Applied on 24 May, 2018. Biometrics 28 May, 2018. Online route.

Really fast. They should do me like that na. Applied since 20th April. Still on background check.

Those are messages they sent to you on April 2nd and tge date read could change to anything based on the date you read it. If you read it today again it will change to June 6.

Naa. I don't think that's how it works. I believe it's the date it was first read. It normally shouldn't change after that.

I guess CIC website is being upgraded cos i noticed same on my profile page yesterday till this moment.

Have u received any update on your medical, eligibility, background check etc.

Nothing at all man. Just that monthly "no updates" email
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by nivlek000(m): 3:44pm On Jun 06, 2018
Hi guys. I think something fishy is happening on my profile o.

My Timeline:
Medical: 16th April
Application : 20th April (online) -- Processing time as at application date was 7 weeks (Processing time is currently 9 weeks though)
Biometrics: 23 April

For whatever reasons the 'Date read' values have been moved forward from the initial April dates.
Is this common?

And what's with the absence of updates?

Omoarukheo,

I hate when I see people using the bold to address common mistakes made by themselves. Yes! I personally reviewed your SOP as at March 15th 2018. I told you that your SOP wasn't convincing at first stance and that you're likely to be refused based on reasons stated on the attached email while vetting your SOP and now it has come to pass your application has been refused with same reasons I told you. I remember telling you to resend me this SOP of yours again the second time after correcting some of the mistakes you made, I waited for your SOP, you felt so reluctant and didn't send the letter again neither did you make any amendments to them and now you came ranting here that your SOP was vetted by a guru!.

Please and please it's high time everyone take the responsibility of their applications and stop putting blames on anyone.

Attachment as at March 15th

Hello Frank,

I feel you're being unduly defensive. It doesn't appear to me that the lady is blaming anyone. Yes you tried your best in helping her with her SOP and I trust she appreciated that. However, I don't see the point of your condescending tone or choice of words. She's clearly devastated she doesn't need this attitude from anyone. You're a great guy, you've been really helpful here; let's stick with that narrative.

Hi Guys!!! Another hopeful Hopeful here. TRV fall on us!

Bro the conversion isn't exactly done like that.

These schools have what they call international degree equivalency. you'll have to check the particular degree requirements for students from Nigeria before can be sure what is required.

From my research, all the Canadian schools I've seen require minimum of a 2:1.

Hello,

That minimum requirement is not true however chances are much slimmer below a 2:1 as expected.

I keep seeing this advice to change school programs to match previous experience. What if the applicant genuinely wants a career change? It's more than just getting to Canada. After school what next?
Frankrobbn1:

Thebushboy is actually correct! The bolded words already flags your application to be refused based on purpose of visit. Why changing to a program that is not reasonable inlight with your previous studies and current professional career (job role)? That's a big hurdle for you!

Advice: Simply go back and secure an admission that is related to finance, then apply for your visa.

It is what it is. The cut off for a masters in Canadian universities for Nigerian students, is a second class upper. Anyone lower than a second class upper is turned down or admitted on an exceptional circumstance consideration. The exceptional circumstance usually means you have more than 6 years working experience in the intended field of interest. Most student with lower than second class upper end up in PGD. But I have seen first class students too applying for PGD. Most of these first class who do that are either interested in the specialization and vocational training that PGD offers or have no idea what they are doing.

This is not entirely true. Let's not be too pessimistic. It's a lot tougher and expensive (multiple application fee payments) actually but it's not impossible to get a good uni for a Masters degree with a 2:2.

preyeabel: nivkel how was ur interview n pls wat questions wher u askd?
it was fine. The questions are the basic ones really. Can we meet you? Why GTB? Tell us about GTB as an organisation (Similar to the prev). What department would you like to work? Why the interest?... Tips: be precise, be articulate, practice your answers to these questions and the other common ones (strength, weakness...), if you don't know the answer to a q don't mumble just let it be known that you don't know, and most of all be confident but don't be too cocky. And of course dress sharp. I know I did. Lol. Gods grace.
