Obama is for United States as Thatcher was for the United Kingdom by http://www.studencia.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=117:my-take-on-the-world-as-i-see-it-vol2&catid=99:skylark&Itemid=164

Now I must very carefully state here that I am very happy Obama became president of the United States, in fact I was up throughout the election broadcast and very emotional I got too. Therefore examine my views and comments carefully before flying off on a “pro that and pro this expedition”.

Now Barrack Obama, first black president of the United States, damn America is the future. Well not quiet, let’s not forget that as one of the super power nations in Europe and the world over, United Kingdom was the first to trust a woman to lead them (did I hear you say what about India?) that country is emerging now but then it was not really competing on a world stage, nevertheless as aforementioned India is coming up fast.

Thatcher and her party came to power because they had tested policies, solid manifesto, campaigned hard and most importantly deserved to win; their victory was not based on the fact that the country was in turmoil. Although labour was not fulfilling major part of its promises (curb unions, economic woes etc) however things were not as bad as they had degenerate to in the United States.

Joyfully, along came George W Bush with his astonishingly retarded policies and his blurred vision of direction with a dose of fantastic stupidity. He was able to conjure up some messy actions, need I inform anyone of his irrational steps toward quelling terrorism worldwide. He could have taken a cue from the phrase it’s the economy stupid! But instead squandered tax payers’ hard earned monies on shaping the world and fighting the enemy.

George W Bush allowed the citizens of America the opportunity to vest their trust in firstly, a woman and secondly, a black man (please lets skip McCain for now). This was how bad the state of things was in America to the extent that a black man was looked at for lights at the end of the tunnel. Obama hammered home the word CHANGE constantly in all his campaigns because he knew what was going on and how tired the Americans were of the Bush doctrine.

Therefore the only hope here is CHANGE and change on issues like the WAR in IRAQ, health and finally the economy (stupid!). The United Kingdom can be said to have been there done that simply because they have heralded CHANGE back in 1979 simply by allowing a woman to run their affair and actually its not the first time they have been doing this. It dates back to centuries (Queen Elizabeth)

Therefore let us mellow on the hullaballoo, America is merely trailing the UK when it comes to pace setting. Nevertheless The United Kingdom can still learn a lesson or two from its most trusted “ally” in the shape of giving more political opportunities to deserving minorities and letting go of that grip on the “founding father or colonial master status”.

As for the minorities in the United Kingdom, we have to empower ourselves accordingly by ensuring that we are seen and heard at the appropriate time and not sit and moan about this and that.

Then again the fact still remains, I do not see a black PM in the UK even in a century to come, and the cliché will always be “they are not ready yet or how dare you…” or do YOU think we are ready to rule the UNITED KINGDOM! Well if you think we are then check out when the BBC and Paxman caricatured our potentiality by asking DIZZIE RASCAL about our prospects! Although he was pitched alongside Baroness Amos so that makes it soothing.

My opinion is this, let’s acquire all these knowledge (from the west that is) and impact it positively on our respective countries rather than fight for a mantle that s is not YOURS.

How can Obama be equal to Thatcher? What has Obama done? Thatcher is a GIANT amongst leaders. Obama would be happy if he could match half of her achievement.

Simply put, Obama is on a 'houseboy' mission. After Bush came and played the cowboy in the White House (now Black), Obama is now sent in to do the clean-up.

Usually, the republicans come and have a party, mess things up and the democrats do the cleaning.

As far as I am concerned, Obama isn't Black, until I see a full blooded african-american would I agree that America has gotten there. But with Obama, its a step.

Meanwhile, we cannot compare Obama and Thatcher since he is just beginning. The comparison can be done at the end of his first and current term in office. Gbam!!

My post is to help, My opinion is this, let’s acquire all these knowledge (from the west that is) and impact it positively on our respective countries rather than fight for a mantle that s is not YOURS. You guys are always putting people down. Why not find a way to collaborate and make the country better. The politicians have failed everyone but it is GOD that own us. If you all believe in him you will receive more than any politician can give. Japan economy was down after world war 2. It was not the politician that revive the economy but the people. Nigeria is a great country with the most important resources the west need people.
