It’s unfair how many pastors these days only set up evangelism to populate their churches but not for the kingdom. It’s even terrible how they choke the members with so many programmes, almost spanning all the days of the week, so as to keep members in their churches for tithe, numerous offerings and contributions, such that the members have little or no time to plan their lives and their families or even time to use for The God they claim to serve. The Bible says that those who know their God shall be strong and will do exploits, but it’s unfortunate that many pastors are no longer teaching members or so called workers to know God, but only teaching them to abide by the doctrines of their own ministries or denominations.

You are very correct !

People are looking for church members not jesus followers.

If someone comes to your church that is great but you should not force him or her.

Also the programmes aspect is spot on, when you combine your work schedule with church programmes spanning the whole week it is difficult to see how much real time christians can fellowship with GOD !!!

Excellent observations!

I'm beginning to doubt that many of these pastors believe most of what they preach. If they do, they'd give church members enough space to practice what they're being taught. Instead, they keep piling on messages and programs with little room for members to demonstrate them. They appear to enjoy hearing themselves talk and watching people watch them perform on stage. If they want to be taken more seriously than is currently the case, they should minimize these endless programs and institute a process of measuring the effect of their teaching on members' lives. For instance, if you teach on prosperity, how many members prospered this year by measurable standards? And of those that claimed to have prospered, how much of that wealth is directly attributable to God, as opposed to stealing, drug-pushing, 419, public corruption, private connections, quality education, etc. Same with health and healing, godliness, etc.

Yeah, it's no longer passion for souls. It's passion for growing a private empire!

I think the thing is - the "examples" worked! They had jobs, businesses and other concerns. They were true in the sense that the Gospel was a portion that they chose to do "pro bono" yet make more important than secular activities (we believe)!

The lazybones today does nothing else and to justify his sorry existence, has to be seen to be busy! How better than to make church the start and end; the be-all of his laity's existence? He has nothing else to do since he is slovenly, lax and jobless so he needs the congregation to vcome in 2ce daily (if possible) so he can function.

The real joke is the witless bozo who believes 18 church attendances weekly is his "godly" service
