e be like say, MEND don begin strategy of lie lie. i no fit blame dem, any propaganda wey go help person, na him de person go do na, ko kwa?

Controversy raged yesterday over the claim by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), one of the militant groups operating in the nation’s oil producing areas that it had attacked a major pipeline belonging to Chevron and Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) at Abonema, Rivers State.

MEND had in a statement yesterday said that it has resumed its hostilities in the Niger Delta region where a Shell facility was hit, but both the oil company and the Joint Task Force (JTF) dismissed the report. Shell and JTF said no such attack occurred in the area.
MEND said its fighters, armed with rocket launchers and machine guns, carried out a "warning strike" overnight on a Royal Dutch Shell or Chevron pipeline in Abonemma.

The group accused the government of using the ill health of President Umaru Yar'Adua, who has been in Saudi Arabia for more than three weeks receiving treatment for a heart condition, to stall negotiations promised as part of the amnesty programme.

Well, I am glad it is likely a ruse. I read the men already get their 65K a month( piece of the loot) maybe electronically wired to them too, so what would make them start over again?

Due to the poor investigative capabilities of the Nigerian Press, we will not be able to know if the statement by MEND is true or a ruse

ruse or no ruse, when the crude production of Nigeria drops, then the ruse will become reality.Where is Yar'Adua, they told us that he is not very sick, let him come back. When what we are asking for comes to Nigeria then we begin to tell ourselves the truth.

I beg it should just be a ruse. For the development of this country, let there be ceasefire. For the recovery of Yaradua, let there still be cease fire, I beg my Niger Delta Brothers.

oh,is the recovery of Yar'Adua tied to MEND's attacks. That man is beyond recovery. Why are Nigerians so daft.A man has kidney problems compounded by a heart disease. If even he recovers,Nigeria's woes will make him sicker.
