Nigeria, Iran Game Called Off by honeric01(m): 12:52pm On Nov 15, 2010
Wednesday's international friendly match between Nigeria and Iran has been called off by Nigeria.

The game was scheduled to take place in Tehran on Wednesday, but Nigeria officials told KickOffNigeria.com that the unavailability of key players for the Super Eagles due to injuries has prompted the cancellation.

Both countries have also been involved in a diplomatic tiff following an arms shipment that landed at a Nigerian port, with the shipping company claiming the arms came from Iran.

It is a charge that Iran have denied.

It means new Nigeria coach Samson Siasia will not get a chance to look at his team before he takes over on December 1.

from the day one, i have been questioning the rationale behind the match between nigeria and iran.
why iran of all countries of this world?
this to me was going to be a between between an established terrorist country and intending terrorist company.
good for us that the game is not holding and let it not ever hold anytime in the future

Good one. i see no friendliness in a match with a country that shipped bombs into our shores to destabilise the country. useless ayatolla people.

I wonder if it was the past regime (LULU) that scheduled this game. We need to schedule quality friendlies with quality teams and make use of FIFA free days and all. Lets get a match against Spain, Italy, or even Egypt. Lets host the USA or Uruguay at home for once.

typical nigerians just blaming nff for no reason. first of all whats wrong with playing iran in a friendly didn't brazil just played them last month so playing iran is no problem. now anybody that have not heard the trouble between nigeria and iran is stupid how can we play them right now that there is tension between the two countries for the excuse what do you expect nff to say "oh we are cancelling the friendly because iran send bomb come naija" so fifa can say government interferance omo before i thought this nff would be the same as the last one but no they are starting on a good path they need our believe lets support them and not critisize them for any reason.

^^^Your post seems rather typical.

Brazil can play anyone. They are the ones people even want to "open" their stadium, like the one in ABUJA, and would pay the Brazilians $$$$ to do so.

We, on the other hand, have a sorry azz team, or rather, had a sorry azz team before the new changes here and there, and part of the problem is the lack of quality friendlies. When other countries have a comprehensive program to ensure success (including utilizing free days to play) we on the other hand, are playing Bosnia or Colombia, and often have to cancel the match, and waste opportunities to try formations and players.

You should actually spend time reading what the news is saying before writing like a child. Iran did not send bomb come Naija. Naija intercepted bombs that originated from Iran.

Plus, this is soccer, where N Korea plays against S Korea, USA plays against Iran or China, Argentina plays against England.

Cancel against Iran, fine, get us another country to play shyt

ODE!!!

Are you 12large, abi 12 years-old?  Complacent Naija man. "We don't need to play elite teams", because we have to go and kaka for toilet?

If your life is miserable, then there's nothing I can do or am willing to do to help ya pal!

You said there is "tension" between the two countries? So we are going to war? Yippy!!!

BTW, there's a difference between 9ja intercepting weapons from Iran and Iran sending weapons to 9ja. I know in your small brain it seems to be the same thang Mr. Man, but its not shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Hint: MEND (from 9ja) sends weapons to Sudan and Naija gov't sends weapons to Sudan- U SEE  cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

I repeat, we need quality matches and that starts now.

Don't attempt to anger men's dept

NONSENSE

shut up we don't need quality matches now. what we need currently is average or small teams so we can test the new young players that siasia is likely to parade in 1year time we would be ready for the big boys why play brazil and spain now that we are still getting awake from sleep
Re: Nigeria, Iran Game Called Off by aieromon(m): 8:35am On Nov 16, 2010
We don't need to argue over this. The match was bound not to take place.I expected the football body to have looked for an alternative if they have ''diplomatic'' issues. This is not helpin' at all.
We should stop playin' low teams during international friendly days.

^^^
Is ur team better than the low teams?

Na, according to 12large we need small teams like Haiti to play because we must do everything patch patch in Nigeria. France finished behind us in the last WC, but guess who they are playing, as well as Argentina who has a new coach.

See what this olodo is saying below

I'm glad that at least the coach is already looking for a medal game for the WC in Brasil, whereas small minds like you are still stuck in mediocrity.

Children as usual
