Having recently acquired my dream, EOD 03,I ran into the minor issues
not unexpected as a first time owner and i did what the average nairalander will do.
i ran,tail-between-legs
to my dearest nl,only to be surprised there,s no single thread dedicated to addressing
something as ubiquitous as the honda car

pl kindly help with this prob,my car a 2003 EOD,vibrates whenever am on high speed
i usually observe this whenever i go above 14okm/h.
At speeds below this point,the drive is smooth
i was told by a colleague that i have to do the alignment+wheel balancing,
is that the case?

well cant really say, my camry started something almost similar when I started bothering about alloy wheels etc, I never succeeded in getting a permanent cure for the balancing. - Whence it was steel rims 195/70 rim 14, it drove smoothly.

sometimes its important to get the factory recommended tyre sizes etc,

one final question for today
which engine oils are good for servicing a manual tranny EOD?
I gave mine to a mech and he poured "ABRO ATF TYPE A"
i got it back a day later and the check engine light has since been on
in about a week the oil has turned very dark

now bought a Mobil Oil much praised by guys here.
its written xhp and 20-50w on it,planned to replace the ABRO with the mobil tomoro morn

you need to be careful with the type of oil you use for your Honda auto transmission. The manufacturer recommended transmission fluid for your car is HTF Z1. This may be purchased from Honda place or we get it for you. Using a different fluid other than this could damage your gearbox.

I hope you dont intend to use the Mobil XHP oil in your gearbox as this is actually meant for engines. Its an engine oil not an automatic transmission fluid. Pls do not use this for your gearbox.

of course i dont intent using it for the gear,the only reason i made any reference to the
transmission was to give a better description of the car in question.ie manual and not the relatively more
common automatic

i intend draining the engine oil myself and replacing the oil, could you put me thru on how/what to
open under the engine?(ie in order to release the expired oil)

as regards vibration at high speeds.

Take this to a good service centre.


The usual suspect is the alignment/wheel alignment thing.


but then (if that doesn't solve the prob) you can look at your low arms and other parts that generally go btw the wheels and tyres.



And to all Accord Auto Transmisssion Users (especially the US models).

Never, I repeat, Never change your transmission fluid with any other type except the ATF Z1.

Concerning the ATF, Since i bought my 03 EOD, I've been using the Ambro ATF Oil and it has never given me any issues. Just yesterday i noticed the oil had dried off and the Drive light started blinking, But wud be toping the oil 2day and am sure it wud get back to its use again.

MAJOR ISSUES WITH EOD CARS THAT NEEDS TO BE DISCUSSED.

THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I feel this is the major sickness with this kind of honda cars. Yesterday i was at ladipo trying to fix my own pump issues, lo and behold i met other 12 guys with the same issues with same kind of cars and we were all moving around looking for someone good enough to fix the pump issue. We met with someone yesterday who we booked an appointment for today to fix it for us. Am already on my way there cos na first come first serve.

Lets get this right. If your car is a manual transmission, what did your mechanic use the Abro ATF for? Did he use it as engine oil? ATF is abreviated Automatic Transmission Fluid and im trying to cross reference it with your decision to replace with Mobil XHP which is an engine oil.

With regards to you carrying out the oil change, it may appear simple or easy to do on the EOD Honda if you are good with DIY on cars but i would still advice you to look for a good, experienced profesional mechanic to do that for you or else you may end up with very expensive repair bills if something goes wrong.

i asked ppl around and they said it could be used as such but all the same,i had it replaced withe the mobil xhp today(with the assistance of a kindly mechanic)

about ur plan to top up the oil,i read it somewhere that its not a gud idea.topping off i mean
heard its best to drain and replace is as a whole.not so sure about it,so u may want to crosscheck.

hope I am not digressing here, 

but u never can rely on the smoothness/balancing of Japanese cars compared to the likes of ?---- u know now,  lol

I did several balancing on my camry, - changed the following:

alloy rims (3-times)
front disk (twice)
shocks (4 legs - 3 times)
All bushings front & rear (once)
balancing & alignment (quaterly in a yr)- both manual and computerized
changed tyres (new and toks)

Owned the ride for 3yrs and just sold it last week- (reason not just cos of the balancing stuff, but needed to emabrace smthn else)


I was not still satisfied with the handling, perhaps what I didnt do was to revert to the rim size that came with the car (195-70-14)

highest speed I have sturbbonly attained was around 170km/h

I would advice, we always adhere to the recommended specifications in everything, it pays and cheaper in the long run.

pl can u share with us some of the sign of problems with the Power Steering Pump?
a colleague of mine said i shud check my power steering oil,said the steering dose not feel
soft enough.car drives/steers fine for me.
i checked the oil and it looks like normal ATF to me,not that i know what bad looks like u know

I have a 2000 honda accord v6 and I need to change my transmission fluid.

Yeah, that is probably the case; I experienced the same problem with my former car. It is actually the wheel balancing that takes care of the problem not the alignment. Look for one of those computerised wheel balancing garage and your car will be cured.

1. Air/Fuel Ratio Sensors
2. Knock Sensors
3. EVAP Solenoid.
