sometime last year, i finally decided to do what i'd been putting off- buying a ride. I'm a cheap guy - and my budget was 600 - 700. my employer was auctioning vehcles, so i bought a pickup for n350- with the intention of upgrading. attached are pictures of the odessey. . .

what was wrong with the car -

i'm no car freak, so i'm sure my mechanic ripped me off royally

we had to tow the car home, cause we could,t get it to start.

we had to fix the engine - i forget what was wrong with it

the ac

the chair's upholstery was ripped

old tape player

broken lights

numerous dents

i intended to have some sort of cover for the bed

i also decided on guards to protect the lights when i replaced them. tailor fixed upholstery for the car




a  car tailor changed the seat upholstery

i bought a sony mp3/cd player and speakers

a welder fabricated bumpers and guards and a cover

dry cell

had to fix the factory fitted ac



i finally took possesion of the car yesterday, after over three months. the thing that really took a long time was the boot cover. i had to do a lot of brainstorming with the welder over how to effectively do this. we considered several options a box flush with the sides of the bed, a cover - what i wanted - idaelly was a detachable cover - so if i had a big cargo - i'd just remove the cover. unfortunately,  the material of the boot is steel so it weighed way too much - and i had to give up on detaching the cover. its fixed.
.i'd intended to spray the car black - but everyone was against it. eventually i settled on m etallic silver( a dangerous colour for rainy conditions)

as this is a nigerian version maybe we'll call it oybs hilux 2001 project, or 'bobo my moto' all in all i don't think i'do it again. lets hear it for nigerian content!!!!

Good job man! i like the way ur panel built the bull bars and the side steps, it only gladens my heart to know that talent abounds in our land of plenty, and day by day i always pray to God to let us realise the potentials we harbor in that country. Say, where is your panel beater located? lets have his stats maybe some people inhouse myself included might need him for a project one day.

Good work, Oyb. It's exactly what's needed on Nigerian roads, rugged, and stylish too. It's not about how much you spend, more about how determined and dedicated you are!

Some advice though - if you ever decide to change the colour, or start another project, always do what YOU want, never mind the opinion of others! You're the one who'll be driving it, so style it to your taste.

Again, it's a job well done, looks very different from the original example!

Is it a petrol or diesel? 2.4 diesel?
