Yar’Adua recovers, may return to office soon
•Embraces mum, meets close family relations

From Alvan Ewuzie and Emmanuel Adeyemi [Lokoja]
Thursday, April 22, 2010

Ailing President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua sprang a surprise on the nation last night when he came down from his room upstairs at the presidential villa in Aso Rock. Daily Sun exclusively gathered that the President, for the first time since he was brought back into the country, visited his study room at about 7.30pm last night and was expected to stay there until about 10pm. He was still there as the time of filing this report.

‘For the first time, the President saw and recognised his mother when he came down. He was excited and embraced the woman’, said our source.
Details were rather scanty but Daily Sun learnt that members of his immediate family have been overjoyed since the sudden development and are said to have been on the telephone calling up as many people as they could to report the pleasant news.

It was not, however, clear whether the President, who was evacuated from the country on November 23, last year for treatment in Saudi Arabia, was now healthy enough to return to the seat of power at the presidency.
There had been speculations in the past fortnight that the President was recuperating, prompting his family to give access to selected clerics to see him.

The Muslim clerics, who saw him on Good Friday, preceded a select group of Christian clerics, who had visited on Easter Monday. We gathered that the selective audience being granted were aimed at staving off impeachment moves and give him a continued stake on power until he recovers completely.

Hints about President Yar’Adua’s imminent return was given earlier yesterday by his cousin, Architect Ahmed Yar’Adua, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of National Inland Waterways, while speaking to Correspondents. He emphatically said his cousin was recuperating fast and would soon return to office.
However, it was not clear immediately whether he would resume official duties promptly.

Presidency officials contacted declined comments on the development, refusing to disclose whether they had been told about any imminent return to office. Yesterday’s development, Daily Sun learnt, was a sharp contrast to the reports of some of the clergy, who gave the impression that Yar’Adua’s recovery would take an outlandish miracle to come to fruition. They reported that Yar’Adua stared blankly as they prayed for him and were not too sure if he recognised their presence or even responded to their prayers.

Architect Yar’Adua expressed the imminent return of his cousin yesterday while fielding questions from members of the Correspondents chapel, who visited him in his office. He also expressed satisfaction with the level of work on the ongoing dredging o f the River Niger and said, at least, 60 percent of the job had been completed while the first lap of the dredging was expected to end by the second quarter of this year.

He disclosed that his organisation, in collaboration with some private investors, was gearing efforts towards the provision of ferry services along Onitsha - Warri waterways to enhance transportation of goods from the riverine areas.

Answering a question on the ferry services between Shintaku-Ganaja waterway, the NIWA boss said his organisation was already fine-tuning ways to restore the ferry services to aid transportation of the communities in the affected area.

He expressed hope that commercial activities within Lokoja and its environs would soon increase when the dredging is finally completed and urged communities along the coastal areas to continue to co-operate with the contractors.

DAILY SUN is Nigeria's most useless paper for reporting this kind of rubbish!!

First and foremost, the article is an annoying repeat of all the failed attempts the Yar Adua cabal keeps using to maintain any form of relevance.

Secondly, even if Yar Adua comes back and and is strong enough to knock out Mike Tyson in a boxing duel, he will never ever ever ever ever ever ever be accepted as Nigeria's president ever again. Yar Adua is History. And the Cabal should get that in their brains and spare Nigerians all these theatricals.

You can't be right about that, every day, i pray for the speedy recovery of President Yar Adua, when he eventually returns, i'd be very happy that day . . . You kinda show a little of man's inhumanity to humanity . . . i wouldn't be dumb to totally rule the fact that President Yar Adua can also contest and win the 2011 election, This is Nigeria, Impossibility is Nothing . . .

I said it that there is no other reason the PDP( people's devil party) is still keeping Yaradua as the president, other than to curtail Jonathan actions. We wont be surprised Yaradua being brought on a willchair the day Jonathan make a move against any loyal member of this devil's party.

Guys, i blame you all for even responding to this piece of synthetic news (myself inclusive). Kosovo, please tell the cabal ( cos it appears u have a thing going on with them) that d only proof that yaradua is even alive is summarised in these three lines.
1. Goodluck should be allowed to see Yaradua
2. Yaradua should physically address the national assembly
3. Yaradua should physically address the nation
And all should be telecast live ( of course not by BBC). Then and only then will Nigeria take yaradua's soap opera serious. PLEASE ENOUGH OF ALL THIS FABRICATED-JOURNALIST-INDUCED NEWS!

grin grin Illogical nonsense . Given what Yar Adua has put Nigeria through , and even accounting for how ours is a nation where the impossible can happen, I doubt Yar Adua would be allowed to just stroll back into a position he has been out of for 5 months due to very serious health challenges.

Our lawmakers may be the most compromised on earth but , with the eyes of the world on them over their  disgraceful previous dithering, I doubt that Yar Adua will recieve the "bow and go" treatment anytime soon even if he plays squash for two hours at the national stadium!!!! He will have to prove his robust health with a comprehensive medical work-up before he is allowed back as President otherwise there is no guarantee that Nigeria will not be plunged into chaos again with Yar Adua's next bout of ill-health.

I also pray He recovers, but I pray even more that he never returns as president of this country. First for the good of the country, then for his own good.
Sometimes I sympathise with him, but anytime I remember the kind of people he surrounded himself with, I shudder and ask, What kind of man would have a wife and friends so evil that they would stop at nothing to use your ill health to play power games evn when it brings you no benefit!

When he gets well he can go and rule his village in Katsina.

For crying out loud, Daily sun should please relocate their printing press to IBB's Minna mansion!

6 months straight? I won't be surprised if this is true because when I think of how a man is allowed to walk away for this long, and 6 months later, he is still being rewarded for abandoning post without regard for the people. His Acting deputy is not even willing to ensure that rule of law is followe to date. Makes me wonder if there is much we will not allow.

This story is story o, i heard that Elvis, Maman Shata and MJ have been invited for his get well party this weekend.

PS: Does it matter really who rules this dump of a country ? It seems no matter how oppression of poor man continues. Do you know we were kept in a hold up cos security operatives stopped traffic 10 mins before Jonathan even passed the junction near Wu Bassey Barracks ?
GOD DEY

One quick question. . . . .actually two -

- does any Sun newspaper reporter live in the same building that Yar-Adua is being housed in?

- Why is it that no other paper picked this story?

My two pesos - Most of the journalists in this country shld learn how to make reports and not try to fool Nigerians again

Its funny the way Nigeria is. Too much corruption. The sun newspaper only captured the degree of the decay. The sun newspaper is grossly corrupt. Simple.
