu's wild claims against the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike, is not only scurrilous, but a calculated and orchestrated hatchet job, conjured by a desperate and depraved mind, driven by lucre and insatiable greed. Nwanyanwu's single motive is to leverage on the Rivers political crisis, make a quick buck and curry favour from opponents of the Minister of the FCT. This has been a time worn practice of Dan Nwanyanwu, who is a failed politician and a broke old man, seeking to cash out from the Rivers crisis. For years he turned the Labour Party into a personal ATM. Instead of building and nurturing Labour Party into a political brand, he used it as a political ATM, he used it as a platform for extortion, aggrandisement and cheap theatricals, until he was sacked in ignominy. He is at his game once more and Chief Wike is his target. Perennially broke, Dan Nwanyanwu has been recruited in his latest endeavor, as an agent of land grabbers and some state governors, who are offended by the rising profile of the workaholic Minister and land the land reforms instituted by the FCT under his watch. There is no dept that is too low for Nwanyanwu to crawl into, once he has smelled the whiff of money. He can do anything to survive, not having any means of livelihood. His job is to move from the bar of one high profile hotel in Abuja to the other, listening to gossip, spreading disinformation and looking for potential clients for his dubious trade. Today, he is posturing as the national chairman of Zenith Labour Party, a party that has serially failed to meet up with INEC registration criteria, and hasnt produced any elected member at local and national levels of politics. Instead of concentrating on how to position his party for the next round of elections, he is busy at his usual gimmicks of conjuring political falsehood for the highest bidder. In tandem with his brother, Imo Ikenga Ugochinyere, who has left his business of representing, the good people of Ideato, they have descended on Rivers State, like a band of depraved political locust intent on feasting on the Rivers treasury. It will be a disservice to Rivers people if any politician in Rivers State will fall to the antics of these political. buccaneers, who are on a treasure hunt. We call on all Rivers politicians and indeed Nigerians to be weary of do gooders and conflict entrepreneurs who are solely interested in milking Rivers State dry. |
KONIJU KINGSHIP: AN ATTEMPT TO Re-write the history of Okrika and FORMENT UNNECESSARY CRISIS IN OKRIKA TOWN. By Duke Tamuno French philosopher, Victor Hugo, admonished that evil trives, because good men and women often chose to keep silent or do nothing. The Holy Scriptures in Job Chapter 24 verse 2 (New Living Translation (NLT) tells us that "Evil people steal land by moving the boundary markers. They steal livestock and put them in their own pastures" This is why we have chosen to respond to attempts to enthrone evil, through a contrived KONIJU KINGSHIP. Recently, the Rivers State governor, His Excellency Sir Siminialayi Fubara, was politically misled into issuing an official Gazette, ordering "That the first schedule to the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Law, No. 4 of 2015 be amended as shown hereunder: "By inserting at Column 2(1st Class) at serial No.18 (OKRIKA) the traditional cheiftancy stool known as and called Amanyanabo of KONIJU". Its important to note that Rivers State since it's creation in 1967 has been governed by 16 former Governors ,five of them are former indigenous Governors of the new Rivers State, excluding Bayalsa State. How ever non of the five former Governors gave Recognition to the Amanyanabo of koniju in Okrika Town because it's illegal. Not only is illegal, but a grave assault on history and tradition, and also a travesty of justice aimed at Okrika people. To properly situate this grave assault on our people, history and tradition, we must beckon on history to be our guide. The first question that arises is, what is the origin of KONIJU? When and how did they emerge? ,Okrika clan is made up of 9 nine Ancient Towns namely- Okrika(kirike) Town,Ogoloma,Ogu, Bolo,Abuloma,Ogbogbo,Ibaka,Isaka,Ele.No koniju . According to a colonial document issued by the District Officer of Degema Province on 23 November, 1953, Okrika was made up of 12 ( quarters) known as Biri, namely; Ambeme Biri, Agba, Egwere, Bilime, Tomo, Bulome, Edereme, Awolome, Adedeme, Ngeme, Amanongo Biri and Anyangu. These are the Biris that make up Okrika Town, under the suzerainty of the Amanyanabo of Okrika Town. There is no component or Biri known as KONIJU. The Nigerian Gazette published in Lagos, 20th March, 1953, on the Report of an Inquiry held under the Collective Punishment Ordinance (Chapter 34) on the crisis between Okrika and Ogoloma towns, which referenced the Porter Intelligence Report (1933) on the Okrika clan and the report of the Robinson Commission of Enquiry (1950) into the Okrika -Kalabari disputes, identified and re-,affirmed the 12 Biris afformentiined as the components of Okrika Town. In the book "MY DESTINY; AN AUTO BIOGRAPHY OF HRH SIR S.P.U. OGAN , ADO VIII, AMANYANABO OF OKRIKA", the revered monarch wrote, "Between 1896, when King Ibanichuka, Ado VI, Amanyanabo of Okrika, was deported by the British Colonial powers and 1928, Chief Daniel Oju Kalio was the undisputed Paramount ruler of Okrika. At his demise, in 1928, when I was still a minor, Chief Samson Igobo Adoki had the ambition of imposing himself as Paramount ruler, because he was educated and enlightened. But when his fellow chiefs opposed him, the result was a bitter rivalry, which culminated in the division of the kingdom into KONIJU and TUBONIJU. According to the proceedings of the Graham Commission of Inquiry into the incessant cause of Riots in Okrika, 1962 -1963, Chief Samson Igobo Adoki, during his testimony denied that he was the originator of the KONIJU and TUBONIJU. He said that names KONIJU and TUBONIJU were just appelations merely used to show the occupation of Okrika people. TUBONIJU means TRADERS and KONIJU means FISHERFOLKS. The report of the Commission of Inquiry into the outbreak of violence in Okrika (Official document No. 23 of 1963) abhored the division of Okrika Town into Koniju and Tuboniju. According