Hey Guyz, Updates Time.. boo yea!..i finished my first piece of coursework for GCSEsout of 7.. ok..i done it...but i need your opinions..gimme a grade from A* to U.. NB..no white people were harmed in the making ![]() Demilade Abidogun 10p. First Visit To United Kingdom. Usually I was the hungriest girl in the world but today, I didn’t feel like eating at all. “Make sure you finish eating that Hun”, my mum shouted from her room, she was dressing up. “No, it makes me sick”, I shouted back with a sick look on my face. I was excited, many thoughts flashed across my mind, my first visit to the UK; I started daydreaming about it two weeks ago; the fabulous scenery, the cool weather, the interesting people; it was going to be an unforgettable visit. We packed our bags and loaded the car, it was about 20 boxes; packed in big bulks. Off we went to Muritala Mohammed airport, the day was here, and I was travelling in an aeroplane for the first time in my entire life. “Stay close baby, make sure you don’t get lost”, my dad told me. “Um..Ok”, I replied. Typical dad! He was too overprotective; 50-year-old man, he looked about 35, I love going on piggy back rides with him, whenever he calls me his ‘Little Baby’, I can feel this spark in his eyes as if its saying ‘I love you, I don’t want to loose you’. Anyways, I started checking out the people arriving; they were all beaming with smiles while their families came to welcome them home; how sweet! “Flight going to Heathrow on platform 13 please” the tannoy boomed. It was time. Our tickets were checked and we were in, we entered the huge 10 metered flying aeroplane, I felt wonderful; there were bright lights, comfortable seats, clean tables where a baby could be delivered, everything looked sparkling. People entered from different corners, looking relaxed and happy, I felt fulfilled. The plane took of, it travelled a few miles on the floor, and the big wheels were moving like a motorcycle going at a high speed. The flight lasted for 8hours, it was interesting I looked outside; it was dark, the view was amazing, everything looked tiny, I was amazed, little lights were on the angle of depression. I ate for a while then fell asleep. At last, we got to Heathrow airport, it looked beautiful and gigantic; people had sign boards with their relative’s name written on them, people were finding their people, it was crowded. I looked up, everyone was wearing big coats and hats; wait a minute, in fact they looked a lot different, they had bigger noses that I had, their skin colour was yellowish or lets just say orangish, everyone was minding their own business, I stared at them; these people were really interesting. I looked over to this boy, he was about 7 years of age, he had a brown rod in his mouth, and I wondered how that got there. I looked to my left, I couldn’t believe my eyes; I was all alone, I looked to my back and then to the left, my family were nowhere to be found. I had a sick feeling. My stomach suddenly tightened, the fear settled on my face, I could feel the spooky breeze blowing towards me, just like in the movies. My mouth was muttering something I couldn’t figure out, I felt like a thousand eyeballs were staring at me. I started walking upwards trying to see maybe they just walked ahead a few feets ahead of me. I kept walking; it felt like forever; as if I had been walking for 20 kilometres, I couldn’t find them. Was this a dream? Was this my fate? Was I going to return to Nigeria alone? Was my dream of becoming Britney Spears shattered? Can I ever survive alone? Would I be able to see the Eiffel tower? These were the questions I was asking myself. “Excuse me kid, can I help you?” a voice woke me from my imagination dream, I looked up; I saw a policeman, he was a tall man with a sense of power in him, to me he looked like a professional wrestler; he looked about 30 years of age and had a huge head. “Erm.. I cant find my family,” I croaked with fear in my eyes, he could see I was terrified. “Don’t worry l’il mama, you’ll be okay,” he said calmly. “Yes Mister” I replied back sulkily. It was killing me, I could never be okay, and it has happened, my life was crumbling in my sight, it hurts. Its Shocking I say shocking! The tall man held my hand, guiding me across the airport; looking around like a thief who was about to nick a cookie. “We have been looking all over for you” I heard a voice behind me, I and the policeman turned around and I saw my mum with this frown on her face; my stomach lightened a little bit, I was happy. My eyes lightened up, she didn’t spank me phew! There was this voice in my head saying ‘Yay! I will not live alone”. I went home with mum, dad, my brother and my sister; smiling all the way home, my stomach was much lighter, I felt like dancing around in a circle singing ‘hallelujah’. My first visit was adventurous in many ways; first I left home feeling nervous on an empty stomach, got lost in Heathrow, got found and back home in the UK. This was an unforgettable event. When I got home I was hungry like a lion who needed lunch, my stomach lurched, I felt like eating a whole horse; I should have listened to mum and finished my breakfast. Humph! |
