A former lawmaker elected on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, has advised the President Bola Tinubu administration to prioritize the distribution of free condoms and other contraceptives to Nigerians.

Murray-Bruce said the suggestion is in light of the lingering economic challenges facing Nigerians given the country's increasing population.

Former Ajax and AC Milan legend, Marco van Basten, has slammed the Union of European Football Associations, UEFA, for the alleged “ridiculous” kickoff show before the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan.

The much awaited meeting of Nigerian rapper, Odumodublvck and West Ham midfielder, Declan Rice has finally happened.

The duo met in England days after the musician shared a DM from Declan asking him where he was so that they could link up.

Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate for 2023, has applauded the suspension of Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

THE GRIOT previously reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved Emefiele’s suspension in a statement issued on Friday by Willie Bassey, Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

Following his suspension from office, Emefiele has been directed to hand over the CBN’s affairs to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the apex bank boss until the investigation and reforms are completed.

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have long been a topic of debate and regulatory scrutiny worldwide, and Nigeria has been no exception.

In February 2021, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) issued a circular to deposit money banks (DMBs), non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs), and other financial institutions (OFIs) to close accounts of persons or entities involved in cryptocurrency transactions within their systems.

The CBN further warned local financial institutions against dealing in crypto-assets or facilitating payments for crypto exchanges.

The apex bank cited concerns over money laundering, terrorism financing, cybercrime and the volatility of cryptocurrencies as reasons for the ban on Bitcoin.

Leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, yesterday enlightened the public on the reasons behind their decision to cancel the planned nationwide strike.

NLC and TUC had earlier decided to go on a nationwide strike because of the removal of fuel subsidy.

After an emergency National Executive Council(NEC) meeting yesterday, the president of NLC, Mr Joe Ajaero, and General Secretary, Emma Ugboaja, revealed that the mood of the nation, the need to pursue national stability and the restraining order obtained by the Federal Government from the National Industrial Court, NIC, are the reasons for the decision to shelve the planned industrial action.

A young lady has narrated the horrible ordeal she experienced while living in a shared apartment with her friend in Yaba, Lagos state.


According to her, her friend found the apartment and she had to balance the payment despite splitting the rent equally, she was treated unfairly in the apartment.

She further added that things got so bad after she got in a fight with and she had to leave the apartment even though she had 7 months’ worth of rent left. After she left, her things were thrown out and left in the rain.

She tweeted:

“December 2022, I decided to rent a space with a mutual and it’s been the most hectic experience of my life. I met Ope may 2022 through a mutual because we were both house hunting and looking to split the rent. The first time we spoke we got along and she seemed very cool. We saw some houses and we went to check them out together but we didn’t get any of those houses.