to the report," Government should commence the process by which the division of Okrika Town into Koniju and Tuboniju sections, will eventually disappear, by no longer dealing, through it's agents, -the Provincial Commissioner and Provincial Secretary-, with the Chief Honourable Samson Adoki and Chief John George, as the respective head chiefs of these sections and deal with Okrika as a whole through the legally constituted legal instruments of government, the Okrika Town Council...." It is therefore strange and bewildering to understand the basis of the Rivers State Government Gazzette No. 23, Vol. 59 of 28th December, 2023. Clearly the purpose of the orchestrators and facilitators of this heinous attempt to divide Okrika Town is to plunge Okrika into a fresh round of crisis. Seeking to carve out a non existent town and a non existent stool as a counter poise to the known and widely recognized stool of Amanyanabo of Okrika Town, is a recipe for chaos and anarchy. The Supreme Court of Nigeria in Suit No 13/87/1963 SC 615/1965 between Chief Gabriel Wemimo Opu-Tibeya and R.J. Graham, administrative Officer and Attorney-General, Ministry of Justice, Eastern region, affirmed the report of the Graham Commission of Inquiry that Okrika Town is made up of 12 Biris, with the Amanyanabo of Okrika as it's Paramount ruler. The KONIJU phenomena can be traced to the failed bud of Chief Samson Igobo Adoki in 1928 to foist himself as the paramount ruler of Okrika. Having failed in his bid, he introduced the KONIJU and TUBONIJU controversy, which has since been tested by several court judgements. We therefore urge Governor Siminalayi Fubara to retrace his steps and not allow himself to be used in a desperate attempt by equally desperate modern day incarnation of Samson Adoki to plunge Okrika Town into an unnecessary and avoidable crisis. Gov. Fubara swore to an oath to uphold the law. The Rivers State Gazette No.23 of December 28th, 2023 is in direct contradiction to previous court judgments. We wish to remind His Excellency the teachings of the Holy Scriptures in Deuteronomy Chapter 19, verse 14 ; "Do not move your neighbor’s boundary stone set up by your predecessors in the inheritance you receive in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess". We urge the government to seek wise professional counsel such as historians with reference to late Prof Emeritus Tekena Tamuno ,Prof Emeritus Alaguo and others who made the 1978 chieftaincy Law without problems in our communities and allow peace to reign in Okrika. |
LG Autonomy: CLO Hails Supreme Court judgment The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO has welcomed the Supreme Court’s judgment affirming fiscal autonomy for local government councils across Nigeria. In a joint statement released on Friday, the South South Zone and the Rivers state branch of the CLO, the ruling was described as “a win for the people of Nigeria” and a step in the right direction. The Supreme Court’s decision overturns the previous practice of consolidating local council revenues into state government accounts. The CLO statement signed by Styvn Obodoekwe, Zonal Director and Barr. Anayo Peter Uwabuike, Interim State Chairman, lamented the earlier arrangement, stating that it was borne out of politics of hasty compromise. Expressing it's support for the ruling, the human rights group said, “We align with the decision of the Supreme Court that the structure of the Nigerian government is portioned in three layers, and of these, the local governments should be centres of development.” On Thursday, the Supreme Court declared that it is unconstitutional for state governors to hold funds allocated for local government administrations. The seven-man panel, in the judgment delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim, declared that the 774 local government councils in the country should manage their funds themselves. The apex court held that the power of the government is portioned into three arms of government, the federal, the state and the local government. The court further declared that a state government has no power to appoint a caretaker committee and a local government council is only recognisable with a democratically elected government. However, the CLO wants to state clearly that LGAs should begin to produce budgets as required by law and should begin to make their annual budgets open, participatory and accessible to the public. The era of toying with LGA funds should be over and should no longer be tolerated. This is a foundation for accountability in managing LGA funds. |

The Omoku Youth Federation in a communique issued in Omoku at the Youth Development Centre, Obohia, announced the removal of Chinedu Onyije and Charles Adiela, as President and Secretary General of the association, respectively, citing extortion of money from vulnerable individuals in exchange for job opportunities meant for the association and embezzling funds belonging to the association for personal gains. The youth body accused the ousted president of conspiring and engaging in series of misconduct contrary to the constitution of OYF, actions which runs contrary to Article 14A(VI) and (VII) of the constitution of OYF (as amended), thereby betraying the trust and confidence placed on them as President and Secretary General, by members of the OYF. |
