a higher connected guy is asking me to partner with him so he can get the job while i do the designing and we share the profit.

The deal is quite a simple one. Have you heard anything about agreement and percentage?

All you need is to reach an agreement with the person concerned. For whatever work he gets, say your charge which you are sure will satisfy you then he can charge extra for his own pocket. If you want to share the fruit of your labour with him, then you will be loosing. For me, for any job coming through that platform, all I do is to give my bill then whoever got the job can bill extra for his own pocket then if I wish to add to it, it will be the person's gain. Reason is because I stressed to do the whole task and I don't believe I will be working all night and somebody will from nowhere come and sit to enjoy the fruit of my labour when that person is fit and capable not withstanding any situation or condition.

Based on your post, I don't think the subject of this post is right. Be that as it may, I would say listen to omnipotens. He speaks well.

I am neither of the guys you mentioned above but hope that nonetheless, my comments are useful to you.
