There have been threads on unemployment in Nigeria, the causes and the poor attention given to unemployment by the Nigerian Government.

The interest of this thread is to look at the other side of the coin of unemployment - Job Creation.

It will be appreciated if we focus on private and corporate sector strategies to create jobs. The driving spirit should be fueled by the words - If the Nigerian Government will not make a way for us, Nigerians can make one for Nigerians.

Let brain storm on this creatively. you can post a problem and the likely solutions to the problem. If at all you want to bring in the government, it should be on how to hand twist the government to perform.

I want to appeal to all contributors to keep their emails subscribed to this thread so as to be updated. Nigeria and Nigerians are too talented to be suffering this degenerating level of unemployment. God can use people to help people.

Lets begin please.

I want us to borrow from free/open source software strategy of the information technology world. A lot of softwares have been made by individuals and group and these softwares have been made available free of charge to the public. What has been the effect? Many businesses have been able to exploit these open and free source softwares. The result has been drastic reductions in cost of operation and increase in business startups.

Can this strategy be employed in developing business opportunities? Cost of startups has been one of the barriers to establishment. Can't some of the cost of establishment be reduced by collective contribution in kind and not in cash?

An engineer that very good with designs can offer to design a viable plant for free. Other may choose to offer their time to do one or more things to set up the plant and then at the end that plant could hire people for production. The contributors to the development of that plant can be proud of helping humanity. Not only that, it will add to their reference in career and life.
It need not be a plant alone. it could be anything.

Lets come up with views for creating job opportunities please.

Thanks for your response.

The option of self employment has been offers for job creation so many times. But self employment over the years has not been of much help in our current deplorable unemployment situation. capital, business ideas and the right strategy to operate startup have been assets that no one man have it all.

Against this back ground, can we still look to self employment? is it a meaningful option for a solution to Nigeria's unemployment situation?

You views are welcomed. lets think of creative solutions please. Lets think and re-think. Its a brain storming thread.