Rivers State House of Assembly and The Challenge of Rectifying the Balkanization OF Chieftaincy Stools in Rivers State. By Monima Briggs. Recently the Kano state House of Assembly in a historic resolution, overturned the ruling of the previous Assembly which removed the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and further divided the Kano Emirate into four. The Kano Assembly not only in the landmark legislation restored Sanusi to his throne but scrapped the four emirates, thereby restoring peace and stability to the land. Also, recently a judgment of a Port Harcourt High court quashed attempts to balkanize the traditional stool of the Kula kingdom and in Okrika a High court ruled against the government recognition and certification of one of the newly created stooles in Okrika kingdom, however the ruling is on Appeal. In the past years, the traditional ruling institution has suffered from the interference and manipulation of political office holders, who through gerrymandering of traditional institutions has tempered with the hierarchy and organogram of many kingdoms all in a bid to score cheap political gains, favour their loyalists or punish dissenters. This has not only thrown the institution into chaos and plagued the state with instability, but also stultified development, as in practically every chiefdom or kingdom, across the state, chieftaincy litigation is the order of the day. Scarce resources and valuable manhours are invested into court cases, while occasionally plaguing the communities with violence. In all the known kingdoms in the state, varying degrees of chieftaincy problems, ranging from creation of new and non-existing chieftaincy stools, recognition of pretenders, and deliberate undermining of recognized and ancient stools, has all combined to create an atmosphere of uneasy tension and regular flaring up of violence. In the Ekpeye kingdom, Ogoniland, Okrika Kingdom, Abua, Kalabariland, Akpor, Ikwerre, Etche and Omuma, the result of these deliberate manipulation has wreaked havoc with the order and ranking of traditional stools. This is why the move by Kano State House of Assembly by its recent move has pointed a way out of the storm for us. The Rivers State House of Assembly must commence the process of auditing the all the Chieftaincy laws and activities relating to the chieftaincy institution undertaking by the past two administrations of the state as most of them were not done in the interest of the state or of the people but to serve narrow and jaundiced political ends. The traditional ruling stools must be insulated from the manipulation of politicians, if the state must develop and grow. So many traditional stools are today denied recognition due to political reasons, while many are given recognition, even when it is obvious that it lacks merit. The challenge before the Rivers State House of Assembly is to carry out an urgent review of the recognition and classification of chieftaincy stools in the past 12 years. Such a process will not only reveal the deliberate manipulation of the process of recognition and classification of stools, and offer the opportunity of righting the wrongs, and I pray that His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Executive Governor of Rivers State will consider the above observations in his forthcoming traditional rulers recognition and certification ceremony. |
One year scorecard: Indeed, Wike is working By Nafiu Abdul History is in the making as beginning from tomorrow, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will flag off the commissioning of projects in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. President Tinubu is presenting his scorecard through the various ministers and telling the world what his administration has been able to achieve in the past one year. For some days now the ministers, only God knows their number, have been presenting their scorecard. While they are making their presentations, many Nigerians know the truth that most of them are simply warming the ministerial slots. Some of them know, that they have failed Mr. President, failed themselves and failed the nation at large. However, there is one minister, among a few others, whose performance, so far, has been superlative. He is the workaholic minister that goes with the sobriquet, Mr. Project. He is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike. He is the man that has upped the ante of performance. His contributions to the infrastructural development of Abuja can give Mr. President almost 45 per cent of total performance of the All Progressives Congress, APC, renewed hope administration in the last one year. The blind can feel it and the deaf can see that Abuja is now a huge construction site. All over the city, the change is enveloping residents, and it is one aspect of infrastructural development that can be seen and felt by all. Abuja is changing in a lot of ways. But the most poignant and standout expression of the changes are the incredible amount of work that’s been done on the road network since Wike came on board as the FCT minister. For sure, Mr. President can conveniently say that he did not make a mistake in the appointment of Wike as FCT minister. This is because the pace of development of Abuja is significantly dependent on the capacity and qualities of the man assigned by the president as the FCT minister. Indeed, when President Tinubu appointed Nyesom Wike on 21st August, 2023, as the 17th Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, tongues were let loose, but even critics have now accepted that, indeed, Wike is working. History has a way of throwing up persons with a difference to sharpen its perspective in any given epoch. Wike is a young man in a hurry but resolute to write his name in gold. He bowed to the overpowering zeal to serve humanity. His strength of character and no nonsense reputation for getting results has made this passionate political leader from Rivers state to prove that success is no respecter of gender but favours hard work, tenacity and purpose. It appears that even in his stride, Barrister Nyesom Wike has already commenced efforts to stamp his feet in history as a man who utilised his office to make a profound difference in the lives of the people, especially rural dwellers. He is deliberate, intentional, purposeful, radical, creative and outstanding. The job of steering Abuja to the path of rapid development, a smart and functional city full of opportunities for all, a city capable of global competitiveness, intelligent and compassionate slum renewal regime, creative satellite towns development and security architecture transformation are some of the hurdles Nyesom Wike has been able to cross to write his name in gold. He is living up to the billing as a minister, and the good work that he is doing must be admired and commended. On his achievements within the past nine months he been supervising the affairs of FCT and the one year of Mr. President, Wike has been able to change the narrative as he ensured the exit of the FCTA from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) On resumption as Minister of the FCT, Wike advocated the exit of the FCTA from the TSA to pave the way for access to FCT’s internally generated revenue for the execution of projects. President Tinubu graciously granted immediate approval. This has ensured a more robust financial base for the administration to implement much-needed projects. As part of efforts to strengthen the administrative structure of the FCTA as well as ensure improved welfare and the career progression of staff, the minister sought approval for the immediate implementation of the FCT Civil Service Commission Act which was passed into law in 2018. The minister, under the Act, also approved the appointment of the FCTA head of service and nine permanent secretaries. He also sought for the creation of a Secretariat of Women Affairs and in October 2023, Mr. President approved the creation of the Secretariat for Women Affairs in FCT with Mrs. