Don't let the patriotic Nigerians get you.

Make dem dey come.

sley4life:

these ladies play better than Yakubeaf

Yakubu is already a Nigerian "27".

At that age (i.e. the Nigerian one), it is very difficult to run and be energetic for 90 mins. Those are 2 traits common with youthfulness. Youthfulness is not a description of a Nigerian football 27 year old.

Wait till this "U-17s" reach 27 too. They will not be able to run too as it is almost certain some would be grandmothers as their offsprings too would already be breeding.  undecided

When Germany scored 10-1, na U-17, when Nigeria scored 5-0, na U-25 why why Naija
Becoz Nigeria has become so bad that even many Nigerians believe nothing good could ever come out of it.
And you see this same group of people with such mentality fighting when they are being address as a 419ner, criminals by other people. The believe that every Nigerian player cheats on their age, mostly when they performed better, but if foreigner calls them scammers or a cheats based on their believe that Nigerians are cheats and scammers they gets angry, even might want to fight. Their next arguement will be, that Nigeria is bad does not mean there are not good once. That is to tell you they are the only good and perfect once in Nigeria no matter how bad Nigeria is.

Nigerian mentality!!!  undecided

What a serious mentality.

And it will be THESE SAME people that will come and complain when they hear that a Nigerian local government chairman looted $1m.

Why shouldn't he loot?

To the local government chairman, everyone else is stealing so why should he not steal? If he does not steal it, someone else would, so why not him instead? grin

Then after the local government chairman has stolen, who has the guts to tell a policeman not to engage in his own looting from checkpoints when he is being paid peanuts due to most funds being looted? The same corrupt leaders?

Followers and leaders have the same mentality.

I keep on saying it, and I will keep on saying it, I see no difference between the average Nigerian and their leaders. Majority of the followers are cheats and then complain about their cheating leaders. The country has a sick mentality that needs overhauling. undecided

I have come to accept Nigeria will always ''age-cheat'' in football. The system encourages it. . .Coaches, Administrators, parents etc. My problem is Nigerian footballers don't cheat with sense. Cutting off 10yrs+ from their real ages is INSANE haba! It makes them/us look ridiculous and appear very foolish. . . .the max any player should cut in his age shouldn't be more than 5years IMO.

During the T&T match, the commentator mentioned the ages of the players occasionally. Most of the T&T players were 16+ and were going to be 17 later this year. . . .infact there was even a T&T player whose age was mentioned as 17 by the commentator. . .all these despite their smaller stature and looking physically less mature & developed as the Nigerian players. The smallest player on the pitch was the T&T goalie, Linfah Jones and guess what?. . .she's 16yrs.

When it came to the Nigerian players, there was no single 16yrs old as all of them (claimed to be) were 14 and 15 yrs olds. . .how RIDICULOUS! Infact, I got annoyed when the commentator kept talking about how young the Nigerian players were and how most of them will still be elligible to play in the next edition of the U-17 competition in 2 yrs time. IMO, none of those girls is less than 22/23. The smartest thing for them to have done was to claim 16yrs+, the maximum age allowed for the competition. It's ridiculous for Loveth Ayila, Ngozi Okobi, Winifred Eyebohiria, Akinbiyi (the big tall central defender), Ofoegbu, Ordega, Nnodim etc to claim to be 15yrs. Wetin be the name of the girl wey get small face &long neck and played at Left back in our 1st 2 matches and right back against Chile? That one dey claim 14yrs.can you imagine? Even  that ''short'' & ''stocky'' girl (can't remember her name but she's Yoruba and plays for Sunshine queens) who came in as the last substitute for us in the Chile match dey claim 14? OMG! Laugh wan kill me die! Like Terry tha Rapman go talk, ONLY FOR NAIJA!

Finally, lets all be happy they won afterall fielding overage players is not a guarantee of winning a football match but lets not try and defend the INDEFENSIBLE. Our girls are definitely not U-17. We're Nigerians and we know ourselves.

@ Sagamite
I saw the pics of teams you posted. The South Africans are not U-17's IMO.

