Please, can I message you privately? I just finished talking to the admissions office and still insisted that soil science is an environmental related course and therefore think the rejection is unfair and unwarranted. I went on to ask that if my personal statement wasn't good enough and hence the rejection. The lady said it had nothing to do with my personal statement and that what I will need to do is contact the faculty directly via mail and outline the relevant courses I took at undergrad and explain them to show correlation with earth and environmental science. I am waiting for day to break well so that I contact my department's HOD from uni and request for her assistance on the issue. That is where I am right now and wanted to put it out here. P.s I have contacted you via email. Thank you so muchh. Ikjosh04: Well, if I where in your shoes. I would be able to convince the CO and also show the relationship linking Soil Science to Environmental Sciences, Geology, Geography and even Civil engineering in my Gte.
Also, I'll lay emphasis on while Environmental science is an upgrade to my Bsc soil science by telling a story with appropriate references showing how Nigeria being a oil producing country is always suffering from oil spillage(even recently a Dutch appeals court has ruled that the Nigerian branch of oil giant Shell is responsible for damage caused by leaks in the Niger Delta and has been ordered to pay compensation bills) and how your background in soil science and an Msc Environmental science will put you in a better position to educate and stop/reduce such occurrences.
I would have also used the pandemic has a pain point cause now more than ever, all countries all over the world(including Nigeria with wour huge population) need to increase their food production, so we need more farmers and my background in soil science and Msc Environmental science from a first world country, will put me in the driving force to attain increase in food production when I get back to Nigeria after completing my Msc.
Mehn, I've a whole lot in my brain to write in that Gte cause the relationship between the 2 courses exist, you can even check and read up the rules and regulations guiding soil scientists, geologist, civil engineers, geographers and environmental sciences in Nigeria and Australia cause I'm sure this courses have a national and regulatory body.
You can also convince the CO on how soil plays an important role in everything called environment/habitat needed for human survival from food production, to building to petrochemicals and co.
My point is, your Gte was not strong proof and so it was unable to convince whoever that's in charge the revelance of soil science to Environmental science.
Meanwhile, whatever course you choose make sure its in the SOL and from my research agriculture is in high demand in Australia and I read few weeks/months back how, Australia crops are perishing because of absence of immigrants that are supposed to come in with work visa to help them harvest the crops due to the boarder restrictions. |

Thank you Josh! The appeal didn't come out well o because according to them, my first degree (soil science) is not relevant to earth and environmental sciences for masters; that I need to have studied geology, geography, earth science or an environmental related course. I strongly believe say na ment. My agency said I should look for an alternative course incase CDU comes back negative too. I'm thinking agricultural economics/ agribusiness but I didn't even find any of the two on SOL. It's not even offered in majority of the schools that the agency is affiliated with (the ones I've checked, I mean). I'm gearing into a state of confusion and I really just need inputs and opinions from you guys, please. What alternative course that is related to agriculture can I study? Thank you all in anticipation. The agriculture I want to run away from no gree leave me. This Al1 thing never gree me understand well cos I've seen here on this thread that some people that applied to some of those schools have still had SOA requested from them. Ikjosh04: Sorry about the bouncing and I hope your appeal comes out favourably!
Meanwhile, CDU is a good uni and the only Australia uni to welcome back 70 international students in late October or so since the introduction of hard border restrictions in March due to COVId-19.
But I strongly advise applying to Al1 university's, if the applicants/sponsor(s) does not have a strong statement of account.
Hi Vick, no one knows!
Everything in the media is pure speculations but I remain hopeful the boarder should be open in July cause vaccination is ongoing! |

VickayThrills: Greetings wonderful people!
I have come again ooo with something I've asked here before now. I'm confused, my agent is confused and many people are confused but I know that the great people we have here are not confused...(smiles).
All I'm trying to ask again is, what's our fate via the opening of border? Is July possible?
Thank you Sir(s)/Ma(s)... |

Hi everyone, my fervent prayer is that they open their borders before july, so that all of us can carry our kaya and leave this Nigeria and be doing patriotism from the abroad too in Jesus name. Amen.
Please anybody in Charles Darwin University? I initially applied to the university of wollongong but them bounce me (I have made an appeal and is waiting for a decision though) so my agency (BCIE) applied to Charles Darwin, while we wait; but I have not seen anything so far on here about the school. I am now thinking that the school isnt all that.
I will really appreciate opinions and input from you all, thank you in advance.
oh! my first degree is agric sci with a major in soil science and my intended course for postgrad is environmental science/management. |