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi as its pioneer Mandate Secretary. As part of the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu in the FCT, Wike also embarked on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of dilapidated schools with a flag-off event in the FCT School for the Gifted in Gwagwalada. A total of 19 schools are scheduled for rehabilitation with 21 more earmarked for same in the 2024 budget. Determined to ensure that no ongoing project is abandoned in the FCT, the minister embarked on the completion of the ongoing road projects that had hitherto been abandoned. The minister identified the impediments to the completion of the projects such as poor funding due to low revenue generation. Several efforts were made to enforce the payment of outstanding ground rents and taxes in the FCT to shore up revenue generation. To ensure development in the rural areas of the FCT, the minister also embarked on the construction of at least five kilometer roads in each of the six Area Councils of the FCT. The roads which were deemed as very important were identified by the stakeholders in the FCT Area Councils which included construction/rehabilitation of 9km Paikon Kore-Ibwa road in Gwagwalada Area Council There were the construction of temporary access road to Saburi 1 and 2 Communities within the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) from old Keffi Road near Dei-Dei International Market FCT and the construction/rehabilitation of 7.2km Gaba-Tokulo road in Bwari Area Council Also included was the construction of a 5km asphalt carriageway from Garage Junction to LEA Secretariat, Kuje Area Council; Construction of 11km Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo road in Kwali Area Council and the Construction of 5km Naharati-River Ukya-Unguwan Hausawa Road in Abaji Area Council These rural roads are scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. When completed, the road will improve security in the rural areas as well as access to markets and farmlands. They will also encourage the development of rural areas, thereby reducing rural-urban migration in the FCT. Wike came into office at a time of heightened insecurity in the nation’s capital. He held series of stakeholder engagements with the FCT Area Councils where far-reaching decisions were made to tackle the threats of insecurity in the FCT. He donated 100 motorcycles to the various security agencies to be used for policing the rural and semi-urban areas of the FCT. More than 40 years after its creation, the FCT, under Wike, is set as from May 29, to have a functional rail transport system. He embarked on the rehabilitation of the vandalised rail tracks and renovation of the train stations, as well as the provision of access roads and parking lots to the train stations in the FCT. To the glee of the FCT residents, the Abuja metro line is among the projects that will be commissioned and opened to the use of the public by the president on Wednesday. With these, and many others, there is no doubt that, indeed, Wike is working and Abuja nay Nigeria is benefiting accordingly. Abdul is an Abuja based journalist |

Murder of DPO: Cassidy Ikegbidi Still Has Case, Human Rights NGO Insist. Petitions President Tinubu, IGP. A Human Rights NGO based in Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital, the Rivers Coalition for Human Rights (RCHR), has reacted to a recent court judgement, which acquitted High Chief Cassidy O.W. Ikegbidi of culpability in the murder of the DPO of Ahoada Division, SP. Bako Amgbashim. Describing the acquittal of Cassidy Ikegbidi as a "travesty of justice", the group alleged that there was a "deliberate bungling of the investigation and prosecution by compromised police officers and State prosecutors". This according to the group in the petition led to the Miscarriage of Justice in the case of High Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi, a key mastermind of the death of late DPO of Ahoada Division, SP. Bako Amgbashim and orchestrator of scores of other killings in Ahoada East LGA, Rivers State. The group alleged that in the desperate bid to ensure that the true story of how DPO Bako Amgbashim was murdered remains buried, "facts and evidences relating to the matter were suppressed in a sinister bid to procure freedom for High Chief Ikegbidi. A thorough investigation will unravel the criminal nexus between High Chief Ikegbidi and the terror gang led by 2Baba and the murder of SP. Bako Amgbashim and scores of other killings in the Igbuh Akoh area". The petition is reproduced below: Rivers Coalition for Human Rights (RCHR) #13 Agudama Street, D-Line, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Tel: 08064758981 The Inspector General of Police Lous Edet House Abuja. Nigeria 4th May, 2024 Sir, Petition on the deliberate bungling of the investigation and prosecution by compromised police officers and State prosecutors and Miscarriage of Justice in the case of High Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi, a key mastermind of the death of late DPO of Ahoada Division, SP. Bako Amgbashim and orchestrator of scores of other killings in Ahoada East LGA, Rivers State. We are constrained to cry out to you over what we perceive as deliberate lack of diligent prosecution and improper investigation by some compromised police officers in Rivers state, with the sole intent of muddling up the arraignment of a key mastermind of the murder of the late DPO of Ahoada