Amaechi Visits Communal Clash Areas

Rivers Barely hours after inaugurating a Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the B-Dere/K-Dere crisis in Gokana Local Government Area, of Rivers State, the State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has visited the area to assess the extent of damage to property.  Amaechi, who visited the warring communities alongside the Brigade Commander of 2 Brigade, Bori Camp and the state Commissioner of Police, used the opportunity to warn communities in the state not to destroy any government project sited in their communities under any guise.  He blamed both communities for unleashing untold hardship on their neighbours, stressing that there was nothing to gain in the destruction of one another’s property. While urging them to refrain from causing more harm to one another, Amaechi appealed to those who had fled their homes in the wake of the violent clashes to return as there has been heavy deployment of security personnel to restore normalcy in the area.
