I'm with you on this. People should stop making up stories and provide evidence,

@poster- the riots are over? where exactly? the update i have from my cousins in KD is that situation is still dire there. there are taking turn in vigilante work. I understand the soldiers are manning the roads whereas the northern touts are gaining access to places through the bush. they have been calling on all youths to join in the fight. I was also informed by that some of them have been given khakis and its difficult differentiating them from the real soldiers. the boys are scared looking for every means to protect themselves. We are dead worried here and people are here making stories that Buari has addressed these hoodlums!! Absolutely preposterous.

It`s so unfortunate that we inherited a Nigeria that was founded on hypocrisy. This hypocrisy between the North and South may never end.

Re: The Unrest Is Over - North Pacified by nwaghana: 3:28pm On Apr 19, 2011
So much noise about the man 'Buhari'. Is this the way he was going to govern Nigeria? To send almajeris from one section of the country against law abiding citizens from another section of the country? Did the women and children who are being persecuted over there rig elections? Why are they setting church buildings on fire? were the elections rigged inside the churches? Don't people have freedom of conscience to vote who they like? It is obvious that almajeris are ignorant and don't have minds of their own, so it is not entirely their fault. It is the fault of Buhari. It is also the fault of Bakere who has not distanced himself from Buhari and his church-burning and blood-sucking almajeris

We condemn ANY and EVERY form of violence. We lost elections in 2003 and 2007 and went to court. We WILL NEVER resort to violence. We ask that all our supporters and all Nigerians to remain peaceful and law abiding citizens of Nigeria. GOD Bless Nigeria and Nigerians, General Muhammadu Buhari

His main rival, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, a northerner, told the BBC the violence was sad, unwarranted and criminal.

Some of the rioters have been alleging ballot-rigging, but the former military leader said he wanted to disassociate himself and his party from the clashes.

"In the last 24 hours, there has been a spate of violence in the country: this has included the burning of churches and is a sad, unfortunate and totally unwarranted development," he said in a statement.

"I must emphasise that what is happening is not ethnic, religious or regional."

Why are you so entranced with Buhari? Did he tell them to start the violence? The same thing happened in 1993 when the elction was annuled, they took to the

streets in the South west burning things, and Abiola never condemned it.  Buhari described it as  sad, unwarranted and criminal if that is not enough for you, then go jump inside PACIFIC OCEAN.

And on Jonathan, Nigeria will experience another 4 wasted years of leadership because he lacks the requisite values, confidence and skills to make any meaningful changes.

Jonathan win only achieved one goal, that the northern born to rule clique has finally ended their monopoly of leadership in this country!

But a Jonathan presidency is a wasted opportunity because he is corrupt and weak! For Nigeria to progress it wants to stop corruption, recover stolen wealth and destroy nepotism. Jonathan, his family, associates and clique is actually part of the problem so he cannot act on it and risk implicating himself.

Jonathan cannot implement major changes to the economy because he himself is in need of reform and rehabilitation, he does not know what it means and where to start! He will make announcements about building new infrastructure but most of the money will go toward graft, theft and mis management.

Jonathan cannot bring about change in violence in the Niger Delta because he is closely linked to it and his support base comes from the perpetrators of the violence.

Jonathan cannot stop the cold blooded murder of christians in Northern Nigeria because he is powerless over the cabal at the heart of it, he cannot confront them or use his military to do it because he is a soft hearted fool with no strength to enforce anything.

Jonathan will be recorded in history as the weakest Nigerian head of state since Aguyi Ironsi and Ernest Shonekan!

I'm sorry to say this but poster you are peddling falsehood or at best you have been fed grievously wrong information. As at late noon yesterday the military was out in force but that didn't stop blood thirsty religious-ethnic bigoted marauders from actually trying to sneak into attack people living at the outskirts of southern neighbourhoods  at exactly 0300 hours this morning .I spoke with my folks all through the rest of the night .
It took the alertness of people who were  on watch and armed to put the  warning/signal out before the police took control.
Do not let anybody deceive you nobody in my parents area (nomansland)is standing down.
Sorry about my typo I'm mobile.

I saw Seun's comment ealier and I was going to post the link as a reply, but I couldn't get on to post for a while, apart from Buhari's rejection of violence yesterday, that news has been up for a while on BBC.

And who says the unrest is completely over?
Many are still not in their houses (though the soldiers and police are on ground).
You will be amazed to know that a neighbour of mine was shot in the head and others killed by "police men" who were now proved to be fake police men.
So how can we trust ALL the security operatives on ground?
Just this morning, some hausas were reported to be loading their guns with bullets, preparing for God knows what.

you are kidding right? in this day and age you can still write this? Buari on BBC, do the hoodlums supporting him even have access to BBC? What reasonable Nigerians like myself are saying is that he should come out live and address his supporters and ask them to cease killing innocent victims. he should assure them that he will fight the results through the law courts (he should appeal to their conscience), That’s what makes sense - they hear him directly not through BBC whose reach is very minimal to say the lease. I'm sorry if i come across as rude but i believe if you have family members at risk in the north, you wouldn’t come to this forum to tell us all is dandy and his interview with BBC is sufficient.