Division, SP. Bako Amgbashim. We have it on good authority that the Police prosecuting team were leaned upon and compromised to sabotage the trial of the alleged mastermind who was arraigned before a law court in Rivers State, which resulted in his acquittal. In the wake of the gruesome and brutal murder of Police Superintendent Bako Amgbashim, one of the suspects arrested was High Chief Cassidy O. W. Ikegbidi, who was a known patron and accomplice of Gift David Okpara Okpolowu (a.k.a 2 baba and his terror gang, who advertised in a video that went viral that they killed the gallant police officer. We are troubled that High Chief Cassidy O. W. Ikegbidi and others implicated in the brutal killing and dozens of other murders in Ekpeyeland, were recently acquitted owing to the compromise of the officers charged with the prosecution of the case. It may interest you to know that in his desperation to escape from Justice, High Chief Cassidy O. W. Ikegbidi was alleged to have showered over N40m on the Police team. If this procured acquittal is allowed to stand, it would amount to a travesty of justice as the hands of High Chief Cassidy O. W. Ikegbidi and his terror gang are dripping with the blood of Ekpeye people and other Nigerians. For instance the native doctor who confessed that he saw and recognised Chief Cassidy at the camp of 2 Baba when he went to perfect the charm to demobilize Bako, was mysteriously murdered in Police custody. The native doctor positively identified Chief Ikegbidi during the suspects parade. The commander of Octopus Strike Unit, Superintendent Livinis Iwuh who was in custody of the confessional videos and tapes refused to release them to the authorities and was surreptitiously transferred out of Rivers State, at a time he should have been a key prosecution witness. The former Commissioner of Police, Emeka Nwonyi, was fully briefed on Cassidy Ikegbidi's complicity in the heinous murder, and was fully aware of the strength of the evidence gathered in the course of the investigation. Thus was why he ordered the arrest and arraignment of Cassidy Ikegbidi. Both Police officers should be sumoned to appear to throw more light on the matter. Other accomplices and gang members of 2Baba, who were arrested including the one who confessed that they killed a pregnant mad woman in Bayelsa, in other to use the feotus to prepare a charm, all pointed to Cassidy Ikegbidi as a key patron of their terror gang and their leader, 2Baba. From the above mentioned examples, it is clear that facts and evidences were suppressed in a sinister bid to procure freedom for High Chief Ikegbidi. A thorough investigation will unravel the criminal nexus between High Chief Ikegbidi and the terror gang led by 2Baba and the murder of SP. Bako Amgbashim and scores of other killings in the Igbuh Akoh area. It will interest you to note that since 2015, the people of Igbuh Akuh Kingdom, in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, have been grappling with unresolved systematic and calculated mass killings, which were orchestrated by High Chief Cassidy O. W. Ikegbidi , Gift David Okpara Okpolowu (a.k.a 2 baba) and their terror gang. Within this period acts of terrorisms, mass murder, rape, abuse of rights by criminal elements working under the direct control of High Chief Cassidy O. W. Ikegbidi , Gift David Okpara Okpolowu (a.k.a 2 Baba) and their terror gang, led to the total desertion of villages of Igbuh Akuh by the people for fear of death and destructions of properties. Listed below are the results of the gory harvest of death, blood spilling, unleashed on the innocent people of Igbuh Akuh Kigndom, by High Chief Cassidy O. W. Ikegbidi , Gift David Okpara Okpolowu (a.k.a 2 baba) and their terror gang. A state of anomie and hopelessness was unleashed on the poor innocent people. Due to fear and poverty, a lot of these murder cases remained unresolved, which only emboldened the culprits to kill SP Bako Angbashim. On February 6th 2016, on the instructions of the suspects , particularly High Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi, one Dr. Vincent Enwukagbiyor was killed in cold blood by cult group headed by Gift David (2 Baba). We have attached victims’ pictures for better clarifications. On the 10th of June, 2017 the same cult group led by 2 Baba on the instruction of High Chief Cassidy murdered one Dr. Studio Aguyi. On the 12th of February, Mrs. Chigbewejim Lawyer was killed by the suspects herein mentioned. On the 4th of May, 2023 Mr. Mattew Ebenezer from Abarikpo was killed by the suspects on record. Aburi Edi Dickson also an indigene of Abarikpo was killed on the 31st of May , 2023 The suspects on record masterminded the murder of Papa Eze on the 13th of July, 2022. Mr. Lazarus Jerome was killed on the 23rd of November, 2022. He is from Ihuagbogo Community. (Find attached pictorial evidence of these heinous murders) We are therefore constrained to reach out to your good office to urgently intervene by ordering for a transfer of the investigations to Force Headquarters in Abuja and a fresh arraignment of High Chief Cassidy O. W. Ikegbidi to avoid it being compromised by tainted police officers, who may have been procured to deliver a hidden agenda. Dependents of all the victims enumerated above shall be produced during the course of investigations. We pray you to use your good offices to ensure that justice is not only seen to be done in this matter but to send a message to criminals and their cohorts anywhere in Nigeria that nobody is above the law. Prince Chibudom Nwuche sues Refinitiv Limited for inaccurate, incomplete and misleading information about him on World Check Database: demands Twenty Million Dollars ($20,000,000.00) as damages Prince Chibudom Nwuche, a lawyer and former Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian Federal House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, has sued a multinational corporation, Refinitiv Limited (1st Defendant), and two others and is seeking the sum of Twenty Million Dollars ($20,000,000.00) as damages. Refinitiv, which is an American-British company and a global provider of financial market data and infrastructure, has its corporate headquarters in the United Kingdom. The Company maintains a due diligence database known as World-Check