Arsenal (1) Vs Liverpool (1) Sunday 21st December by Cristalz(f): 10:14pm On Dec 16, 2008
We got a big one this weekend people.  .  .

Arsenal host Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday 21st December, 16.00 GMT. That's 5pm Nigerian time.

Arsenal haven't had a good home record so far this season, losing to A. Villa and getting a draw against Spurs some weeks ago. Their recent form isn't too impressive either. But with skilled young talent like Wilshere and Nasri available, they just might win this. Question is, will AW put these young kids out there? The usual first team strikers always seem to need some extra help.

Liverpool struggled to their third successive home league draw as Premier League new boys Hull produced another accomplished away performance for a 2-2 draw. The Scousers were well on their way to a home loss, if not for the hot foot of Captain Gerrard.
But sad news for the Scousers however.  .  .Manager Rafael Benitez will be absent from this clash as he is currently recovering from a minor operation to remove kidney stones. Benitez's absence from the club will not hamper preparations for the crucial Premier League match however, says Sammy Lee, the assistant coach.
Assistant manager Lee is running the show while Benitez recovers from the operation. (Accept our sympathies Scousers)

Arsenal are currently 5th on the table, Liverpool 1st. Can the Gunners prevail against the superb skills of Stevie Gerrard and Fernando Torres? Can Almunia hold his own?

This promises to be super people.  .  .do not miss it for anything or anybody. All spouses who are non-soccer lovers must be put on hold come Sunday grin

Highly unpredictable Gooners against a formadible Liverpool side.

To me its more of an opportunity to get closer to the scousers than to show we can beat the so called big teams.

Go u red n white army!let the points be reduced to 5 because def' Everton will play draw with Chelski and the scummies r on a fruit-less oddysey to Asia cool

Its gonna end 2-1 like the results against
utd and Chelsea, just so sad to see
thatwhen we're finally beating the top 4,
we're under performing against the lower ranked sides.
Step up Gunners!!!
Re: Arsenal (1) Vs Liverpool (1) Sunday 21st December by bgees(m): 1:41pm On Dec 17, 2008
its going to be a hard one.

liverpool fc will surely win. rafa is fit and will be on the bench against arsenal.

i would have been more scared if the match was at anfield, all i know is that we won't lose.

arsenal still have the shocking and overwhelming blow we dealt them during last seasons champions league. this is our opportunity to put the shit to bed.

arsenal 0-- liverpool 2.

thats our it will end, because the team have surely learnt from the arsenal wins against man utd and chelsea.

Re: Arsenal (1) Vs Liverpool (1) Sunday 21st December by bgees(m): 3:39pm On Dec 17, 2008
@A40,

what dubious penalty?
I think u guys should stop making us look like a dishonest team . Dont try to single us out. Afterall Arsenal and many other teams have benefited from officiating mistakes in d past, and it will continue. So stop and find other points to make. The fact is we will beat u guys on sunday with or without d help of d referee.

@ Gabychuks,

My friend, Liver'pool were way better than hull BUT they drew, ARS were far better than Hull and we lost, b4 the game against MAN U and Chelsea, they far way better in form than we Gunner, but we DESTROYED them, so what makes you think we won't Panel beat the Anfield Giants? ehen?

answer me!!!!

So you're basing this on luck/fortune/chance rather than the better team winning? Anyway, we live on hope but the odds are on a Liverpool win given the Reds away form.
And please Babel was CLEARLY dragged down by Toure who was lucky not to get sent off. In the last 5 meetings between the two clubs, Liverpool have won 2 and Drawn 3. See how Rafa has figured out Wenger's methods?

@tocdee , so what are u insinuating? an Arsenal win OR a Liverpool draw?
Re: Arsenal (1) Vs Liverpool (1) Sunday 21st December by bgees(m): 4:13pm On Dec 17, 2008
Arsenal fans should try to see other reasons why d match might end in their favour rather than focusing on their wins against chelsea and man utd.
Beating chelsea and man utd does'nt mean u'll escape liverpool.
Re: Arsenal (1) Vs Liverpool (1) Sunday 21st December by allboyz(m): 4:20pm On Dec 17, 2008
@bgees :::

the PAST is the reason why we are here and what we do today is what gonna tell on the future, u may be right though, so we have to look at what we have with Chelsea and Man U and strategies on the game against L'pool.

Cheers

grin grin grin Judging by those options, you really don't want Arsenal to lose. All I'm saying is that Liverpool is better placed to win especially if they succeed in stretching Arsenal by utilizing the flanks. We know Arsenal's wide men are out injured and Rafa's tactical mind would have noticed this. In Riera, Dossena/Aurelio, Arbeloa, the Reds have players who just love hugging the line. Denilson and Eboue will have lots of running to make in unnatural positions to them. Also when you look at both midfields, you'll have to admit that a central partnership between Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano can beat ANY other in the world.

However, with Torres injured, Babel on the bench and Keane not hitting top form, Arsenal shades Liverpool in the attacking department.

I think Liverpool will win.

By the way, Cristalz; Keep up the good presentation of pre-match hype. Makes pre, in and post-game comments interesting. Kudos!
