Please do whatever it takes to learn it if you can. Unfortunaley Nigeria has become a country where more people are increasingly choosing not to speak their language to their children. I fear for this present generation of kids - we may end up having a whole generation without a mother tongue! I have a 7-month old son here in the UK and I and my wife have vowed to only speak Ibo to him. Our local languages are heading for extinction and if we don't do our bit to reverse this trend, history will not judge us kindly