Risk Intelligence Database. The database, amongst others, provides information about politically exposed persons as well as their family members and close associates, to interested financial institutions, companies and individuals around the world. In the action filed at the High Court of Rivers State, Port Harcourt, Prince Chibudom Nwuche (the Claimant) asserted that Refinitiv i) owes him a duty of care to ensure that the information about him in its due diligence database is complete, accurate and not misleading, ii) breached the duty of care owed to him and has been grossly negligent in the way and manner it collated the information about him on its database; iii) World Check database contains incomplete, inaccurate, and misleading information about him; iv) failed or neglected to take necessary steps to ensure the accuracy and veracity of the newspaper reports it relied on before adding his name to one of its uncomplimentary and negative category; and v) has continued to maintain the incomplete, inaccurate and misleading information about him in his data even after its attention has been drawn to this via letters supported by cogent and verifiable documentary evidence. The Claimant therefore contends that he has suffered economic losses and reputational damage as a result of Refinitiv’s action. According to the Claimant, his bank accounts were closed by First Bank UK Limited (2nd Defendant) and TD Canada Trust (3rd Defendant) after relying on the information on Refinitiv’s database. Even more worrisome to the Claimant is the fact that his family members are now being affected by the acts of Refinitiv. Specifically, his daughter was denied opening an account with USB Bank, Switzerland owing to her categorization by the bank as a politically exposed person (PEP) on the basis that her father was a PEP. The Claimant is now contending in his action that he is no longer a PEP having left public office over 20 years ago and that his continued classification as a PEP by Refinitiv is unjustifiable and wrong. The Claimant also contends that he does not deserve the reputational damage and economic losses being caused by the Refinitiv’s World Check due diligence database as he is an honest and hard-working Nigerian who can account for every penny and asset he owns. Essentially, he was already a very successful business man even before ever vying for elective office and founded several companies that were active in the downstream Petroleum sector, trading refined products in Africa, and offering engineering and construction services to the major oil and gas companies including Shell, Agip, Mobil etc. The companies he founded also partnered with several international multinational companies that were industry leaders in the oil and gas sectors and won many large seismic contracts with Shell, Agip, etc. People active in the private sector between 1991 – 1999 can verify this fact. He has always maintained that he ran for elective office solely as a service to his people and not for any other purpose. Accordingly, he confirmed in the action that even during his tenure as the Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives and Chairman of the Committee of the Whole between 1999 – 2003, he was neither found wanting nor accused by anyone of involvement in any corrupt practice in spite of his involvement in the passage of important pieces of legislation and several budgets running in to trillions of Naira in Nigeria. The High Court on 24 April 2024 granted the Claimant’s application for leave to serve the Defendants outside jurisdiction. The matter is now scheduled to come up on 26 June 2024 for further proceedings. |

Group Demands Probe of Bala Wunti, NAPIMS GGM. A group the, Citizens Watch Coalition has petitioned the Nigerian Senate Demanding the Probe of the Group General Manager of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPMS), Bala Wunti. Recall that as part of the restructuring and consolidation of the NNPC Limited, NAPIMS is now known as the NNPC Upstream Investment Commission. Until his elevation as GGM, one of the most influential roles in the Nigerian Oil industry, Wunti was the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of the NNPC Upstream Management Services. The group in the petition alleged Multi-billion Dollar Corruption, Massive Contracts Fraud and Sabotage of the nation’s economy by the Group General Manager, National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPMS), Bala Wunti. In the petition addressed to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas (Petroluem Resources, the group alleged that "Overtime, independent industry sources have revealed that Wunti allegedly awarded different contracts in flagrant violation of the procurement processes and only to companies endorsed by him. According to these sources, the NNPC boss is also known for frustrating oil development operations over his alleged greed and personal interest". Urging the Senate to urgently probe the state of affairs at NAPIMS, the group disclosed, "There is no doubt that the activities of Bala Wunti represent a clear and present danger to the survival of the Nigerian oil sector, if allowed to continue. This is an urgent call on the Senate to initiate a thorough investigation into the activities of Bala Wunti and his management of NAPIMS". The petition is reproduced below: Citizens Whistleblowers Coalition (CWC) #22 Mbiama-Yenagoa Road, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Tel: 07064748981. whistleblower@gmail.com. The Chairman Senate Committee on Gas(Petroleum Resources) National Assembly Abuja. Sir, Petition on the Multi-billion Dollar Corruption, Massive Contracts Fraud and Sabotage of the nation’s economy by the Group General Manager, National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPMS), Bala Wunti. We are constrained to address this petition to your office, in recognition of the fact that the National Assembly remains the true representatives of the Nigerian People and owes the electorates the obligation to stand as a bulwark against corruption and economic sabotage. It is no secret that over the years, some top management staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited have been accused of awarding fraudulent multi-billion dollars contracts