South Americans, Asians (with their baby faces) and some Eastern European countries also ''age-cheat''. Only the North American (Canada & USA especially) and Western European Countries do not age-cheat in my book.

By the way, the German team in this competition just like @ the last U-19 world cup have taller, bigger and physically more mature players than teams from other European Countries. I know about the accurate record keeping that obtains in most European Countries and how all births are logged & recorded, but to me, it's either the germans are eating something that other Europeans don't eat OR they're been pumped with some steroids/growth hormones OR they're ''age cheating'' too. I'm inclined towards the last option. What say you?

Please allow me to retort:

We are talking about a national culture and practicing of cheating without shame to represent the nation, with the full knowledge and maybe encouragement of officials, and then you bring an example of individuals that have cheated, and that makes sense to you?

And please, kindly refrain from posting in text English when addressing or engaging with me. I hate it with a passion higher than the one a fat kid has for ice cream. Thanks.

Honestly, I don't blame the players as I will not condemn too much anyone trying to avoid hunger. If I was in their position, most likely I would not think twice about it.

The people I blame are the moronic, unprincipled, swines in the coaching crew and NFF that should be stamping it out but are most likely colluding in engaging in it.

And I partially blame a public that cheer such cheating without shame, willing to engage in any ruthless, unprincipled activities to feel glory despite knowing the truth and then also propagating that the government must reward the cheats abundantly.

Possibly the South Americans may be cheating, I don't know much about their record keeping. The Asians, it depends on which countries you are talking about. Not a country like South Korea or Singapore or Malaysia that have record keeping.

Mate, the NATIONAL average height of German women is 5ft 5". This is very close to that of average height of Nigerian men.

I have been to the country several times. They are usually tall. So it is not a shock it is reflected in their football teams.

Thanks man, posts like this give hope.
When we sell our compatriots and nation cheaply (like some clowns that are laughing at the pictures of the brave ladies), we invariably sell ourselves cheaply.  We better wake up from such myopia and look at the bigger picture.

Nigeria is not sick, nor are we a nation of cheats. A few hopeless people who want to infect others with their hopelessness are often times the ambassadors of this fallacy of hasty generalisation.

Aside from endemic hopelessness, slowpokes and ignoramus have a few other characteristics in common. They are often quick to open their mouths and blab about what they know little or nothing of. They are quick judge people on the basis of little information, and draw para-logical conclusions (which often includes writing off the whole). They tend to believe that they are very intelligent and are always right. They are alas often stuck with observations and conclusions reached several decades ago (learning is often a problem). Those who don't agree with their myopia are openly intimidated, bullied to submission or assaulted. To them everyone is bad (perhaps because of their own perfidious nature). They are often hopeless drifters, and never see any good in others. They are quick to associate/compare other people with their little minded, less illustrious mentors and fellow voyagers (e.g Alao Akala, Adedidu, Chris Uba, ibori) You will never see people in this group praise hardworking people like (Fashola, Osaze, Siasia).  They are often times failures in real live, hence their quickness to undermine successful people, with their powerful gift of PHD (Pull Him Down).

These are the kind of people my mother (of blessed memory) warned me not to associate with.

Ffed up mentality, self-deluding foooool!

I have seen (highlighted) all the evidences of your superior intelligence, and logic. To say forumers even gives you a pat on the back for this level performance say so much about the kind of people that surround you.

I checked your profile, and I saw the title 'moderators' (sic) and I now I begin to wonder how low this forum has sunk. Why this sort of 'superior intelligence' loose cannons are running all over the place with such exalted privilege. I now know why. Some of these kind of people have made Nairaland their nation, and are like sit-tight governors/political office holders (the same people they antagonise daily.) Take away this privilege and they may soon find out that they have no other life. So they hold on tight to what they have, and see dissenting views as a threat. I come not friend to steal your positions!

By the way, those without national pride are often wrapped in national disgrace. The last time I checked, that company is dwindling. A few hopeless people would soon find themselves isolated. Now my friend of very superior intelligence, go and play with or bully your mates (or get your brain recharged as you yearn).  I don't mostly tango with glorified cyber thugs.
