Nollywood actress, Funke Adesiyan has revealed how she became a millionaire at just 17, built her own house at 19 and lost almost everything at 27.

Let me tell you a story. I am a product of God's Grace. I was the Games Prefect at my elementary school, I was the Senior Prefect of the secondary school I attended. I started modelling at 13. I started business at 14. At 17 I made my first million. At 19, I built my first house. At 24, i already have OND, a diploma and a degree. At 25,I ran a presidential campaign for one of the greatest men Nigeria is blessed with, Mallam Shekarau. At 26, I opened a fashion emporium in my home town which cost me over 20 million naira then. But guess what, at 27, I had lost almost all. This was the period I knew people for what they are. God used this period to prepare me for a better tomorrow. Instead of sulking, I looked inward and found a renewed strength within me. I sold my car, started all over but this time, quietly. I found a new calling. To live my live for people who are truly in need and have nothing to even give you in return but a most sincere prayer to God almighty. On Saturday, October 22nd, one of the graduands at the University of Ilorin 32nd convocation ceremony, Yusuf Ololade Faidat, was the center of attraction, as she clinched 19 prizes.

Faidat, who is in her early 20s, won the prize for the best graduating student from the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences. She received the prize of N20,000 awarded each session by the Senate to the student adjudged to be the best in each faculty.


She also got another prize of N10,000, awarded by the Senate to the best student in each department.

Faidat also took home prizes for best student in the departments of Behavioural Sciences, Pathology, Community medicine, Paediatrics and child health, Medicine, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and gynecology and Surgery.

Also, out of the 12 endowed prizes and scholarships, Faidat got 10 of them. While speaking to reporters, she attributed her success to the Almighty and perseverance. “As a woman, you can become whatever you want to be once you are persistent, irrespective of a number of men around you. I read for about 4 hours every day,” she said.

Today marks a special day in the History Benin City, the Edo State capital as the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Eheneden Erediauwa, ascends the revered throne to become the 39th Oba of Benin, succeeding his late father, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolopkolo, Oba Erediauwa.

Prince Erediauwa was crowned at about 2am on Thursday by the Usama N’ Ihiron also known as the Edion led by Chief Oliha.

Other members of the Edion are Edohen, Ezomo, Ero, Eholo N’ Ire, Oloton and Edaiken.

The crowning was done at a private ceremony inside the Usama Palace, a temporary building erected for the coronation ceremony.

The Senate on Tuesday called on the Federal Government to issue a proclamation for the holding of a population and housing census in Nigeria, in 2018.

The legislators who noted that the delay in the issuance of a declaration by President Muhammadu Buhari and poor release of funds to the National Population Commission (NPC), were major setbacks to carrying out the exercise, warned that the government needs to adhere to the United Nations provision which says that censuses should be conducted every 10 years, noting that the last census was conducted in 2006 by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

He added that by the 10-year provision of the census exercise requirement, it ought to have been in this year.

Ken Wiwa, popularly known as Ken Saro-Wiwa, Jr, the first son of late Nigerian writer, and environmental activist, has died.

The 48-year-old was a prolific journalist, author and served as an aide to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President Musa Yar'Adua and Former President Jonathan as his Senior Special Assistant on Civil Society and International Media.

According to Reports, Mr Wiwa died today. He was aged 48.