without recourse to procedure and due process. Of immediate concern is the fact that if what was described as corrupt practices in the nations apex oil industry was a trickle, today we are confronted by an avalanche, that if left unchecked will doom oil production and lead to a possible economic meltdown occasioned by lost oil revenue. Leading the pack in this upsurge of corrupt practices, according to confidential sources within the industry and preliminary investigations is the Group General Manager, National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPMS), Bala Wunti. Instructively, as part of the restructuring and consolidation of the NNPC Limited, NAPIMS is now known as the NNPC Upstream Investment Services. Until his elevation as GGM, one of the most influential roles in the Nigerian Oil industry, Wunti was the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of the NNPC Upstream Management Services. It was reliably gathered that Wunti got the job through the influence of Malam Abba Kyari, the late Chief of Staff to President Buhari. He hails from the same Bauchi State as Mrs Kyari. Overtime, independent industry sources have revealed that Wunti allegedly awarded different contracts in flagrant violation of the procurement processes and only to companies endorsed by him. According to these sources, the NNPC boss is also known for frustrating oil development operations over his alleged greed and personal interest. Following the transition of the NNPC into a public limited liability company saddled with the responsibilities of raising funds both locally and internationally with huge investors' confidence, it is expected that its operations will be run transparently and devoid of any whiff of sharp practices. It goes without saying that any hint of scandal associated with the company will immensely affect her image and also the country at large. This is why the Nigerian Senate must rise to the occasion and probe into the operations of the management of NNPC, now NNPC Ltd and specifically the current GGM of NAPIMS, Bala Wunti who over the years with the collaboration of his cohorts in both the multinational and indigenous oil companies has been involved in defrauding the nation's wealth through Inflating NAPIMS JV Cash Call Budgets. Credible and independent industry sources who have spoken to Citizens Whistleblowers Coalition (CWC), alleged the following acts of corruption and fraudulent practices against Bala Wunti and his stewardship in NAPIMS: 1. Affiliations and Profit Sharing with certain oil servicing companies and multinational oil companies with the collaboration of certain individuals in these companies namely Eroton, Aiteo, Belema oil etc. 2. Bullying and frustrating contractors and operators (mainly the indigenous oil companies who have refused to partake in his fraudulent schemes) and frustrating oil development operations due to his greed and promotion of personal interest. 3. Total disregard for rules and due process in contracting processes. 4. Falsifying documents to conceal bribe payments and fraudulently mischaracterizing these bribes as normal business expenses. 5. Overbilling with an understanding that some of the payments are bribes; and Inappropriate hiring practices, such as issuing contracts or hiring candidates solely based on referrals by his cronies and business associates. Amidst the various indecent and corrupt practices being perpetuated by the GGM NAPIMS, Mr. Bala Wunti and his cohorts in the operating oil companies, is the continual decrease in Nigeria's oil production which could be partly linked to his greed and style of management. We understand that some certain personalities in NNPC top management are well protected due to their ties to previous administrations, especially Bala Wunti who is being referred to as the "most powerful man currently in NNPC”. He is a man who commands his protection by providing funds got from his criminal acts to his protectors in the corridors of power. We urge Nigerians to come out with credible information on the activities of Bala Wunti and his cohorts in NNPC Limited and NAPIMS, as these acts are bleeding the nation dry. Such information should be forwarded to whistleblower@gmail.com. This will aid in the prosecution of all those involved in this gargantuan rip off of the nation. Investigations by Citizens Whistleblowers Coalition (CWC), show that Bala Wunti and his cohorts in the operating companies are engaged in fraudulently inflating the yearly JV cash call budgets to cover their share/interest and once the funds are made available by the Federal Government & JV Partners, their shares are split accordingly. This is usually done with JV companies like Eroton, Aiteo, Belema oil etc. This is not just fraudulent but constitutes economic sabotage on the nation. A Forensic Audit will unearth the Augean stable of the financial reporting misconduct going on at NAPIMS. There has been reported cases of inflating the cost of the crude handling charge for every barrel of oil that is lifted out of our troubled oil producing regions. This is included in the JV budget. Investigation shows that a specific amount (about $4/bbl) is being added on the actual handling cost that is provided in the budget to cover Bala Wunti and his cohorts interest/share. Again, their interest is farmed out once the funds are made available. JV companies involved in this are Eroton, AITEO, Belema oil, etc. A Forensic Audit will reveal that Bala Wunti is involved in profit sharing with some certain service providers with which he uses to inflate project rates. Most worrisome is the bullying of indigenous oil companies and favoritism to a few oil companies in ensuring contracts are awarded to certain companies which we believe he has affiliations. Under his watch, NAPIMS has stopped collecting tenders as he operates with a list of favored companies manned by his fronts and cohorts who are given all the contracts in the oil industry. It is an open secret that Wunti is notorious for frustrating oil development operations for personal gains and using his position as a top official to exclusively give contracts to companies he favors in flagrant violation of the procurement procedures. A Major concern is the country’s participation in the Deepwater field development