their hardware will go for 40k i.e HD decoder, dish, LNB and maybe cable. they also have a flat screen tv branded Daar for them that has the decoder inbuilt. comes in 32" and 42" option if you don't want wires running round your house.

Subscription would be 5k a month. pay for 3 months and get 1 month free. pay for 1 year and get 2 months free.

The guy did not however mention the bird they would be on so after the program i went to the MD of Daarsat and asked him he said it would be on intel907 which is 27.5º west. The bird trend was transmitting Nollywood from before they moved to eutelsatw4 on 36º east. He however did not give out FR, SR and TP. i guess they don't have it yet so we will have to wait. lyngsat did not list it too. maybe we can install the dish using 11052 H 12600 and constantly do a blind scan. Transmission will start 7th October according to Dokpesi with 8 channels. No premiership and champions league for now. we have to manage the usual two matches a week until next bid i.e if they can out-bid HITV.

My general conclusion is that they may be better than MYTV and DSTV medium package when they roll out but definetely no where near DSTV full bouquet. For HITV, if they don't repackage, and look beyond premiership and champions league, then they might as well close shop because Frank Nweke Jnr. would not be there to bully the right for them when it expires.

But in all Nilesat will still be the ultimate according to testimonies from this forum members. That is my destination point.

I believe this is a welcome development if properly solidified and sincerely delivered.

My Question: Is the LCD TV a part of the 40k package? Or is it an option to be paid for separately? I have colleagues who are extremely excited about the offer already. The only limitation is that the group(DAAR) is not being very explicit with information regarding the new product. The group's website is void of useful information. For me this is a turn off at this crucial stage when the launch has already taken place.

Shamas hope you can come to our aid on this and also answer the Internet bundle pre-raised questions.

Guys i have done some work for DAARSAT and i regularly get fillers on what is going on so this is the latest:

1. DAARSAT is still busy perfecting their technical delivery, customer service and getting more channels! Commercial launch is due on or b4 November 7th.

2. They now have in excess of 50 channels positioning to be appealing to all members of the family,  they literally have something for everyone from your grandmother that can't speak english to your kids wanting to become the next Jay Jay with a dedicated soccer school channel. They have also acquired some of the latest series titles released in the US on NBC network this month.

3. There are no live premiership games on the platform for now, but you can expect to see the Brazilian league, German league, French League, Turkish League, a number of top international matches including Brazil, Argentina, Portugal etc

4. You will see at least 6 premiership matches delayed the day after they are played,  it is true that it is not the same as live, but it is the next best thing for now.

5. They have now also agreed to show the MGM Channel, which Hollywood film lovers will recognise for all the Oscars the MGM studios have produced

6. This one i know say Naija go vex and e never dey confirmed but i hear say dem wan stop to dey show Nigeria International matches live for free to air television, say AIT na only delayed dem go show from now on!!! Na only Daarsat subscribers go watch Nigeria Live from now O!!!!!!!!

7. The USP of DAARSAT partnership with Visafone is not aimed at offering subscribers internet access although this is a side benefit,  it is aimed at creating a DAARSAT subscriber community which can make free calls amongst themselves all day, all night, all year for as long as they remain DAARSAT Subscribers.

I hope this information is helpful and gives a little insight into what Daarsat is offering!!!

Thanks for giving us info. This is probably the most reliable coming from a Darsat insider. However, I just have a few comments. Your company advertised 40 stations at least, you listed 39. What is the exact satellite, and transponder frequency(ies) that you guys are transmitting on. We installers and satellite TV hobyists are kind of waiting for more accurate info.It might not be a good idea if we wait too long. Remember, most of us are the foot soldiers of your course. People we install for usually ask for our recomendation, we have to have good info before recomending.

Which explanation do you want? A Pay TV that was designed to fail from the beginning. Other paytv providers advertise what they want to offer the viewing public, including type of programs, satellite they will beam from, where to get them, parameters, etc and they start cheap to attract customers/subscribers, with daarsat everything was in secrecy.

Is daar sat still in limbo? help extract info from them ooo what is happening? do they evn have any subscribers? see mony down the drain, naija buss.