space, which is the major contributor to the nations oil production. Despite the rise in the crude oil price in the past months, with countries all over the world taking advantage of this opportunity by aggressively embarking on reserve growth and field developments to ensure they derive maximum benefit (economy, job creation, etc), this high prices currently present, Nigeria has only one (1) deep offshore rig currently carrying out drilling operations, which is the SNEPco Bonga OML 118 drilling operation. Despite this challenge in the nations oil development, Bala Wunti, due to his greed, personal interest and inherent fraudulent character, is willing to frustrate this Bonga field development to the detriment of the sufferings and yelling of the nation and Nigerians in general. In an earlier petition by Concerned Citizens of Nigeria, revealed, “investigations show that on the 18th March 2022, SNEPco wrote requesting NAPIMS approval to exercise the two(2) years optional extension of the existing NNPC approved contract with OCEAN DEEP DRILING (ODNEL)/VALARIS by extending the contract duration for another two years for the provision of Deep Offshore Drilling Rig Services. The Valaris DS-10 DRILLSHIP is currently carrying out drilling operations in the Bonga field OML 118. This approval request will ensure an uninterrupted drilling activity in the field. Interestingly seven months after, NAPIMS GGM refused to approve the contract extension. From our investigation, follow up letters and phone calls to the NAPIMS GGM office failed to yield any result On account of the fact that NAPIMS supervises all the Federal Government investments in the oil and gas sector it is not in the best interest of Nigeria to continue to turn a blind eye to the rot and gargantuan abuse of office being perpetuated by the GGM. Of particular interest and concern is the offshore drilling contract awarded to TIREX Petroleum and Energy by First E&P at a cost of 100,000 dollars per day. The current regime of impunity at NAPIMS which is solely interested in massaging the interest of Bala Wunti and his array of favored companies and business fronts, short changes and imperils other local service providers within the oil sector, who are forced to be spectators. So long as BALA Wunti remains as the GGM of NAPIMS, not only will the reign of sleaze and impunity continue, but there will be little or no development and progress in the nations oil and gas sector. It is imperative and a patriotic duty that the Senate Committee on Oil and Gas must invite First E&P to explain how they got the contract in the first place and to explain the relationship between it TIREX Petroleum and Energy and Bala Wunti. The most favored in the list of companies is the company named TIREX Petroleum and Energy Limited. A lot of questions are being asked on what "is the affiliation between this company (which is under the cover of another company known as STILL EARTH) and the GGM of NAPIMS. Another company in Wunti’s portfolio of favored clients is First E & P which is registered with the CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) as an offshore oil company. A search of the CAC database reveal that Still Earth Holding Company has a number of companies with that name with a common roll of directors and share holders namely: Oluwafunmilayo Oyindamola Adeyemi, Patrick Olusegun Odegbami and Anthony Ogunlela amongst others. (See attached documents). The interesting thing is not only that Tirex Petroleum and Energy share the same directors but the same same official address. TIREX Petroleum and Energy Limited was incorporated in year 2020 and coincidentally about the same time Bala Wunti was appointed the GGM of NAPIMS. A very interesting coincidence indeed. This set up seems to be for the sole purpose of diverting projects to TIREX. Bala Wunti’s dealings with TIREX was initially predominantly around Drilling projects, but the company recently added additional product codes on NIPEX portal to take advantage of Bala's influence in diverting other non-drilling related project to her. A company that has never ever participated in any competitive tender since it was established but has been gracefully awarded several contracts that resulted from the forceful and bullying act of the GGM NAPIMS. It should be noted that the former Managing Director, John Musa resigned to protect his integrity as the illegality of Bala Wunti and Tirex became unbearable for him. Some of the information marshalled out here is not new as they have been drummed up by concerned stakeholders in the past. News sources have also drawn attention to these, which raise the question of why the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the ICPC have not commenced an investigation. Or perhaps it is true as alleged that Bala Wunti who has amassed enormous wealth over his more than three decades in the nation’s oil and gas industry, truly “has the National Assembly and the Presidency in his pocket” as has been known to brag too often. There is no doubt that the activities of Bala Wunti represent a clear and present danger to the survival of the Nigerian oil sector, if allowed to continue. This is an urgent call on the Senate to initiate a thorough investigation into the activities of Bala Wunti and his management of NAPIMS. In the action filed at the High Court of Rivers State, Port Harcourt, Prince Chibudom Nwuche (the Claimant) asserted that Refinitiv i) owes him a duty of care to ensure that the information about him in its due diligence database is complete, accurate and not misleading, ii) breached the duty of care owed to him and has been grossly negligent in the way and manner it collated the information about him on its database; iii) World Check database contains incomplete, inaccurate, and misleading information about him; iv) failed or neglected to take necessary steps to ensure the accuracy and veracity of the newspaper reports it relied on before adding his name to one its uncomplimentary and negative category; and v) has continued to maintain the incomplete, inaccurate and misleading information about him in his data even after its attention has been drawn to this via letters supported by cogent and verifiable documentary evidence. The matter is yet to be fixed for hearing. |
